Chapter 50 My Space
Two hours later.
The day was starting to fade away, slowly giving way to the darkness of the night.
The cook’s assistant arrived at the gazebo and announced, “Luna Rosie, your food is ready.”
“OK, thanks,” both Mira and Luna Rosie replied in chorus.
The maid left the gazebo and returned to the kitchen.
Luna Rosie stood up. “You are going to have an early dinner here, because I will have dinner with my husband in his room. Then afterwards, we will go back to the house so you can finally settle into your new room,” she said.
“OK.” Mira nodded her head. After Luna Rosie left, she turned on the light, flooding the gazebo with warm light. She looked at the darkening surroundings, the evening is coming.
“Where is Brownie?” she asked, looking for her new pet.
As if on cue, she saw the leaves of the teal plant shaking. “Ah, there you are!” She smiled brightly. She couldn't call her pet to join her because she would have dinner soon.
A few minutes later, Luna Rosie returned with a tray filled with Mira’s food. She placed the tray on the table and said, “Bon appetit.”
“Thank you,” Mira replied and began eating.
Luna Rosie left the gazebo, went back to the kitchen and brought food to her husband’s room. She placed the tray on the table and looked at him. "It's dinner time. Are you hungry, my love?" she asked.
Alpha Gideen nodded his head. “Yup. What’s for dinner?” he asked.
“Your favorite, beef steak and chicken soup with lots of ginger and onions,” she replied cheerily.
“Alright, let’s eat! I’m starving,” he said and sat upright on the bed.
Luna Rosie placed the tray on his lap and began feeding him. “Um, can I take my veil off my face? It's troublesome,” she said, asking for his permission.
“Go ahead,” he replied. He didn't look at her when she removed the veil from her face.
Luna Rosie fed him the food. After her husband finished eating his meal, she ate her meal on the table while he continued watching the early evening news on TV.
After eating, she asked him, “Do you want coffee after half an hour?”
"Yes please,” he responded without looking at her.
Luna Rosie was upset. He was deliberately avoiding seeing her face, so annoying. She can’t blame him though, her face looks hideous to look at. She can’t even bear watching her reflection in the mirror even for a few minutes.
She reluctantly placed the veil back on her face. She needs to get rid of the scars on her face as soon as possible so that she can finally stop wearing the annoying veil. After her husband recovers from his injuries, seeing a face surgeon will be her top priority.
She left the room and deposited the dirty dishes in the sink in the kitchen, then she returned to the garden to check on Mira. When she arrived there, Mira had already finished eating and the dirty dishes were piled neatly back onto the tray.
She picked it up and said, “I will bring the dirty dishes to the kitchen. Before I go, do you need anything else, your highness?"
“Nothing so far. Milk and vitamins for the baby after one hour,” Mira said casually.
“OK.” Luna Rosie left the garden and brought the dirty dishes back to the kitchen.
Afterward, she proceeded to the living room, climbed the stairs and went straight to her room. When she arrived there the maids were in the process of cleaning the room, sweeping the debris from the floor and putting them in the trash can.
Wow. The job is done! Luna Rosie was pleased with the speedy construction of the door. A few minutes more and she can finally get rid of Mira!
She inspected the door. Nice. It could be locked on both sides. All she needs is a padlock and a key and everything will work out according to her plan.
Half an hour later, the maids finished cleaning the room and left.
Luna Rosie was left alone in the room. She removed the cover and dusted the bed. She went to the closet and grabbed some extra bed sheets, pillows and a blanket for Mira’s room. Then she brought Mira's bags into the room as well.
Done, she left the room and went back to the garden to get Mira and show her her new room.
When she arrived at the gazebo, she heard Mira talking to someone. Her forehead furrowed. Weird. Who is she talking to? She saw no one. Is Mira going crazy?
She entered the gazebo, frowning. “I heard you're talking to someone just now. Are you talking to yourself aloud?” she asked.
“Yes. I’m talking to myself. I feel bored, that's why,” Mira responded with a smile.
