Chapter 53 he will pay
Alexander’s P.O.V. (Continued)
“Now what did Scarlett do?” I asked him in a pissed tone.
I never liked Scarlette and her family, and now they are getting on my nerves.
Hunter stood up after putting the glass on the table with a thud.
“She is outside your chamber, demanding your presence there.” He told me while walking towards the door.
“Wait.” I stopped him and slowly stood up too.
“What? Are you really going there?” Hunter asked me in disbelief.
“Yeah. My beloved sister wants to meet me. Of course, I am going to see her.” I answered him casually, thrusting my hands in my trousers’ pockets, a cold smirk on my lips dancing now.
He stared at me for a few seconds, and then a sly smirk crept on his lips.
“Let’s go.” He spoke cheerfully this time.
I just shook my head but walked out of the room behind him.
Bernard was still in the hospital. The doctor said that the assassin used silver blades and silver knuckles to hit Bernard.
All the punches were brutal, sending silver deep inside his blood, slowing his recovery as it affected his wolf, too.
“What’s her problem, man? It’s her son who messed with people’s lives, and then someone came for revenge. Why is she bothering you all the time?” Hunter continued muttering angrily, but it only made me smile while looking at him helplessly.
I furrowed my brow, and my smile vanished when I heard Scarlett screaming at the top of her lungs outside the chamber.
She was screaming like a shrew.
“What’s going on here?” Hunter roared angrily as soon as we stepped out of the chamber.
Scarlett stopped screaming and looked at me with tearful eyes filled with grievances as if I had done wrong to her.
“What’s the meaning of all of this, Scarlett?” I asked her coldly, and she immediately changed her expression into a pitiful one.
“What kind of brother are you to me, Alexander? Your nephew is still lying in the hospital, and yet you allowed those murderers a home…… a pack?” she accused me while crying, and I scoffed aloud.
“You mean to say that only your son is allowed to ruin lives and play with them as he wishes?” I asked her sarcastically.
She stopped weeping immediately and looked at me with a stunned expression.
“Because of you, I didn’t punish him for what he did to me back then, and yet you came here demanding justice for him?” I continued in the same tone, looking at her mockingly.
“Before accusing others, see yourself first, Scarlett. You called them murderers. Have you any evidence for any of their crimes?” I asked her again, tilting my head a little, still looking at him mockingly.
“I…..I….” she tried to say something, but just stuttered in fear.
“And do you think that only you and your son are intelligent enough to brand anyone with names like murderers, and we all sitting here are foolish?” I questioned her again without giving her a second to retort.
“You….. you are.” I cut her off again when she tried to say something.
“He turned me into a monster for his own greed, Scarlett. He is still alive because of you, and if you don’t want him to be killed for the capital offense he committed against me, go away and take care of him. When he wakes up, tell him that he needs to give the name of that person in a month or else I will not hesitate this time to bring his wrong deeds in front of the world.” I threatened her coldly before moving back to my chamber.
“You….. you can’t do this to me, Alexander. I am your sister.” She screamed at the top of her lungs behind me.
I stopped at the entrance of the chamber and glanced at her over my shoulder.
“And I am the king of all the people. My indulgence to you ends the day you asked me to spare him from the punishment. Dare question my decision again, and I will let the whole world know how great Luna Scarlett and her son Bernard are.” I replied to him in warning, keeping my voice cold and detached.
I heard a faint gasp coming from her, but I didn’t bother to see her.
“Someone, escort Luna Scarlett out.” I ordered the guards coldly while walking inside the chamber.
Hunter was walking silently behind me.
I didn’t storm inside. I just walked because I wasn’t angry. I was calm.
This wasn’t the calm before the storm.
I hadn’t had this calmness for a long time.
“Why do you still want to know the name of that girl, Alex?” Hunter asked me in a low and worried voice when we were about to reach my bedroom.
“Because I promised her that I would take her responsibility. I promised her that I would not let anyone go who harmed her. Who made me hurt her that brutally, Hunter. I am still her culprit. Even if she is dead, I want to know her name so that I can place her where she belongs.” I replied to him calmly and stopped at the entrance of my bedroom.
“You want to place her in your family?” Hunter asked me in a surprised tone.
I smiled bitterly. “This is the least I can do for her.” I whispered and slowly opened the door of my chamber.
That girl and Amelia…..
Both were like my salvation….
“If….if you don’t have any problem, Alex, then….. le…. Let me take her as my sister. Let me place her name under me.” Hunter asked me hesitantly.
I stopped in my tracks, processing what he just asked.
“What happened that night was also my fault. I also wronged her. If…. If I hadn’t gone out of the pack, leaving you alone, or if I had come back sooner, I would have saved her.” He continued in a guilt-filled tone.
I clenched my jaw tightly while listening to her.
“Do…. Do you know why I am protective towards Amelia and her son?” he asked me in a very low voice.
I glanced in his direction over my shoulder, but my gaze didn’t fall on him.
“Because I feel a connection with both of them. The second I saw her that day on the road, I felt this urge to protect her. I…. I don’t want to admit it, but that urge was so strong that I could go against you, too.” I was surprised to hear, but I could feel his sincerity in his words.
“Let’s talk about this tomorrow morning, Hunter. We had enough for today.” I replied to him calmly, but with a faint smile.
“Good night, Alex.” He mumbled before closing the door behind me.
I walked straight up to the window of the bedroom.
I looked at the sky towards the moon.
“No matter where you are. One day, I will find you, and Bernard will get the punishment that he deserves.” I promised that poor soul while looking at the moon with a blank but determined gaze.
