Chapter 51: Sin's little devil
I gave a small gasp as I searched desperately. That paper seemed important, and I could still remember what I saw inside it. Larissa and Aldo. What will I do if Sin realizes the paper is gone?
I moved to get a better angle and stretched my hand to check under the dresser. It really wasn't there. No one but me, Sin, and Larissa have been in here, and I never even left. How could someone have taken it? It made no sense.
I sat back, biting down on my lips hard as I thought hard. I was one hundred percent sure that I had pushed it under the dresser. No one had even come close.
For a while, I just sat there, unable to move. Nothing seemed real or made much sense right now.
I heard the sound of a closing door, and I swallowed. Sin was waiting for me. I needed to get ready.
I leaned in to look for the paper again, but it really wasn't there. With a sigh, I pulled myself up and turned to the mirror. The dress Sin had picked at first was still good, but...
I closed my eyes as Larissa's voice filled my ears, her words annoying me even more. With a small hiss, I walked away from the dresser towards the large walk-in closet. I stood there for a long minute, my eyes scanning the dress as my mind went through the memories of me trying them on.
Slowly, I walked to a white dress hanging distinctively in a flood of much darker colors. I stopped in front of the dress, my eyes taking it in.
Slowly, I took it out, then brought it to my body. I turned to the mirror, and my lips sucked between my teeth. It was a long halterneck dress that left the skin of my chest open right in the middle, except for a long string of pearls.
The back was mostly open, up to the two small dots right on the very small of my back. A belt was added to the dress right on that spot, and it dipped a little to the left and was tied into a bow.
I swallowed. This one. Daring. Crazy. This one.
I pulled the other dress off, all the while watching the mirror. I took in a deep breath before I pulled the other dress on, fixing it around my neck and letting the gown flow to my feet. It followed my figure to the tee and had a small train behind it.
I watched the mirror for a long while, spinning to check the back. Was it a little much? Would it offend Sin that I had removed the dress he had picked out himself?
I wasn't sure, and coupled with the doubts, the missing paper, and the remnants of the anger I still felt, I decided against the dress.
I turned away from the mirror and started to get out of it when a small sound stopped me in place, causing me to turn.
Sin was by the door, a cigarette in his right finger, his eyes slightly wide as he watched me. My lips parted as I stopped trying to remove the dress, letting it fall back to my feet again.
My eyes were slightly wide as I watched him with bated breath, waiting for him to say something.
He did not, and for a long minute, he just watched me. Slowly, his eyes roamed down my body, to my feet. I blinked, and without thinking about it, I moved, turning around so he could see the back, too.
My hand pulled my hair to rest on my shoulder, and I slowly turned to watch his expression as he let his eyes drink me in. Like I was tequila, and he was a man looking to get down.
"Fuck," he whispered softly, further adding to the already thick tension in the room.
I bit down on my lips, then met his eyes. "Can I keep it on?"
He blinked, his lips parting lightly as he let his eyes drift back to me. "Yes," he finally said, his lips pursing for a short minute. "Keep that dress on."
Before I could say a word, he walked away, his steps brisk. I stayed there for a while, blinking as I let the encounter sink in.
Once it did, I squatted to the floor, a squeal leaving my lips, like a sixteen-year-old who had just been asked out to prom by her crush.
I broke into a laugh, then turned to the mirror again, my confidence restored, my mind finally letting go of Larissa's bullshit. I spun around one more time, gave a small giggle, then stepped out.
The room was empty, and a maid was fixing the bed. I bit down to my lips, then slowly leaned to her.
"I have a small request," I said, my eyes fixed on the door.
"Yes, ma'am?"
I sighed. "I lost a paper under the dresser. I am not sure where it is now, so please, if you find it, hand it to me discreetly."
She gave a nod of understanding, and I smiled, then walked away. Sin was downstairs, his eyes thin as he stared off into space, his cup lightly hovering above his lips.
"I am ready," I said, my voice low as I came in front of him.
He slowly turned to me, his eyes immediately transitioning from the killer sort of darkness to the bestial sort of darkness. The type that melted my knees and made me hope he would forget Larissa forever.
I may be selfish, but I want her man. I want the way he looks at me. I want the way he makes me feel.
Sin swallowed, then turned away, his eyes briefly closing. He walked up to me, and without a word, removed his jacket. I looked up beyond his broad chest, past his chiseled jawline to the eyes that were looking down at me, too.
He wrapped the jacket around me without a word, then let his fingers smoothen the front of the jacket. Slowly, he pulled me by the edges of the jacket, forcing my body to touch his, the proximity threatening to kill me. Or make me a woman.
"I get this gratifying feeling that you are doing this to make me desire you. If you are, I hope you know that you have won, you little devil."
I couldn't help the smile that lifted my lips even as he held my hand and pulled me away towards the main entrance.
Sin's little devil. I loved it.