“I see, I thought you were going insane.” Luna Rosie rolled her eyes. “Get up from the sofa. It’s time to go back to the house so you can settle into your new room.”
“Great!” Mira replied in a thrilled voice. She stood up and followed Luna Rosie back to the house.
When they arrived in the room, Mira was surprised to see the bags near the bed. She looked at Luna Rosie and said, “Oh, thank you for bringing my bags here. They are a bit heavy.”
“Don’t mention it,” Luna Rosie replied. “I will help you put a new bed sheet on the bed, then you can put your clothes in the closet. I will leave you alone on your own in a few minutes,” she added, replacing the old bed sheet with the new ones.
After her chores were done, Luna Rosie left the room.
Mira stood in the middle of the room, basking in the silence while admiring the room. She took a deep breath and sat on the bed.
This is it!
She smiles brightly.
Finally she has her own room! A dream come true!
Luna Rosie can finally breathe in relief after getting rid of her.
She glanced at the door. The door that connects her to the couple.
What is the future waiting for the three of them?
What is the future waiting for her?
After a few minutes of musing, she stood up, unzipped the bags and began putting the clothes on the bed. Then she folded them neatly before arranging them in the closet.
After she finished putting all her stuff in the closets and toiletries in the bathroom, she lay down on the bed to rest.
At 7:00, Luna Rosie entered the room with a glass of milk and vitamins for the baby.
“How’s your new room?” Luna Rosie asked.
“Awesome! Thank you for your help,” Mira replied cheerily.
"Drink milk now and sleep early,” Luna Rosie said as if talking to a child.
“Okie Dokie.” Mira obeyed and drank the milk.
Luna Rosie left the room and returned to the kitchen downstairs. She made coffee for her husband. When she arrived in his room, he was no longer watching TV. He was staring absentmindedly at the ceiling, in deep thought.
“Your coffee is here, my love.” Luna Rosie put the tray on the bed. “Are you ready to drink it?” she asked.
“Yes please,” he replied and sat upright on the bed.
Luna Rosie assisted her husband in drinking his coffee. “The connecting door was finished,” she informed him.
“Good,” he murmured.
Before he could ask about Mira, she quickly added, "I have already settled Mira comfortably into her new room and she likes it.”
“OK,” he said casually.
After he finished drinking the coffee, he said, “In three days I will be returning to our room upstairs.”
“Fantastic. I can’t wait!” Luna Rosie gushes in a thrilled voice. She and her husband can finally sleep in the same room. But there is a minor problem. “Um, my love, when we are back in our room together, is it okay if I don’t wear a veil on my face anymore?”
“OK. No problem, but don't be surprised if I look the other way while you are talking to me. Don’t feel hurt if I don't look at you and meet your eyes. You already understand why,” he said, avoiding her gaze.
Ouch! Rosie felt like she had been punched in the stomach by her very own husband. His words hurt her badly. Tears filled her eyes. Obviously, he couldn't stand seeing her ugly face. She sadly bit down her lower lip. “It’s okay, I understand..."
“I’m so sorry for this, my love,” he apologized sincerely.
“It’s okay. I understand why you are behaving this way towards me. Once I get my body back, things will return to normal between us,” she said wistfully, her tone filled with sadness and bitterness.
She put the mug on the tray and left the room. She went to the kitchen and put the mug in the sink. Afterward, she went upstairs to her room to retire for the night.
After brushing her teeth, she donned her pajamas and lay down on the bed, getting ready to sleep. She didn't bother going back downstairs to bid her husband goodnight. She was upset at his behaviour.
She shut her eyes to sleep.
Meanwhile...
In Mira’s room, she can be seen lying on the bed, wide awake, staring at the ceiling of the room. Brownie the snake was curled up beside her on the bed.
She looked at her pet and smiled, amazed by the presence of her invisible companion, sleeping like a baby in her bed.
Time passes quickly.
Luna Rosie was already sleeping soundly in her room.
The moment Mira started yawning, she shut her eyes and drifted into a deep slumber.
As for the snake, it suddenly opened its eyes, wide awake, staring intently at Mira’s face.
