Chapter 52 He Cares!
A few days later.
The pack doctor has already discharged Alpha Gideon from his care because the injuries in his arms are healing well.
Luna Rosie was beaming happily, as she exited the connecting door, passing Mira’s room.
“You look happy today,” Mira commented casually. "May I know why?"
“Because my husband will be returning to our room today, that’s why I’m happy,” Luna Rosie responded in a thrilled voice.
“I’m happy for you,” Mira sincerely said, as she continued sipping her hot chocolate milk.
Luna Rosie felt Mira’s words were not sincere enough, so she glared at her. “I warned you Mira, don’t seduce my husband!”
Mira took a deep breath and said, “Don’t worry, I have no plans to seduce your husband with your body. Besides, worry not, you have already installed the padlock on both sides of the door and you have the key. Your husband and I cannot see or meet each other. And I have no plans to violate your order. I hope you are happy now,” she said calmly.
The scowl on Luna Rosie’s face deepened, her jealousy intensified. “You are so annoying. You have already destroyed my mood today!”
Mira put the cup down on the table. “Calm down, I’m not trying to destroy your mood.”
“You are so irritating. Don’t ever talk to me again unless it’s very important!” Luna Rosie hissed and left the room, fuming in anger.
Frowning, Lena looked at the door and then at Mira. She was arranging flowers in the vase when the moody Luna Rosie erupted after entering the room. “What’s happening to her?” she asked.
Mira shrugged. “Don’t mind her. Luna Rosie is just afraid that I will seduce her husband. It’s kind of ironic that the person she got jealous of was her own body. I can’t blame her though…”
Lena scratched her head in bewilderment. “I still can’t believe that the soul swap actually happened between you and Luna Rosie. It’s so weird and bizarre! My mind refuses to believe it,” she said, shaking her head.
Mira sighed. “Just accept things as they are. Don't question what has already happened because you might go insane trying to understand the situation. You need to believe that the soul swap has taken place and I don’t know how long this strange situation will last. Soul swap is real and Luna Rosie and I are living evidence of it,” she said as she continued sipping her hot chocolate milk.
Lena nodded her head. “You are right, Luna. I will just shut my mouth and pretend the soul swap didn't happen.”
“Please do that for your own peace of mind,” Mira said, pleased that Lena was cooperative and slowly coming around to accepting the things she couldn’t comprehend. What would Lena think if she told her she had an invisible pet snake living in the room with her? The poor girl might go crazy.
After she finished drinking her chocolate milk, she rose to her feet and walked back and forth inside the room for her morning exercise routine.
She would love to walk in the hallway outside the room but is afraid she might cross paths with one of the family members outside. She can’t look them in the eyes without feeling ashamed of herself.
The only place she can be herself is inside this room. No one will judge her here.
Although she liked this room, her heart still yearns for the bungalow house. She prefers the environment there, far away from the royal family.
Right now, even if she was holed up in the room, she couldn't avoid feeling uneasy. There is that nagging feeling in the pit of her stomach that Luna Rosie might blow up at any given moment because of her growing anger and jealousy.
The truth is, she was silently hoping to see Alpha Gideon once again.
But with Luna Rosie around, barricading her husband, that hope becomes a distant fantasy.
She no longer desires to have a romantic relationship with Alpha Gideon to avoid Luna Rosie’s wrath. She just wants to see his handsome face once in a while. That's enough for her.
She looked at her right hand, the hand that gave him a handjob several times. She blushed, remembering so well how good it was to pleasure him and the taste of his lips in her mouth was so heavenly.
Damn, she better not think of those lewd senses, it will only trigger the heat coiling in her belly.
She pushed away the obscene thoughts from her mind, keeping in mind Luna Rosie’s warning not to cross the forbidden line, not to seduce her husband using her own body.
She released a deep sigh, prompting Lena to look in her direction. “What’s wrong, Luna? Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” Mira smiled.
After some time, she said, “Um, you don’t have to call me Luna all the time. If we are here in the room, you can call me by my name,” she suggested.
Lena shakes her head. “No. I prefer to call you Luna anywhere and anytime because I’m afraid that if I start calling you Mira I will get used to it and other servants might hear me. They will be confused by why I call you Mira. So in order to prevent myself from making mistakes, I will just call you Luna all the time.”
