Chapter 50: Sinner
I gave a small sigh, rolling my eyes a little as I folded my hands in front of me.
"How much bigger do the letters need to get, sweetheart? He doesn't want you."
"Oh, I know that. He may not want me, but he wants his daughter."
I chuckled, hating this woman even more with every word that left her lips. "His daughter? The one you got right after raw dogging his friend on your wedding?"
I expected that to hit her hard, but to my unpleasant surprise, she didn't even seem bothered as she smiled, then turned to the door, probably watching out for Sin who, most probably was downstairs with Angel.
He may have seemed strong, but I knew he missed his daughter, and Larissa may have really found a way to get to him by manipulating his daughter's emotions.
She slowly turned back to me, a smile lifting her lips. "Not my fault, love. I know how good I am when I get down, and obviously, Sin and every red-blooded man around me knows just that."
I swallowed, my fists clenching hard.
"Can we say the same for you?" she continued, walking further. "I don't think so. To Sin, you are just like that flower vase. You can't make his blood boil with desire, sweetie. You can't make him want to keep you. And yes. I look forward to helping you pack your bags. It is only a matter of..."
"What are you doing?" Sin's voice came from the door, and she immediately turned, dropping the long finger she had placed on my shoulder.
"Sin."
His brows were drawn, and he was carrying Angel. He looked between us, his eyes lingering on me a little longer. Or maybe I was seeing things. Maybe I was so desperate for his attention.
I sighed and turned away, my lips parting as I tried to keep it all in.
"I was just telling her about the burial."
Sin walked in slowly. "You should take Angel and leave."
My eyes widened as I turned to him again, wondering if I had heard correctly.
"What?" Larissa asked, obviously as shocked as I was.
"I said, leave. With Angel."
"Don't you want to stay with her a little longer?"
"No," Sin said quietly as if he was trying not to let Angel hear, just in case she thought he really did not want her.
"But Sin..."
"She apparently comes as a package with you now. I do not want the free gift. Take her and leave."
I turned to Larissa, whose jaw was now clenched tight, her chest lightly heaving. Slowly, she turned to me, her lips parting. Her face was reddened with annoyance and embarrassment, and she turned away again, taking in a deep breath.
With forceful movements, she yanked the sleeping girl away from Sin, and I saw her nail dig into his hand, cutting him. He didn't flinch or say a word as she walked away, leaving both of us in the room again.
"You are becoming soft," Sin said as he slowly turned to me, his eyes dark.
"Soft?" I asked, my eyes lowering to the bright red blood on his hand. "What do you mean?"
"You are letting her step all over you. Hit her if you have to, I won't stop you. But I didn't hire a damsel in distress."
I swallowed hard as he started to turn away. "Is this still just a contract to you?"
He turned, his brow raising. "What?"
I slowly met his eyes, my jaws clenching hard. "I... why are you doing this to me? Why exactly?"
"I happen to not have time for parables."
"One minute, you are grabbing me and telling me about how I belong to you. The other minute, you are treating me like some disposable trash you hired to keep your shitty ex away."
He tilted his head to the right, his hands slowly going behind him. "I thought I made the contract..."
"Then stop breaching my space!" I screamed, my hand sweeping through the air. "Stop touching me like that. Stop telling me things like that. Stop pretending that you can ever desire me. Stop acting like I am good enough to make your body want mine. To make..."
"My hands read you like braille? Is that what you want?"
I swallowed, my chest heaving. Is that what I wanted? Why was I making a fuss?
"You want me to pin you back on that wall, bend you over, and show you the things you have made me experience from the very moment you served me in that burger place?"
I swallowed, blinking slowly. I couldn't break eye contact, and neither could I bring myself to say a word to him.
Slowly, he took a step towards me. I immediately moved back, my hand resting on the dresser. It didn't help that I now knew I was trapped, and if he decided to go through with it...
He gave a small smile, his eyes roaming my body the same way I imagined his hands would know how to do.
"Look at you," he said softly, his eyes darkening beautifully like he held storms, seas, mysteries behind them. "Aren't you just as much of a sinner as I am? Aren't you every inch beast? Just the way that I am?"
I swallowed. I hated how he seemed to be right. I may not have killed anyone, but hell. Hell. He could drag me to the edges of the burning flames of doom, and I would worship his sins as the fire burned through me.
He gave a small sigh, then turned around. "You should get ready, Annalise. We still have a dinner to attend."
He didn't look at me anymore, and he walked away, leaving my skin tingling with his words. I swallowed, then shook my head as I remembered the paper from earlier. I needed to fix it back.
I immediately went on my knees, trying to push Sin out of my mind as I went on my knees. To my horror, however, the paper, the same one I had just been holding minutes ago... it was gone.
