Chapter 154 Only Pampering You
I huffed angrily, "What do you mean sneaky? You have no idea - last time some media outlets directly reported me as a homewrecker. I don't have proof, but I just suspect it was Natasha and Knox behind it."
"That happened?"
Hearing this, Quincy was furious too.
She rolled up her sleeves and said, "And you could put up with that?"
"Of course not. I've already given Natasha a final notice - I want her to hold a press conference and clear this up."
"That's more like it!"
Quincy ground her teeth and said, "Those two jerks are getting off easy!"
"I hope they stay stuck together forever!"
Hearing my words, Quincy nodded in agreement, "Right, let them be stuck together forever!"
As she spoke, her stomach growled.
Only then did I remember she hadn't eaten yet.
"Alright, those people aren't worth getting upset over. You were sleeping so soundly earlier that I didn't wake you for food. Since you're up now, let's go eat together?"
With that, I pulled her up and we headed out.
We went to a restaurant downstairs from the office. After eating, I ordered a coffee and chatted casually with Quincy.
We sat there until evening, then I got up to drive and took her to a bar.
Night really was young people's time. The bar was packed and noisy, with countless men and women swaying their bodies in the dance floor, dancing freely.
I ordered two drinks and sat lazily with Quincy in a booth. Neither of us felt like going down to dance.
"Go on, relax a bit."
Seeing me urge her, Quincy shook her head and took a small sip of her drink.
"I used to have endless energy, but now, it's like I've suddenly lost interest in all this."
I sighed, "You're right. I don't seem interested either."
After hearing this, Quincy said thoughtfully, "That doesn't seem right. At our age, we should be full of energy, not like this."
With that, she jumped up and went to the center of the dance floor, starting to dance freely with the men and women around her.
Watching her full of energy, I smiled and raised my glass to her from afar.
As she danced, I suddenly noticed something wrong with the person next to her - that guy looked like Zachary!
The lights flashed, and when I looked carefully again, my blood felt like it had frozen.
The man twisting next to Quincy was really Zachary. What was he doing here?
I instinctively stood up, wanting to rush into the dance floor and pull Quincy away, but reason finally won over impulse. I slowly sat back down, staring at the two of them, my mind racing.
Was running into Zachary here a coincidence, or fate?
Thinking it might be fate's arrangement, my back went cold. Could I really not help Quincy avoid her past life's tragedy?
No, it had to be possible!
I was reborn, and many things had changed because of my rebirth.
Quincy would definitely be fine too. Thinking this, I suppressed the panic in my heart and sat back down, pretending nothing was wrong.
Before long, Quincy came back with a big smile on her face. Behind her was someone - it was Zachary.
"Helena, guess who I ran into?"
Quincy pulled Zachary out from behind her and pushed him in front of me, saying, "Do you remember Zachary?"
I stood up and thought for a moment, "The nail salon owner?"
"Yes, that's him!"
Quincy pressed him into a seat, "Sit down, we're all friends here, don't be shy."
"Ms. Lockwood, hello."
Zachary greeted me politely, seeming reserved.
He actually remembered me. Had he been keeping tabs on Quincy and the people around her?
Thinking this, my heart went cold. I pretended not to care and said, "Zachary, you have a good memory - you still remember me."
"No, it's just that Ms. Blake introduced me earlier, and that's when I remembered you."
Hearing his explanation, I felt relieved, then laughed at myself.
I was really being paranoid.
"What would you like to drink?"
Seeing me ask, Zachary looked at Quincy.
"Why are you looking at me? She's asking what you want to drink. Don't be shy."
Quincy smiled at him and said, "How about some strong liquor?"
Zachary quickly waved his hands, "No, no, I can't handle strong liquor."
Seeing him being so modest and low-key, Quincy wanted to tease him even more. She raised her hand, and soon a server came over.
Quincy pointed at Zachary and said, "Get him a Dragon Tongue."
"Yes."
After the server left, Quincy grinned mischievously, "Don't worry, if you really get drunk, I'll take you home."
Seeing Quincy's enthusiasm, Zachary gradually relaxed and joked, "Then I might have to get drunk on purpose."
Seeing the two of them chatting happily, my heart sank. I could tell that even if Quincy didn't love Zachary, she was very interested in him.
But I didn't know what Zachary's intentions were.
As I secretly observed him, I discovered something - Zachary was very alert. While I was watching him, I could always feel his occasional glances back at me.
I immediately understood. In my past life, for him to make Quincy so devoted to him, he must have had his unique qualities.
I quietly withdrew my gaze and chatted casually with them both as if nothing was wrong.
We stayed out until late at night before saying goodbye.
On the way back, I looked at Quincy, still excited, and wanted to ask what place Zachary held in her heart, but worried about alerting them, I decided to hold off for now.
After dropping Quincy off, it was already late at night. The lights in Henry and Maria's bedroom were off.
I tiptoed upstairs, and once there, I called Atlas, wanting him to help me investigate Zachary.
Naturally, I didn't mention the past life - I just told him that Zachary seemed different around Quincy, and I was worried Quincy might be deceived, so I wanted to check out Zachary's background first.
Hearing my words, Atlas agreed right away.
"I'll send it to you once I find out."
"Great, you're so good to me, Atlas."
I acted cute with him.
Atlas chuckled on the other end, "I'll get better and better at taking care of my Helena."
This Atlas, sweet talk just rolled off his tongue.
"So besides me, who else have you taken care of?"
Hearing my question, Atlas quickly denied it, "No one, only you."
