Chapter 29: Pregnant

My lips parted treacherously, and his eyes slowly drifted to them, his fingers resting lightly on my shoulder. He gave a small smile, then met my eyes again, before he slowly moved away from me and walked away towards the walk-in closet. I placed a hand on my chest, my heartbeat all over the place. My knees felt weak, and I sat on the edge of the bed, my chest heaving.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I did not hear the knocks on the door. I closed my eyes, willing myself to gain control of my body again. It has only been a day, but for a man like Sin, twenty-four hours were proving too long.

A louder knock came on the door, and I looked up, a small gasp leaving my lips. With a sigh, I stood up and opened the door to the same makeup crew from yesterday.

"Good morning!" Angela said, and I smiled, then let them in. This time, I sat on the seat immediately, and they made me up. The makeup was fresh and light, and they were soon done.

I took the box of underwear, then slowly walked to the closet. I peeked into it, and Sin was wearing his shirt, and the buttons were still open as he focused on cuffing the sleeves.

A mischievous smile lifted my lips as I decided to let my intrusive thoughts win with him. He always did whatever he wanted, and now... now it was my turn. I dropped the box, then slowly covered the distance to him.

He was a bit distracted by something, and I took the chance and went in front of him. My fingers held the edges of the shirt, and I looked up to him, my eyes smug.

"Let me help you," I said, my voice low.

He turned to me, his eyes holding mine. He didn't reply, and I decided to stretch my luck a little bit. I looked down, then tightened my grip on the edges of his shirt. Using all of my strength, I pulled him to me by his shirt the same way he had done to me with my bra.

His right brow raised as he took an involuntary step towards me, covering the distance, so his feet were right at the tip of mine, and my hand was the only thing between our bodies.

Okay. This was having more of an effect on me than it was doing on him. He had a stoic expression still, his eyes thin as he watched me, his lips slightly parted.

"I..." I started to say, my voice cracking.

"You like to play with fire, don't you, Annalise?"

I struggled to swallow, my eyes darting across his. "I... I was just trying to..."

He slowly held my hand, causing me to release the shirt. Slowly, he pulled me closer to him and then leaned, so his face was aligned with mine, his eyes holding mine in an electrifying gaze.

I have never seen something that scared me and excited as much as this. As much as him.

"Careful. I do not like bad girls."

I blinked, my chest heaving. Like a foolish coward, I turned around and made a run for it, grabbing the box on my way out, my chest heaving.

I got to the room, still holding the box in my hand, my eyes blinking rapidly. Angela was staring at me in confusion, and I swallwed, turning towards the closet.

Sin hadn't bothered to follow me, and I swallowed. "Uh... I will just wear it here."

Angela nodded, and I immediately set the box down and dressed up, my eyes darting to the closet every single second.

He never emerged till they brought the dress and wore it on me. This one was a royal blue dress that stopped at my knee. It was a simple one all round, and they fitted me into another pair of black heels.

I was checking out the complete appearance when Sin finally came out. He was wearing a crisp white shirt with sleek black trousers and had left a few buttons open. This man knows exactly what he does to the woman folk and carried that knowledge as an armour.

"I will be leaving in ten minutes. She can come and pack up," Sin said into his phone, then turned to me.

"All done?"

I nodded, a small smile lifting my lips. He nodded, then took his phone. "Let's go, then."

He stretched his hand to me, and I took it, then turned briefly to bid a goodbye to Angela and her crew. They responded, and I followed Sin out of the room.

Neither of us said a word to the other, and we went downstairs.

"Sin?" Came a familiar voice, and I let out a sigh of exasperation. I was glad when Sin sighed too, as he stopped.

At least, I wasn't the only one who was tired of this woman's gibberish.

Sin stopped and turned to her, his brows furrowed. "Yes?"

Larissa sighed. "How is Angel?"

Sin nodded. "She is perfect. Anything else?"

She shook her head. "Can I at least come on her birthday? I really miss her, and I know she will have her birthday in two weeks. Please. I miss my daughter."

Sin nodded, meeting his eyes. "With the way you left, Larissa, even if something happens to me, I will make sure no one lets you close to my daughter."

She gasped, but Sin didn't wait and continued on his way.

"Sin."

He stopped again, then turned to her, his eyes cold.

"My... father is in jail."

Sin nodded. "Exactly where he belongs."

She closed her eyes, tears streaming down from under them. "Aldo too," she said again, swallowing, her throat bobbing up and down. "They found out he made the paintings."

Sin's expression did not change still. He had the same cool aloofness, the fact that he did not care etched on his face.

"Is there anything else?"

She closed her eyes tighter, and he turned away, pulling me with him. I almost felt sorry for her.

"I... I am pregnant, Sin. I am pregnant."

Sin stopped again, this time emotion quickly showing in his eyes. He turned to her again.

"What?"

"I am pregnant," she said, a tear rolling down her cheeks. "Please let me have my husband back so we can have our baby together. I really want this baby. Please, Sin."

Sin blinked rapidly before he turned away, his hand gripping me tighter, and he walked briskly away, almost as if he was running.
