Chapter 142 Hiring a Bodyguard

Chapter 143 Tracking

Hearing this, I finally breathed a sigh of relief.

With Knox and John's family now tied together, the fight between us was just beginning.

No matter what schemes they came up with in this life, I was determined to win this tough battle!

I said, "Then I'll tell Mom in a bit that you're worried about our safety, Dad, so you've assigned each of us a bodyguard. We won't have to be afraid anymore."

"You're the clever one!"

Henry smiled and tapped my forehead with his finger, saying, "Alright, I'm going in to keep your mom company. If you and Atlas get bored, just go out for a walk. No need to rush back to the ward."

I knew Henry was giving Atlas and me some alone time. I could tell he was very pleased with Atlas.

Thinking about how Atlas had been running around taking care of everything today, my heart warmed. "Okay, Dad."

After Henry left, I looked at Atlas and said, "Want to take a walk in the garden?"

Atlas nodded and reached out his hand to me. I smiled and placed my hand in his palm.

In the garden, a gentle breeze was blowing—it was quite pleasant.

I turned to look at Atlas. "Thanks for everything today."

He squeezed my hand tighter and said, "You don't need to thank me."

"What are you planning to do next?"

Thinking of the harm Maria had suffered, anger surged in my heart. I said coldly, "This definitely has something to do with Grandma. I won't just let this go."

"Okay."

Atlas gripped my hand and said, "Even if you're against the whole world, I'll stand by your side."

Hearing this, I smiled and said, "Want to go to the police station?"

"Sure."

Atlas agreed, took my hand, and we headed to the parking lot. We got in the car and drove straight to the police station.

As soon as we got out of the car, Mira, who had gotten word of our arrival, came up to greet us.

"Ms. Lockwood, Mr. Lancaster, you're here."

I nodded and asked, "How did it go? Any progress?"

Mira shook her head, looking somewhat helpless. "Nothing. The guy just said he was looking for someone and went to the wrong floor."

"Plus, the police checked him out—no criminal record."

I frowned. "So the lead's gone cold again?"

Mira nodded, then added, "But don't worry, Ms. Lockwood. I'll keep an eye on this guy."

That was all we could do for now.

I glanced at Atlas. "Want to go in?"

"You stay out here. I'll go see him." Atlas said and walked inside.

Seeing him like this, I followed close behind.

Through the large glass window, I saw Atlas walk up to the man, lean down slightly, and say something. As soon as he finished speaking, the man's expression instantly turned ugly.

But Atlas didn't give him a chance to respond. He just pushed a piece of paper in front of him and turned to leave.

After Atlas turned around, I saw the man inside constantly wiping cold sweat from his forehead.

When Atlas came out, I hurried up to him. "How did it go? What did you say to him? He looked really scared."

Atlas glanced at the man through the window and smiled contemptuously. "Nothing much. I just told him who I am and let him know I can easily find out everything about him."

"I left him my phone number and told him to call me when he remembers something."

With that, Atlas waved at the man through the window. The man stood up in panic, not knowing what to do with his hands and feet.

"Mira, leave this guy to me."

Hearing Atlas say this, Mira instinctively looked at me. I nodded. "That works."

Seeing my agreement, Mira nodded slightly. "Ms. Lockwood, then I'll follow up on the investigation at the banquet. I'll report as soon as I have news."

"Good, thanks for your hard work."

After Mira left, Atlas took my hand and we got back in the car.

After a moment, when he still hadn't driven off, I felt a bit confused but held back my questions and waited quietly.

Before long, the man came out of the police station. After coming out, he looked around and went straight to a waiting taxi.

When the taxi started moving, Atlas gently pressed the gas pedal and quietly followed.

The taxi circled around the city for a while before stopping at a residential building area.

Seeing the man get out and walk straight into a run-down building, Atlas looked up and quietly watched the lights on the floors.

When a light came on upstairs, he took out his phone and made some arrangements. Soon, two cars pulled up.

Several large men got out of the cars. "Mr. Lancaster."

Atlas rolled down the car window, and his deep voice rang out. "Sixth floor, first room. Find out who ordered yesterday's incident."

"Yes!"

The men responded and headed upstairs.

After they all left, Atlas held my hand and said, "We'll have results soon."

I nodded. "Okay!"

The wait felt especially long, but fortunately Atlas was beside me, chatting quietly to keep me from getting bored. I was somewhat distracted, responding here and there.

Just when I was getting anxious, suddenly footsteps came from upstairs.

Soon, the men who had gone up came back down.

They came to the car and handed over a USB drive, bowing their heads. "Mr. Lancaster, he confessed everything. The video is in here. Please take a look."

"Good."

Atlas handed the USB drive to me, then said, "Let's go."

"Yes."

After the men responded, they quietly left and soon disappeared.

"Let's head back too. Hold on tight."

Atlas said as he pressed the gas pedal, and the car shot forward.

We soon arrived at the hospital. Back in the ward, I saw that Maria was already resting.

Hearing the noise, Henry got up and came to the lounge outside. "I'll stay here tonight. Atlas, take Helena home."

"Don't rush, Dad. Atlas and I have something to show you."

Seeing the serious expressions on Atlas and me, Henry became serious too.

He personally closed Maria's ward door, then turned and led Atlas and me to sit on the sofa in the lounge. "Go ahead."

I took the USB drive out of my pocket. Atlas found a laptop somewhere, inserted the drive, and opened it. "This is the man Helena saw in the elevator at Echo Point Castle."

"I had my people use some methods. This contains the interrogation results."

As Atlas finished speaking, a scream suddenly came from the opened laptop.

A clear image appeared as well. The man from earlier was surrounded by several burly men and tied to a chair.

"I'll talk, I'll tell you everything!"
