Chapter 72: Chapter Seventy-Two

Olivia

Anyone who doesn't have anyone to help them with kids is strong. It's been a full month since I gave birth and I am super tired, my breasts are sore and the little devils are growing up like they are being watered. But they are healthy. That's one thing I'm glad for.

Jason had to go back to work, although he doesn't take long hours anymore. Things have gone south. He said that his stand in CEO is slacking in his work and now he is looking for another one. But if he doesn't get someone soon he will have to go back to working again. He had him fired after the meeting he had rushed to a few weeks ago.

So now I spend most of my days alone with Mrs Belle. Jason works from home sometimes though so that he can help me with the kids. But today I'm alone, Mrs Belle had a family emergency again she needed to attend to. Jason said he will try to come after his meetings. My mom couldn't come too, she said she was sick. I've been handling three babies alone for the past four hours. Who decided to be cranky today.

Just as I'm about to sit down to rest my feet, I hear the doorbell ring. I'm not expecting anyone today, and Jason would have told me if he was having something delivered for me or if there was someone coming over. When I get to the door, I'm surprised by the person standing on the other side.

The last time I heard from or even saw this woman was on my wedding day when she came to ask for forgiveness. I have forgotten about her honestly. But right now I don't know how to feel about her being in my house. I don't even know how she got in because my security system doesn't just let anyone in unless I have given you the passcode.

"Hi, I'm sorry for just popping in like this. I asked Joseph to drop me by, I hope that's ok." She says, I'm sure sensing my reluctance to let her in.

And sure enough, I see his car parked on the driveway infront of the house. When he waves at me, I wave him back but not with the smile on his face. I don't know how to feel about this at all. I love him like a brother, but I don't like the popping up unexpectedly of his mother. No matter that she is also my husband's mother.

I open the door wide to let her in and close it behind her without a word. The last time she was in my home was back at the apartment, and that didn't go very well. And now she is here, what does she think we will talk about honestly? Because now it's only the two of us...I don't like this at all. And my feelings about her haven't changed either. One apology doesn't erase a bad welcome.

I hope my babies will remain asleep for the thirty minutes that she will be here because that's how long she is staying. If she wants to see her son, she can go see him at the office.

"Uhm can I get you anything then? Juice, tea?" Unfortunately I'm not allowed to touch any alcohol because I'm breastfeeding. And right now I'm glad for that.

And yes it's just an excuse because I'm petty like that. But I'm not going to let her get comfortable in my home.

"Juice sounds nice." She replies.

I guide her to the sitting room and tell her to sit down while I go get her a glass. When I come back with it and put it on the table infront of her then take my seat, the room goes dead silent. I don't say anything and neither does she. And honestly I can go all day like this, I'm used to silence, it doesn't bother me at all.

She suddenly clears her throat and I know she's going to apologize again.

"I am sorry again for the way I treated you before." She says and I don't speak or anything because she still hasn't given me a reason for her behaviour.

"I know I apologised before. And I really hope that you will find it in you to forgive me." Man, I wish I could believe that she is being sincere honestly.

I stay silent. I will let her talk until she has something sincere to actually say. Honestly if she starts being rude to me right now, maybe then I will say something, because then it will be sincere, the real way she feels about me, not this nonsense she is saying.

"Are you really not going to say anything? Look I'm trying here, ok? I don't like this distance between both my children and I."

"So it's my fault then?" I finally ask her.

"Well if you hadn't come into my son's life..." She suddenly stops her words and I laugh. I laugh because finally she gave me a reason, even though it's not sustainable, it's something.

"Then tell your son to divorce me. Tell him to stay away from me, if it means that much to you." I reply cooly.

It's a challenge I know she would never rise up to. Because she knows that she'd be making things worse if she does. But even without confronting her son, she's going to get in trouble with him anyway. I'm wondering if Joe knows that her brother watches my every move and also listens to everything being said in this house.

"You know I can't do that."

"Then honestly, there's nothing I can do for you. You can apologise as many times as you want, but until it's sincere, there's no forgiveness you will get from me." I reply then stand up to go pick up the phone to call a driver for her. But just before I dial her number I speak again.

"But then again there's really nothing to forgive. You didn't do me wrong at all, you did your son wrong. Maybe you should apologize to him." I say then dial the driver.

"Someone will be here to take you back to your residence. Don't worry, your son already knows that you are here." I tell her then pick up the baby monitor and start for the lift.

"So you're saying I must go then?" She asks me.

"Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. Look, even if you did stay, there's nothing for you and I to talk about. And I've got three babies that I need to take care of. So I don't have much time to listen to you telling me things you don't mean." Then I get into the lift and head on upstairs.

Just as I get into the bedroom my phone rings and I know it's my husband. I don't know if his mother believed me when I told her that her son knows she's here.

"You ok?" He asks me when I answer.

"Yes I am. Are you?"

"I'll be home in an hour. Love you."
