Chapter 17 Good News

Chapter 17 Good News
The gloomy morning passed quickly.
Mira ate lunch with the royal family in the dining room. This time the atmosphere was even more depressing because of the absence of three brothers. They carried on eating in silence.
After lunch, Mira decided to do deep brainstorming about her next move while lying in bed. After thorough thinking, her head began to ache. She closed her eyes and gave her mind a rest.
She fell asleep for an hour. When she woke up she decided to see the Luna Queen to inform her that she would give Lena a two-week vacation.
The Luna Queen was sitting on the sofa in the living room, sipping her favorite tea when Mira found her.
Mira sat on the sofa and bowed her head. “Greetings, Luna Mother. Can I have your time please? I have something important to tell you…”
“Sure, speak freely my dear.” Luna Rebecca put the teacup on the center table and gave her daughter-in-law her full attention.
“Um, I gave Lena a two-week vacation so she could go home and spend time with her family. She will leave tomorrow. Lena has not seen her family for three years. She deserves a long rest and is eager to be reunited with her family. Her parents are currently sick. I hope you won’t object, Mother,” Mira said in a pleading tone.
Luna Rebecca fell silent for a moment then said, “I don’t have an objection, dear, but why for too long? And who will take care of you especially now that you have lost your memory and you are also pregnant?"
Mira smiled. “I’m fine, Mother. I’m healthy except for some occasional headaches and pregnancy symptoms. I’m a grown-up woman. I can take care of myself. Besides, I’m planning to get a temporary maid to assist me while Lena is on vacation,” she explained calmly.
“Ah, okay. No problem then. So who is the temporary maid that you have chosen?” Luna Rebecca asked.
“It’s Mira from the servants' quarters at the back of the mansion,” Mira replied casually.
Luna Rebecca frowned, surprised by her choice. “Oh…but why her? There are far more capable maids in the mansion to choose from.”
Mira shrugged off. “No particular reason, Mother. I just like her. Among the servants she is the most silent, the most shy, and the most pitiable of them all. I want her to serve me. Why? Is this going to be a big problem? Besides, it's only for two weeks. After Lena came back from her vacation, I no longer needed Mira’s services. I hope you won’t object, Mother,” she said earnestly.
“OK fine, no problem. And you are right, among the servants we have here in the mansion, Mira is the most pitiable due to the scars on her face. But if you really want her to be your temporary maid, go ahead, you have my permission. As for Lena’s vacation I also approve of it. What else do you want, dear? Come on tell me…” Luna Rebecca said with a smile.
“That’s all," Mira beamed. She was pleased with Luna Queen’s cooperation. “Thank you so much, Mother. I appreciate it very much.”
Luna Rebecca smiled. “No problem, dear.”
"I will take leave now, Mother. I’m going to the garden to breathe some fresh air,” Mira said. She moved to the entrance of the mansion, and walked on the path leading to the garden.
Upon arriving in the garden she went straight to the gazebo, lowered herself onto the sofa and scanned the surroundings to find Luna Rosie.
She didn’t wait long, she saw the bitch approaching her location.
“Good afternoon, Mira. How’s your day?” Luna Rosie asked while entering the gazebo.
“I’m fine,” Mira replied.
“I woke up early and saw my husband left with his brothers to go to the battlefield while you were still sleeping in your bed. Such a lazy wife you are!” Luna Rosie sneered.
Mira sighed. “What can you expect from a pregnant lady? Ever since I got pregnant I always wake up late in the morning. It's due to my pregnancy, so don’t blame me,” she said with a smirk, caressing her baby bump lovingly.
“I hate seeing you like this, owning my unborn child! My blood is boiling in anger because of your innocent act of pretending you are me. The degree of your shamelessness is so fucking annoying!” Luna Rosie snarled.
Mira rolled her eyes. “Jeez, calm down. I’m sure you will feel happy after I tell you the good news. Do you want to know what the good news is?”
Luna Rosie growled. “Spill the beans. Don’t make me wait for it. Stupid servant!” She glowered, swearing profanities under her breath.
Mira smirked. “I gave Lena a two-week vacation to her hometown. She will leave the mansion tomorrow morning.”
Luna Rosie huffed. “I don’t care about Lena. How did it become good news?
“Since I have no personal maid to assist me, I told Luna Queen that I would choose you to be my temporary maid while Lena is on vacation. Congratulations, you are now my personal maid beginning tomorrow!” Mira observed the bitch's face as she revealed the good news.
Luna Rosie was speechless stunned by the good news. Wow! She could finally live in the mansion again and stay in her room. No more suffering. Amazing! She felt ecstatic.
Mira plastered a smile on her face. “Are you happy now? You should thank me.”
The joy on Luna Rosie's face faded instantly. “Why are you doing this? Are you planning something?” she asked suspiciously.
Mira sighed. “You told me that if I don't hire you as my personal maid you will tell Luna Raquel the truth about the soul switch. I’m scared that you will expose me so I will give you what you want.”
Luna Rosie smiled triumphantly. “You are easy to scare. I could easily kill you while you are sleeping in your bed at night or I could put poison in your food to get rid of you,” she said wickedly, her eyes flashing with murderous intent.
Mira brushed off Luna Rosie’s dubious threat. “Use your head wisely. Think twice before killing me. If I die, your beautiful body and your unborn child will also die with me. What can you gain from murdering me? If you plan on killing me, wait until I give birth to your child. That is the perfect time to kill me. Just be prepared to lose your beautiful body though. Besides, we don’t know yet if your husband can accept your ugly face. I bet he will find your face disgusting to look at,” she said icily, her tone filled with mockery.
Enraged, Luna Rosie was about to slap Mira’s face but that was also the moment Lena appeared in the garden, holding a tray filled with tasty snacks.
Nostrils flaring in anger, Luna Rosie left the gazebo, wanting to vent her anger somewhere.
