Pinning desires and kisses
Pinning desires and kisses
The faint sound of Cassian’s retreating footsteps faded down the corridor, leaving Seraphina alone in her chambers, trembling. The relief of her lie being accepted warred with a fresh wave of fear. His smile, that possessive, triumphant smile, had been chilling. He believed her innocent act, but it only seemed to fuel his conviction that she was a delicate, lost creature in need of his dominant protection.
And the memory of Kael, the dead messenger, still gnawed at her, a cold dread twisting in her gut. Someone in this treacherous court knew her secrets.
A new tremor rippled through her as another thought solidified: Darius. Tonight was her night with him. After the startling, intimate encounter in the carriage, after his unnerving display of suppressed emotion, her carefully laid plans felt precarious. He was an unknown quantity, a silent force.
Just as Seraphina moved towards her vanity, hoping to compose herself, a sudden shadow fell across the room. The main chamber door, which she had thought closed, swung open silently.
Cassian stood there, his massive frame filling the doorway, his golden eyes fixed on her. The casual amusement of moments ago had vanished, replaced by a dark, simmering intensity. He wasn’t smiling. His broad shoulders were slightly hunched, his hands clenched at his sides. He looked like a storm brewing. He hadn’t left. He had been waiting.
Before Seraphina could utter a single word, Cassian moved. He didn't stride; he stalked, closing the distance between them with a predatory grace that belied his size. Seraphina instinctively took a step back, her heart hammering against her ribs. She felt the cold stone of the wall against her back a second later, as Cassian reached her.
With a swift, powerful movement, he slammed his palms flat against the wall on either side of her head, effectively pinning Seraphina against the wall. His body was close, too close, radiating heat and a coiled energy. The scent of pine and damp wool, mingled with his raw, musky male scent, overwhelmed her senses. His face, usually open and boisterous, was now drawn tight, a dangerous intensity in his eyes.
"So, 'lost,' were we, little Omega?" Cassian murmured, his voice a low, gravelly growl that resonated in her chest. His tone was deceptively soft, pretending to be playful, but the ferocity in his eyes, the rigid set of his jaw, betrayed the truth. He was clearly, deeply upset.
Seraphina forced herself to remain outwardly calm, though every instinct screamed at her to push him away. "My Lord Cassian, you startled me," she managed, her voice a little breathless. "I thought you had left."
"Oh, I left," he snarled, leaning closer, his hot breath brushing her ear, "but a thought struck me. A rather unsettling thought." His gaze dropped to her lips, then flickered back to her eyes, burning with suspicion. "You chose Darius. The quiet one. The one who hides in the shadows. Tell me, Seraphina," he hissed, his voice tightening with accusation, "did you choose him just to be… 'safe'?" The word was spat out, dripping with contempt, implying her choice was an act of cowardice, a betrayal of their Northlander ways. "Did you think he wouldn’t demand anything of you? That he’d be easy? That you could hide behind his silence?"
Seraphina felt a surge of cold anger. His crude accusation, his assumption of her weakness, chafed at her pride. This was her chance to deepen the wedge between him and Darius. She met his furious gaze, her own eyes widening slightly, feigning a touch of delicate offense.
"My Lord, what a… what an unkind thing to suggest," Seraphina whispered, her voice tinged with hurt, yet subtly infused with steel. "Is it so unfathomable that I might choose a man for his… gentleness? For his quiet strength, rather than his bluster?" She allowed a faint blush to color her cheeks, implying a coy intimacy she did not feel. "Darius is gentle," she stated, her voice softening, almost a wistful sigh. "That is why I chose him."
She let the word "gentle" hang in the air, a subtle mockery of Cassian’s own rough, domineering nature.
Cassian recoiled slightly, his eyes flashing with renewed fury at her subtle jab. The word "gentle" was an insult to his raw, aggressive masculinity. He let out a harsh, disbelieving laugh, a mocking sound that grated on her nerves. He mocked her, his face contorted with a sneer.
