Chapter 9 Bizzare
But before Mira could take her leave, her maid Lena entered the room and brought her cookies and orange juice.
“Luna, I brought you some snacks.” Lena placed the tray on the table.
“Thanks.” Mira sat on the chair and munched on her snack. She looked at Lena. “Is Roda coming here today?” she asked.
Lena's brows furrowed. “The servant in charge of the laundry?”
“Yep,” Mira responded with a nod.
“I dunno, Luna. But if you want to talk to her I can bring her here,” Lena offered.
“OK. After you bring the tray back to the kitchen, bring Roda here. I have something to tell her,” Mira said casually.
“Copy Luna,” Lena replied.
After Mira finished eating her snack, she put the utensils in the tray and Lena took the tray back to the kitchen. Alone in the room, Mira walked to the window and looked below. She got a nice view of the garden and the fountain.
The perfect place to meet Luna Rosie today.
She looked heavenward, thanking God for giving her another chance at life but she was also asking for his help on how to solve her problem with Luna Rosie peacefully.
But there will be no peace between them because Luna Rosie wants her body back. But if that woman really wanted to get her husband back she needed to find a way to convince everyone that she was the true Luna Rosie and not her.
She caressed her baby bump, sighing heavily. For a moment she felt guilty because it looked like she had stolen someone’s baby. She was severing the bond between the real mother and her baby. It didn't feel right at all.
A deep sigh escaped her lips.
Can she be a good mother to her unborn child?
Why can’t she be fully happy? Why?
She felt sad and depressed, tears filled her eyes. She doesn't know why…but the happiness she experienced today…having a fabulous life is like a beautiful dream that can turn to dust at any moment.
She was in that state of despair when Alpha Gideon arrived in the room. He walked to her side and planted a kiss on her head. She turned around and faced him.
“What are you thinking, my love? Are you okay? Is there something bothering you?” he asked worriedly because he noticed her eyes wet with tears.
“Nothing, I’m just sad and anxious because I’m very slow to remember many things I have forgotten already,” she said, allowing her tears to fall from her eyes, letting him know how much she was suffering inside. She doesn't want to keep deceiving him, but she can’t give up her deception because she loves him so much and wants to stay by his side forever until she grows old and dies.
Alpha Gideon enveloped her in a loving embrace. “My love, don’t worry too much. Stop forcing yourself to remember everything all at once. Take your time. Don't be too hard on yourself. With or without your memory I will always love you and our baby. Stop crying in silence when I’m not around. I don’t want your health to suffer because of memory loss. Your health and the baby’s well-being are very important to me. That’s all you need to focus on. As for your memory I will help you remember everything after I come back from my trip to the countryside,” he said.
Mira’s brows snapped together. “W-what do you mean? You are going out of town? Why? When are you leaving?” she asked anxiously.
“Last month, my brothers and I were involved in a bloody war to drive away the rogue pack that was invading the Silent Ridge Pack, one of our territories. We thought we had already eradicated the invaders, but unfortunately they returned and harassed the pack, so my two brothers and I along with our men will go there and finish the invaders for good."
“But it’s dangerous! Just let others do your job. I’m scared that you will end up injured or worse dead on the battlefield. I fear what will happen to you. Please don’t go to war!” Mira pleaded, fearing for her husband’s safety. She clung to him in despair, scared that Sebastian would take her husband’s life during the battle as punishment for refusing his offer.
Alpha Gideon rubbed her back gently. “My love, don’t worry, for every battle I face as long as I'm with my brothers no one can defeat us. Nothing bad will happen to me. I’ll come back to you alive,” he assured her.
Mira cried harder. She can’t help but feel terrified that her husband will die on the battlefield. She doesn't want to lose him too soon.
“Shh, my love, please stop crying. Everything will be fine,” he said softly, rubbing her back gently. Honestly he hated going to war when his wife was in her most vulnerable state but duty and responsibility came first because he was the future heir to the throne of the Eclipse Hound Pack. Their current pack was elected as the leader responsible for the safety and unity of 25 territories within the next twenty years.
