Chapter 28
Vanessa Vargas
Good Morning amore mio,
I couldn't wake you, you slept so well so forgive me, but I am gone, out of town for hopefully only two days.
There's a phone- long overdue- for you on your desk, set up, no password so you can make one yourself, with my number, my driver, and a few of my guards numbers saved. If you need anything, call me, I will always answer, but as of now, today you have a touch up appointment for your nails at 2 pm.
You can go shopping if you'd like, I left one of my cards on top of the phone, pin is 6270.
If any plans change, I will let you know.
Much love, S.
I groaned, checking the time and it was 12:30 giving the perfect time to get ready and eat.
I grabbed the phone, opening it, seeing a text from Spade.
Spade: call me when you're awake
So I did, walking to the bathroom.
"Goodmorning sweetheart." He said.
"How out of town is out of town?" I asked.
He laughed.
"California. About 8 hours away by drive." He answered.
"For two days?"
"For two days."
"Why?"
"To deal with people who make poor choices, mia amata."
"So you're not seeing another woman?" I teased.
"Oh definitely I am. That's exactly why I decided to leave." He said sarcastically and I smiled.
"Oh okay. I guess I'll just pack up-"
"Don't even continue the absurd joke."
"Okay." I stopped.
Then he FaceTimed me.
I answered.
"Why call?" I asked.
"I know you have things to do but I don't want to hang up." He smiled, his tongue toying with his lip ring.
I set the phone against the mirror and began brushing my teeth.
I felt weird with this whole thing, I've never FaceTimed someone myself, I've seen some old friends do it though.
I washed my face after, doing my skincare that I still found so fun to do.
I removed my hair from the braids and put it in a ponytail, using hairspray to put back my baby hairs.
"I'm going to leave you here I have to change-"
"No. Take the phone with you. You can face it toward the ceiling but don't leave it." He told me.
So I did what he said.
"You're very obedient today." He commented.
"I'm trying to make you pick me over the girl." I sighed, joking.
"Are you going to shop?" He asked.
"Yeah." I shrugged while getting changed into comfy clothes since it was rainy today.
More of my style outside of the boujeeness anyway."Let me see." He said and I grabbed the phone, showing what I was wearing.
"You're so pretty." He sighed.
I smiled.
"Please buy something. I want to see a small dent. Please? Not just the nails. But actually get yourself something. Doesn't have to be clothes, it can be books, candles, absolutely anything." He said and I grinned, putting on some light jewelry and my perfume and deodorant.
"Can I get myself-"
"Yes."
"You didn't let me finish." I frowned.
"Okay baby, what would you like to get?" He smiled, being a smartass.
"Lingerie." I chuckled.
"Absolutely."
"For when you come back?" I set the phone up in the kitchen to face me while I made myself a bagel with extra cream cheese and OJ.
"Yes."
"What do you like?"
"Anything if it's on you." He answered.
I rolled my eyes.
"Seriously though."
"I like black, white, I personally don't like red for you in lingerie. Granted I never seen it but you're so elegant I can't imagine it."
"Do you like garters?"
"Anything. Seriously. Whatever you're comfortable with. Even if it's normal undergarments I'll love it. All of it will end up on the floor anyway. All I want is you when I come back. No matter what form." He said.
I smiled.
"You're sweet."
"No, I have feelings for you, it's not trying to be a compliment, it's how I feel." He corrected.
I sighed, swooning internally.
"I... I think I'm going to go see my mom." I said.
"Yeah? Why?" He asked.
"Well, I don't know. As much as I loathe her, she's my mom? Like as a daughter, I love her, but human being to human being she's terrible and I hate her for what she did to her child. But maybe just a reminder of why she's there will be nice." I shrugged.
"Do whatever you have to do, tesoro."
"Yeah, I just feel bad. I feel like I should let go of her. But there was a time in my life that I remember and she was the best person I knew. And something in me is hoping I'll find that but I won't. She's not there anymore." I felt my heart hurt, wishing it was different.
"I can't tell you how to feel, but understand that your inner child will always love her, you're her daughter, you want what you once knew. Only you can heal baby Nessa, but I'm here for you, I'll support you. But do me a favor, if you know you'll get too emotional, do it when I can come to you." He frowned.
"I don't think I will. I think I feel this way now but when I hear her and see her I'll feel how I always do when I face her." I shrugged.
"Okay, my love. But I've got to let you go so I can take care of some things. If you need anything, let me know." He said.
I smiled.
"Thank you, I will." I hung up and sighed.
I wasn't sure what to do.