"Gentle?" he scoffed, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Gentle, you say? And what does a pampered Southern Omega know of 'gentle' in the bed, eh? Do you think the North is a place for soft whispers and tender touches? We are men of fire, Seraphina! We take what we want, and we want passion, not some simpering shyness!"
His face was inches from hers, his eyes burning into hers, filled with a mixture of anger, possessiveness, and crude desire. "Do you truly think Darius, with all his brooding silence, will give you what you truly need? What a woman like you, beneath all the silks, truly craves?"
He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a low, seductive growl, thick with dark insinuation. "Perhaps," he breathed, his gaze fixed on her lips, "you need a taste of true Northern passion, little Omega. A reminder of what 'fun' truly means, before you spend your night with the silent wolf. Before you realize what you’ll be missing with his… 'gentle' hands." His eyes glittered, daring her. "Do you want to have 'fun' before your night with Darius, Seraphina?"
Before Seraphina could even formulate a response, before she could utter a word of protest, he acted. His eyes, burning with a sudden, uncontrollable desire and furious possessiveness, dropped to her mouth.
And then, without warning, he kissed her.
It was hard, brutal, and utterly possessive. His lips crushed hers, forcing them apart, leaving her no room to breathe, no escape. His large hand, which had been pressed against the wall, moved, roughly cupping the back of her head, tangling in her braids, holding her immobile against the stone. He deepened the kiss, a demanding, violating force, his tongue invading, seeking, conquering. It was a raw, primal claim, meant to shock, to dominate, to mark her as his, despite her choice. His beard, rough and coarse, scraped painfully against her soft skin, his teeth grazed her lip, a bruising, desperate hunger in his assault.
Seraphina's mind reeled. Shock, outrage, and a sudden, primal fear surged through her. This was not the playful, flirtatious Cassian. This was the wild, untamed Alpha, seizing what he desired, disregarding consent, asserting his power through brutal intimacy. The taste of him, hot and aggressive, filled her mouth.
A powerful surge of anger, cold and swift, galvanized her. This was a violation. This was unforgivable. All her careful planning, all her subtle manipulations, meant nothing if he simply took what he wanted. She would not be broken. She would not be claimed this way.
With a desperate surge of strength, fueled by white-hot fury, Seraphina twisted her head away, breaking the brutal contact. She raised her hands, pressing them hard against his chest, pushing with all her might.
"No!" she cried, her voice muffled, hoarse with outrage. She pushed him away, her small frame surprisingly effective in its desperate resistance.
Cassian, caught off guard by the ferocity of her refusal, stumbled back a step. His eyes, still blazing with thwarted desire, widened slightly in surprise at her strength, her defiance. A dark flush rose on his neck, turning his face a mottled red. He stared at her, breathing heavily, his chest heaving.
Seraphina stood against the wall, trembling, her lips bruised, her hair disheveled, her chest heaving for breath. Her eyes, no longer innocent, blazed with an icy fury that mirrored his own. Her body was shaking, not from fear, but from a potent cocktail of anger and disgust. She wanted to scream, to lash out, to scratch his eyes out for his brazen violation.
Cassian stared at her for another long moment, his expression shifting from raw desire to a flicker of something akin to confusion, then to a dark, wounded pride. He had expected submission, or at least a less violent rejection. Her furious glare, her outright defiance, had clearly stung him.
Without another word, his face hardening into a grim mask, Cassian walked off. He didn't run, didn't storm. He simply turned, his large back to her, and stalked out of the chamber, leaving the door ajar behind him. The air in the room seemed to vibrate with the lingering intensity of his presence.
Seraphina slid down the wall, her legs suddenly weak. She was left breathless, not from his kiss, but from the shock of his assault, the sheer force of his possessiveness. She ran a trembling hand over her bruised lips, her mind a dizzying whirl of anger, fear, and a terrifying confusion. He was enraged, certainly.
But what did that mean for her plans? For her night with Darius? Her head swam, and for the first time since arriving in the North, Seraphina felt truly, deeply uncertain. The games had just become terrifyingly real.