“OK, it’s up to you,” Mira said. She glanced at the bed, wondering what her pet snake was doing underneath the bed.
She wanted to send Lena out of the room for a while so she could pet Brownie. Hmm, she already knows what to do. “Lena, I am craving green tea right now. Can you please make me one?” she requested politely.
“Sure, give me a moment.” Lena finished arranging the flowers in the vase and left the room.
The moment she was alone in the room, Mira called her pet. “Brownie, where are you? Come out, I want to see you,” she said.
The brown snake came out of its hiding place beneath the bed and slithered into Mira’s awaiting hand.
“There you are!” Mira smiled and began patting the snake's head and body.
She leveled her head with the snake’s eyes and said, “Little snake. Where do you come from?” she asked even though she knew the snake couldn't talk. “I wonder what your origin is because you clearly do not belong in this world. You are the first snake I’ve seen who is invisible. Did you just fall from the sky? Who is your owner? Is your owner an angel, a demon or a witch?”
The snake's red tongue waggled dangerously while staring at Mira’s face.
“Can you understand me, Brownie? Can you understand my question? Just nod your head like this if you want to say yes. And shake your head like this if you want to say no, OK?” She made head gestures for the snake to follow.
“Did you get it?” Mira asked.
Surprisingly the snake nodded its head.
“Great!” Mira was ecstatic. “Alright, let’s begin. Are you a bad snake?”
The snake shakes its head first and then nods its head afterwards, confusing Mira.
“I will repeat my question. Are you a bad or a good snake?” she asked.
The snake shook its head then nodded.
“Huh?” Mira sighed in frustration. It seems the snake was confused by her instructions. Sigh. Brownie can’t get it right.
“Alright, let’s try again. Is your original owner or master a good person or bad?” she inquired.
The snake nodded its head and then shook its head a few moments later.
Mira groaned in dismay. “Alright, forget about it."
She gathered the snake and put it in her lap. “Brownie, you must not hurt my maid Lena and the people living in this mansion. I don’t care where you came from, but you must promise me one thing, you can’t hurt anyone in this house. OK?”
The snake nodded its head.
“Good!” Mira laughed. “Finally, you got it right this time.”
She was about to continue chatting with her pet when the door opened and Lena entered the room, holding a tray.
“Luna, here's your tea,” Lena said and placed the tray on the table.
“Thank you.” Mira put the snake down on the bed and rose to her feet. This time, Brownie didn't hide under the bed, it curled up under the pillow.
Mira picked up the cup and sipped the green tea, glancing at her pet snake hiding under the pillow.
It's a good thing that her pet is invisible. It saves her from explaining about its existence to Lena and to other people in the house.
“Luna, on the way up here, I saw Alpha Gideon climbing the stairs. Following behind him was Luna Rosie. When no one was around to see them together, the couple entered their room quickly,” Lena said.
“I see…” Mira looked at the connecting door. He’s finally here! Her eyes shimmered in delight as her heart beat wildly in her rib cage. Her beloved was already in the next room. Awesome! She felt excited.
Fifteen minutes later, the connecting door opened and Luna Rosie exited the door, stepping into Mira’s room. She quickly closed the door and put the padlock in place, making sure the door couldn't be opened on both sides while she was away.
She glared at Mira and Lena, giving them a silent warning before leaving the room.
After Luna Rosie was gone from the room, Lena came to Mira's side and whispered, “Luna Rosie is caging Alpha Gideon. Jeez, I can’t believe it!” She gushed in disbelief and astonishment.
Mira shook her head. “No. She is not trapping her husband in a cage. She is just careful that Alpha Gideon and I can't see each other again,” she said grimly.
Suddenly, they heard three consecutive knocks on the connecting door, originating from Luna Rosie’s room.
Mira went to the connecting door and responded by knocking on the door three times.
Lena’s forehead furrowed. “Who is knocking on the door?”
“Obviously it’s Alpha Gideon. He's asking if I am alright here so I responded in the same way,” Mira replied casually. She went back to the bed and sat down, staring at the connecting door, wondering why he did what he did and why she even responded?
She looked at Lena and said, “Don’t tell Luna Rosie that her husband knocked on the door and I responded. OK?”
Lena nodded her head. “Sure! I didn’t see or hear anything.”
Pleased with Lena’s response, Mira lay down on the bed, facing the wall, wearing a bright smile on her face.
He cares!
