Chapter 45: A Robe

I let out a small sigh, then blinked rapidly as I moved away from him. He stood up from the rocking chair, letting it swing back and forth a little. His hair lightly contrasted with the tanned skin of his shoulder, and he walked to the mini bar in the room. I watched him pour himself a cup, but simply let it dangle on his lips without a word.

"Where are we going?"

He shrugged. "A variety of places. Look like yourself."

Without another word, he dropped the untouched cup and started to walk towards the bathroom.

"Like myself?" I finally asked, just before he disappeared. "How?"

"I meant," he said, getting rid of the cigarette. "Look beautiful."

Before I could say anything else, he was gone. I sat there, my eyes wide, my thoughts only mildly interrupted by the shower as it went on, and then again when it went off, but throughout, I couldn't keep my wild thoughts in place.

Did Sin really think I was beautiful? Even when he had a woman like Larissa, even when he could have any woman he wanted... did he really think I was beautiful?

I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths to keep my composure as he emerged in nothing but a towel. I kept my eyes away as he looked around for something, then disappeared again.

When he emerged, he was wearing slacks that rested dangerously low on his waist, and without a word to me, walked out of the room. I slowly walked to the bed and lay in it, my eyes wide open as I tried to let everything sink in.

Sin never came back till I fell asleep, and I dared to entertain the thought of him being just as aware of me as I was of him.

I woke up to the bright sun rays filtering into the room. My brows furrowed as I brought my hand to shield my eyes, my chest lightly heaving.

The disturbance was enough to wake me up, and I gave a small grunt, then moved around, my lips parting a little. My eyes opened to empty space on the bed beside me. The sheets were perfectly laid, and I knew Sin never came back last night.

I slowly sat up, feeling a little annoyed by the fact. I was largely more annoyed by the fact that I had no right to ask him to stay the night when everyone he had hired me to pretend for was officially gone.

I gave a long sigh and slowly got out of bed. My steps traced towards the closet, and I watched the arrangement of dresses. My eyes fell on the wedding dress, and I couldn't help but smile, my lips slightly parting.

I might never wear it, but still...

I turned away to the shower, dumping the robe as I stepped into the bath. My eyes closed as the warm water touched my skin, helping me forget all of the things that bothered me.

Once the shower was done, I walked out, my hair wrapped up in a towel. Sin was now sitting on the edge of the bed, and next to him was a single light blue dress.

My brows furrowed as my eyes fell on the dress. It was a satin dress that hugged me tight and had a slightly plunging neckline, one that was carefully covered with a teasing layer of beads.

"You... picked that out?"

He gave a nod, but his eyes were quite blank, and it would be so hard to get used to his eyes betraying nothing when his actions were the complete opposite.

I swallowed, removing the towel from my head. "You... you didn't sleep here last night."

"Does that worry you?"

I swallowed, looking down at my fingers. "I am sorry, I just..."

"I got too tipsy, so I slept on the couch."

I nodded, sucking in my lower lip. "You don't have to explain. No one is here, so there is no need to pretend. I mean... we don't need to share a bed. The pretense is useless now."

He didn't reply, and I gave a sigh, then slowly leaned to take the dress, trying my very hardest to ignore the fact that he was sitting right there.

Just as my fingers wrapped around the dress, his fingers slowly came to push my hair back, tucking it slowly behind my ears.

I turned to him, and he was focused on his fingers, his eyes dark.

"You are such a tease," he said, chuckling to himself.

I swallowed, meeting his eyes. "I... I just... I didn't know you hated sharing a bed with me that much. Once there was no need for you to, you absconded."

"You could say I did," he whispered, moving a little closer, till I almost thought he would kiss me. Till I was almost on my knees, begging for him to kiss me. "Not because I hate sharing a bed with you, but because I am not a man of control. I never have been."

I blinked, understanding exactly what he meant. I would be lying if I said I knew control either.

He looked down at me, then gave a rather mischievous smile. "Get dressed, baby girl. A robe is easier to rip off."

My breath hitched as he stood up then walked to the shower, leaving me leaning into the intense smell of beauty and desire that he left behind for me to hang on to.

I swallowed, moving away from him, my heart going on overdrive. I placed a hand on my chest as I tried to organize my thoughts while he wasn't here to rummage through them and awaken the side of me that I didn't even know existed.

I closed my eyes, not sure how long I had been standing there, dress in hand and completely immobile, till a soft chuckle reached my eyes.

My eyes flew open, and Sin was standing there, his hands folded in front of him, his hair falling in wet strands in front of him. His eyes took me in, still in a robe, his earlier warning thumping to the rhythm of my heart.

"I see you are still in a robe," he said slowly, his eyes drinking me in almost hungrily.

I blinked, my chest heaving lightly. I took a step backward and it caused him to smile before he walked away again, leaving me contemplating my own morality.
