It was Monday and I had one big task I had to do I have to ask Luther to be my best man. Jason was not back from leave yet so work was hectic. I really only now realized how much Jason does for me. Maybe I should give him a raise. When I went through all my e-mails I called Luther. “Nicolas.” “Luther, can you come to my office please?” “On my way.” When I put the phone down, I realized I should have gone to him, but it was too late now. I got up and made Luther and I both a cup of coffee, there was a knock on my door before Luther walked in. “Nicolas what can I do for you?” “Sit” I said as I gave him the cup of coffee. “You made me coffee? What’s wrong?” He asked a little bit shocked. Yes, this was not normal behavior for me. “How is it going with Mia and Nicolene?” Luther looked at me confused but answered. “Good Mia is healing well, and Nicolene, she’s just so precious and cute.” I might over stepped here but I asked “You think Mia is the one for you?” He looked at me, I thought he was going to tell me it has nothing to do with me but he actually answered me. “I do, I’m giving her the space she needs to heal from the birth as well as her almost ex-husband’s trauma but she knows I’m there for her and I’ll fight for them Nicolas I will, really. “So, what is my first duties as best man?” “I really don’t know, we probable have to go for our tuxedoes at some point.” “Some point? Isn’t the wedding like, in 3 weeks?” “It is.” “Well then I suggest we do that as soon as possible.” “Okay we just need to take JP with us because his Nicol’s Grooms men.” “That’s no problem, I’ll make us appointments, I know you are useless without Jason.” “Fuck you, Luther.” “You know it’s the truth.” He said as he walked out of my office.

JP and I went to fetch Nikki at school, she was so excited to see JP. “JP you should see the dress I want mom to wear.” “I can’t wait but peanut you should remember it’s your mom’s wedding and not yours she should wear what she wants to.” “I know I just love the dress but at the end of the day it is probable her choice.” “Jeez thanks Nikki.” “Pleasure mom.” I was being sarcastic but I just let it go.
When we walked into the Bridal boutique the women that helped us on Friday walked towards us. “Good afternoon, Nicol Nikki.” She said. “Good afternoon, I would like you to meet JP my Groomsman.” “Nice to meet you, I take it you are here for the final say?” “I think Nicol should make the final decision I’m just here to give my opinion.” “Good good, come Nicol I already put the dresses in the fitting room.” She went with me and helped me get dressed in the A-line dress with the lace first, she knew it was my favorite, especially the lacy train. I walked out of the fitting rooms, JP and Nikki was deep in discussion about something. “Here is the first one.” JP got up from his chair and walked around me “This is absolutely stunning.” He said. “It fits you perfectly. I love it.”
“Me to.” “Okay let’s see the other one.” I went back into the fitting room and got dressed in Nikki’s favorite the Vera Wang, I loved this one two the more I look at myself the more I liked it. I walked out of the fitting room and JP’s jaw dropped to the ground. “Oh my God.” He said “I told you.” Nikki said. “You look like a princess in this one.” “I know.” “I don’t know I love both of them Nicol I can’t make a decision.” The assistant clears her throat. “Can I make a suggestion?” “Oh God yes.” I said because I had no clue what to do. “I would take both.” Off course she will say that more money for her. I must have looked confused because she said “No hear me out a lot of people have more than one dress these days. You have the dress you walk down the aisle with, then you have the dress you walk into your reception and then some have a party dress as well, for much later the night.” “Interesting.” I went to sit with the huge dress on the floor, I love how the dress puffed around me, it would make such beautiful photos and then the A-line dress with all the lace will look good to party in. “So, what do you think mom?” Nikki asked very excited. “JP?” “It’s your choice love.” “Come on what do you think? I need your opinion.”
“I like the idea of 2 dresses, it’s not like you can’t afford it and it would look absolutely amazing if you walking down the aisle in that Vera Wang and then for the party the A-line would be easier to move in.” “I get it but isn’t it a waste of money, I mean 2 wedding dresses.” “No mom you can keep one for me.” Nikki said excited. I didn’t want to tell her by the time she get’s married this would probable be out of date. I looked at JP “I get it Nicol I get why you think it’s a waste of money but let’s look at it a bit different, are you ever going to get married again?” “No Nicolas is it for me.” “Well then go all out.” The assistant was still hovering around us. “Okay I’ll take both.” I said to the assistant that smiled from ear to ear. “Just think how surprised Nicolas will be. And you look really amazing in both.” JP said.
