Not true, Not True

Elinn I stared at the strange women for a moment before I burst into laughter. There was no way she was serious, this was everyone's idea of a practical joke. I noticed that no one else was laughing and slowly I grew quiet once more. "You have to be mistaken mam, I have a mother and she looks nothing like you." I tell her, but it doesn't seem to phase her. "No, that woman is not your mother. She is a very close friend of mine who has been taking care of you while it was unsafe for you to be around me." I gazed into her eyes finding conviction behind them that didn't make sense. "Look, lady, I feel bad that your daughter is missing, but I am not her. My parents are Zayden and Adara, they raised me, not you, you are not my mother." I was beginning to become upset. Why was she so adamant that I was lying to her, I knew that what I was saying was true. "Why is there last name Onnas and yours Vansesor? Why do you look nothing like your so-called parents or brothers? It is because you are not truly their daughter, you are my mate's and my only child." I felt my breathing increase as I thought about what she was saying. Could it be true? No, they would have told me, something that large they would have told me about that. I looked at the corner where my parents were standing and saw the guilty looks on their faces and I wanted to scream. They stepped forward slowly and my father began speaking. "I'm so sorry Elinn, we were going to tell you. We had decided that when you first shifted we would explain it to you, but before we got the chance you were taken. Then when you were back with us you were too fragile for us to tell you. You have to understand that we were trying to do what you needed." I backed away from them, they had lied to me. My own parents, wait were they even my parents now? They had kept this from me, they had let me think that I belonged with them. They had allowed me to grow attached to them, to love them when I wasn't even theirs. "You lied to me," the words were barely a whisper from my lips. Zayden flinched at my words before Adara chimed in. "We didn't want to lie to you Elinn. But we never wanted you to feel like an outsider in our family." She tried to explain. "You lied to me." This time my words were slightly louder and held more anger than hurt. I was so confused and frustrated, I just wanted this to all go away. "Elinn, this isn't a bad thing. Now that you know who your true parents are we can get to know each other. I've been waiting to talk to you and have you with me so long. Your father has been waiting for this day for a long time too." I ignored her and stared into the eyes of the two people who had hidden my true life from me. "Do Xander and Darius know?" My voice was laced with a promise of something dark. "Elinn, you have to try to understand," My 'father' tried to explain but I cut him off. "Do. They. Know?" I was fairly certain I already knew the answer, but I needed to hear it from them. 'They've known since the day you were given to our charge." Adara admitted quietly. The shadows that had been creeping towards them before were now out for a vengeance. They could feel my rage and seemed to feed off of it, using to guide them. My parents and so-called mother were swallowed up by the darkness of the shadows. Though they seemed to have a harder time with the women who claimed to be my mother. It was as if something in her tried to push them back, I pushed those hands farther and broke through whatever she had been doing to stop me. I didn't know exactly what the shadows were doing to them. I didn't want to know and honestly, I didn't really care, not now, not after what they had told me. How they had lied to me, lied about who I was and what I was. Why was I always being lied to? Was anyone in my life truly what they said they were. I felt someone shaking me and looked up to see Carter's panicked face in front of me. He looked distraught as if something was going horribly wrong. "Elinn, I understand that you are upset, but you can't do this. What they did was wrong, and I'm not excusing that, but they don't deserve this. Let them go, let's figure this out together, but not like this. You aren't like this you don't hurt people." I knew that he was right, but I didn't want to stop not after what they had done. "Carter, you don't understand, they lied to me. They lied to me just like he did! He always told me that they didn't want me, that I was a burden that was thrown at them. That my mother didn't want me, that she gave me away! He Was Right! He was right, she didn't want me and so threw me at the first person she would pawn me off too. DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND, I AM NOT WANTED! They didn't want me, none of them did, that's why they lied to me." I was choking on my words as I tried to hold in tears. I didn't want to give them the privilege of knowing how they affected me. "Elinn," This time it was someone else talking to me and I whirled to find Ecstan standing in front of me a pained look on his face. "What are you doing here?" My voice grew softer. Ecstan had been a large part of my childhood, he was a close friend of my fathers. He had always seen me as his daughter because he had none of his own. He had told me once that he did have a baby girl but she was taken from him before she was even one. "Elinn, it wasn't supposed to come out like this. You were supposed to be told a long time ago so that we could be part of your life. So that we could avoid something like this happening." I began to understand why he was here but I didn't want my hunch to be true. "Ecstan, no, no, don't do this, not you too," I begged him hoping against every piece of evidence I had that this wasn't true. "I'm sorry Elinn, but Nephael is my mate."