“How long will the battle last?” she asked between sobs.
“Two weeks at most. My brothers and I will chase the rogue packs to the end of the earth if needed so we can finally put an end to their endless brutal killings of innocent villagers living peacefully on our territory," Alpha Gideon explained.
“Then take me with you. I want to come with you to the village," she begged desperately, wanting to be with him day and night.
He shakes his head firmly. “No, my love. I can’t bring you to war. It's very dangerous because you are pregnant. I can give my all on the battlefield with peace of mind if you are here inside the mansion with my family. Stop being stubborn, okay? I will come home as soon as I can.”
She released a deep sigh of frustration. He would never agree to take her to the battlefield so she might as well stay in the mansion and deal with Luna Rosie. She had her own battle to face. “Fine, I will stay here.”
He looked deeply into her eyes. “Don’t be upset, my love.”
She smiled. “Worry no more, my love. I will stay here. I will take care of myself and our baby. I will pray for you and your brother's safety. I want you to come home to my side safe and victorious."
“Good girl,” he said, patting her head affectionately. He planted a kiss on her head and said, “I’m going back to my brothers to finish our discussion about the war.”
“OK.” Mira watched her husband leave the room anxiously, her heart heavy with worry. Her problems are adding up. Her husband is going to war and in every battle, death is always inevitable.
She took a deep breath and sat on the edge of the bed, trying to calm her jittery heart.
The door opened, and Lena and Roda entered the room.
Mira watched as Roda folded the fresh laundered bedsheets to be placed in the closet. She looked at Lena and said, “Make me a cup of ginger tea because I am feeling dizzy right now.”
“Sure Luna. I’ll be back in a minute.” Lena nodded her head and left the room.
Roda glanced at Luna Rosie anxiously. There's something she wants to say to her.
“What is it? Do you want to say something to me, Roda?” Mira asked.
“Um…Luna…I’m sorry about this…but Mira bribed me with money. She wanted me to pass the message on to you…that she wanted to talk to you,” Roda finally said.
Mira’s mouth twitched. Hmm, Luna Rosie is getting aggressive now. “What else did she tell you?”
Roda lowered her gaze. “She told me that if you want her to keep her mouth shut, you have no choice but to meet her in the back garden within one hour. She will be tending to the flowers there the whole day, waiting for you.”
Mira groaned. Luna Rosie is getting bolder. She now involves Roda and when third parties are involved, things might blow up in an unpleasant way. She went to the drawer, removed some cash from her wallet and gave it to Roda to silence her.
Roda looked at the money in her palm. “Luna, what is this money for?” she asked, surprised.
“The money is for your silence. Don’t tell anyone about Mira and I. Do you understand?” Mira said in a threatening tone.
Despite being truly confused about what's going on between Mira and Luna Rosie, Roda nodded her head to avoid trouble. “Copy Luna. Don’t worry…I won’t tell anyone about what's going on between you and Mira. I’ll go now.”
“Tell Mira I will meet her in the garden after one hour,” Mira said calmly.
“Copy Luna.” Roda immediately left the room.
Lena arrived in the room and served ginger tea. “Luna, here's your tea. Please drink it while it’s hot.”
“Thanks.” Mira picked up the cup, went to the window and sipped the tea while admiring the flowers below.
She was enjoying the gentle breeze of the wind caressing her face while sipping tea when she spotted her body which was now occupied by Luna Rosie. Her body was tending to the red roses near the fountain.
Mira gasped.
Oh my God!
She froze. Her heart stopped breathing for a few seconds. It’s surreal watching her own body move on its own without her soul inhabiting it.
Then her body looked up and their gazes met.
She swallowed the lump forming in her throat. She stared directly into Luna Rosie's soul. The woman looked at her angrily, her eyes flashing with murderous intent.
The message Luna Rosie sent her was clear. She is dying to get rid of her.
The experience was so bizarre that she trembled to the core. Strength left her body. The cup slipped from her fingers and fell to the floor in a loud thud. The splitting sound of broken glass scattered on the floor jolted her back to her senses.
