Chapter 36: Coming Mother

Demetre Carter, Ari, and I had spent the past five days getting to know each other and trying to figure out what was going on with Elinn. None of us were sure what was going on with her and we couldn't figure out what we were doing wrong. We weren't sure what we were supposed to do to get her back but neither Ari nor I were complaining about the free time. Currently, we were sitting in Jennifer's house with Nathan watching a movie and eating some popcorn. I was beginning to learn how to eat human food, although some of it tasted awful, I prefer my normal sustenance. I could understand why maybe Elinn might appreciate it. I was beginning to sincerely worry about her, Ari hadn't seen her in over a day and we weren't sure what was going on with her. As we sat watching the movie, the doorbell rang followed by rapid knocking. I looked over at Nate and Jen assuming it was someone they had invited, but from their slightly concerned faces, I knew that they hadn't invited them. Nathan got up and walked towards the door where whoever was there kept knocking. Carter scooted closer to my seat as if getting ready to protect me if whoever was at the door was going to hurt us. Nathan opened the door to reveal a puffing Ecstan standing outside looking as if he had just up twelve flights of stairs. Nate stepped to the side the side gesturing for him to come inside. He hurried in scanning me cautiously then looking around the room at everyone else and seeing what we were up to. I studied him quickly realizing that something was wrong. "Ecstan your tense, what happened." I shot to my feet ready to go face whatever had made him so upset. "No, no it was no one here Demetre. Sit back down I have much I need to explain to your mate and his family. Someone is coming to try and help us with the whole Elinn situation, but they aren't exactly ready to meet her yet." He explained falling into an armchair and rubbing at his face in obvious exhaustion. He had been very worried about his little girl these past few days. The fact that she was unreachable was putting her father and her mate in quite a state. It was very strange to think that these two Alpha's strong and respected had been brought to their knees by a thin, pale, twenty-two-year-old girl. "Wait what are you talking about Ecstan? I haven't given anyone permission to come onto my pack grounds if they trespass I will be forced to take. You can't just invite other people into the territory without my permission. It doesn't matter if your my mate's father or not, that's not how things work here." Carter scolded my father climbing to his feet in complete outrage. "Carter this isn't something you can stop, this is one of those things that just happens. You have no idea what is coming, I have to tell you so that you don't make a complete and utter fool of yourself." Ecstan was now pacing around the living room and I was fairly sure he was going to wear a hole in the rug. "Ecstan will you just tell me who the hell you are trying to let into my territory? I would like to know who is gonna come around here and try to see my mate in such a fragile state!" Carter demanded stalking towards Elinn's father. "Hey! What do you mean fragile, I can take care of myself thank you very much." I was amused yet angry that they would assume something like that. "That's not what I meant and you know it, Demetre, take a chill pill." Ari stepped forward bowing her head to her mate and Alpha even if she wasn't officially part of the pack. "We are sorry Carter, now isn't the time we can see that." She apologized not wanting our mate to be mad at us. "It's okay don't worry about it doesn't matter right now. What really matters is this stranger who is supposed to be coming to fix my mate." Carter exclaimed very frustratedly about this whole situation. "CARTER ELINN'S MOTHER IS COMING TO SEE HER!" Ecstan screamed at us and I thought Nate's and Jenn's eyes might fall out of their heads. Carter was extremely scared about what was about to happen. "Why is that such a problem?" Jennifer queried. "Because, Elinn's mother just so happens to be….the Goddess of Death," Ecstan explained exhausted
