CHAPTER TWENTY- FIVE

**Author's POV**

Kael stood firm, his blue eyes were blazing with authority as he faced Lucian. His presence was commanding, a stark contrast to Lucian's barely restrained fury.

"Lucian," he growled, his voice cold and steady. "You need to let this go. Seraphina is not yours and never will. Your obsession ends here or you face consequences."

Lucian's jaw tightened. His dark eyes flickered with a dangerous glow. "You speak as though I'd simply step aside. She's my mate. She's mine no matter what either of you says. I'll never let you take her away from me."

Kael’s snarl rippled through the clearing. “She's my mate now and Seraphina has chosen me. You have no claim over her, and you will respect her decision. Leave now, go back to your kingdom, Lucian, or I’ll make sure you regret staying.”

Seraphina stepped beside Kael, her shoulders straightened. “You rejected me, Lucian. I’ve told you before—I don’t belong to anyone. Last of all you. This ends today.”

Lucian’s gaze softened for a fleeting moment as he looked at her, but the darkness in his eyes quickly returned. “You don’t understand, Seraphina. I can’t just walk away from you. You’re the only thing that keeps me sane.”

Kael moves to block Lucian's view of Seraphina, his voice a low growl. "You will leave, Lucian. Now. Or I make you."

The two men locked eyes, the tension thick and oppressive. Finally, Lucian let out a frustrated growl and took a step back. "This isn't over," he said between gritted teeth. "You may have her now but I'm watching. I'll take back what is mine."

With that, Lucian turned and stormed out of the clearing, his mind racing with anger and unresolved feelings.

With that, Lucian turned and stormed out of the clearing, his mind raging with anger and unresolved feelings.

Seraphina released a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. Kael turned to her, his hands gently cupping her face. “Are you alright?”

She nodded, her voice soft. “I’m fine. Thank you for standing up for me.”

Kael’s lips brushed her forehead. “Always.”

Lucian stormed into the palace, as he entered inside his quarters.

"Prepare to leave," he said to Lyra, his voice sharp. "You're returning to the kingdom."

Lyra hesitated, her brows furrowing. “What about you?"

Lucian’s jaw tightened. “I'm staying," he snapped back. "I still have things to do."

Lyra eye's widened with disbelief as she paced their shared chambers, her fiery red hair catching the flickering candlelight as her frustration bubbled over. "This is madness, Lucian," she snapped. "You're making a fool of yourself, chasing after a woman that doesn't want you. Have you forgotten who you are? You are an Alpha."

Lucian sat in silence, his gaze distant. "You don't understand, Lyra. Seraphina is more than just a woman to me. She’s—”

"She's nothing to you!" Lyra interjected, her voice rising. "You’re throwing everything away for her—your pack, your pride, me!”

Lucian's expression darkened as he looked at her. "Go back to the Bloodmoon pack, Lyra. This doesn't concern you."

Lyra's emerald eyes narrowed. "Doesn't concern me! I am your wife and I've stood by you through thick and thin. Is this how you pay me back?"

“Leave,” Lucian said coldly. “You’re in my way. Go back to the pack and fulfill your role as Luna.”

Lyra’s heart clenched at his words, but she refused to cry. Instead, she turned on her heel and stormed out of their chambers, her mind racing. If Lucian wouldn’t listen to reason, she’d have to find another way to make him see sense.

Lucian alongside, Sam, his trusted guard stormed out of the palace and climbed into a waiting car. Lucian had no intention of leaving despite Kael's threat. Instead, he decided to bid his time at a hotel located at the heart of town, from enough from the palace to avoid suspicions, but close enough to keep an eye on Seraphina.

Lyra, however, had no intention of retreating to the Bloodmoon pack, just as her husband commanded. Late that evening, Lyra rode under the cover of darkness to Lunara’s estate.

"Lyra," Lunara greeted with a knowing smile. "Another late-night visit. We aren't friends, are we?"

Lyra stood, her body trembling as she tried to hold her tears. Her mind replayed Lucian's words again, and the humiliation she endured as his neglected wife. "Can I please stay here," her voice was low and cracking. "“Lucian has lost his mind. He’s neglected me and become overly obsessed with Seraphina."

Lunara’s eyes glinted with sympathy as she felt a pang of pity for Lyra. "Come on," she said, standing up and walking towards her. "You're welcome to stay."

Lunara pulled her into a comforting embrace. "Soon he'll come to realize you are the one for him," she muttered against Lyra's ears as she patted her back.

Lunara's comforting words stung her. Finally, Lyra let go of all the tears she has been holding back. Her sobs resonate across the room.

"It's fine," Lunara whispered. After they while, her sobs subsided as Lunara led her to sit on a nearby couch.

"I have loved him since we were kids," Lyra began, her voice low but firm. "I had envisioned a future with him," then her voice hardened, "but now, that slave girl had seduced him," she spat, her eyes burning with fury. "I will never allow it. I'd rather die than watch him because with her."

Lunara reached for her hands, pressing them softly. “Don't worry, I'll help you get your husband back. But it won’t be easy, and it certainly won’t be clean.”

Lyra’s lips curled into a smirk. “I’m not afraid of a little mess.”

Still in the hotel, Lucian and Sam spent days observing the palace’s routines and identifying weak points in its security. His persistence paid off when he discovered a disgruntled guard—a man eager to earn extra coin.

Late at night, Lucian met the guard in a secluded alley near the palace, handing him an envelope filled with money, and Lucian's voice was a cold whisper.

"I need you to release the elder from the dungeon," he instructed. "No one knows until he's gone."

The guard hesitated for a moment, glancing around anxiously. "You know the Elder is bound for good reason. If anyone finds out—”

"No one will find out," Lucian interrupted sharply. "Do your job well and you'll be compensated. Fail, and you wish you hadn't met me."

The guard swallowed hard and nodded. "Consider it done."

Lucian's lips twisted into a wicked grin as the guard vanished into the shadows. His plan was simple but cunning: turn the Elder to his side, stir up chaos, and pin the blame on Seraphina. With her reputation shattered, Kael would have no choice but to cast her out, leaving Lucian to swoop in as her savior. In her vulnerability, she would trust him—and eventually, she would be his.

In the hours of the night, the guards fumbled with the keys, his hand shaking as he unlocked the dungeon door. "Go. A car is waiting outside."

The Elder stepped out of the cell, his movements slow but deliberate. His dark magic crackled in the air around him, and his eyes burned with a vengeance as he prepared to unleash chaos upon those who had dared to imprison him.

Now, unseen forces were aligning, and chaos loomed closer.
