Chapter 90: Kept and Still a Third Party
"Who's this amazing doctor you're talking about?" Emily asked, puzzled. She didn't remember ever having Bianca as a student. If Chase wasn't lying, then Bianca must have been. Given how much Chase valued Aurora, he wouldn't lie about something like this.
So, it had to be Bianca who was lying. And James was likely in on it too.
Emily was determined to find out who dared to impersonate her.
"What's the matter? Jealous? Trying to steal Bianca's teacher too? Don't even think about it. I'm not stupid enough to tell you who it is. I'm just here to warn you—hurt Bianca again, and I won't care about our family ties," Chase said coldly.
Emily scoffed, "You really believe Bianca? Just wait and see. Don't come crawling to me when you've regretted it!"
She got it now. Bianca must've found someone to impersonate her, and Chase bought it without a second thought. Aurora's illness wasn't that hard to treat. There were many skilled people out there, so it wasn't surprising someone could cure her. But the poison Aurora had? Only Emily could deal with that.
Emily hung up without another word, waiting for the moment Chase would regret his actions. Bianca probably didn't expect Chase to be so foolish. He couldn't wait to show off to Emily that he had found someone to help Aurora.
Chase didn't expect Emily to be so dismissive, even hanging up on him and cursing Aurora. He was so angry he almost smashed his phone.
Emily, however, smirked. Chase still had time to worry about Aurora, but if she remembered correctly, rumors about him would soon spread like wildfire online. She didn't even need to lift a finger; Chase would ruin himself. She didn't care about her reputation, but if someone was using her name, she wouldn't stand for it.
Chase's silence was no problem. Aurora would know who Bianca's teacher was. Emily quickly used her computer to find Aurora's private number and called her.
"Hello, who is this?" Aurora's voice was as sweet and gentle as Chase had described.
Emily had no personal grudge against Aurora in this life. As long as Aurora didn't target her, she wouldn't target Aurora. So, she spoke kindly, "Ms. Rivera, I heard you found a highly skilled doctor. May I know who this doctor is?"
Aurora frowned. She had just found out about the doctor herself. How did this person know? And why ask her if they already knew?
"Who are you, and who told you this?" Aurora asked.
"Ms. Rivera, who do you think told me? And if I have your private number, do you think it's a coincidence I know about this?" Emily countered.
Her ambiguous response made Aurora think. Could it be one of Chase's friends?
"Are you one of Chase’s friends? If so, why not ask him directly instead of coming to me?" Aurora replied cautiously.
Emily lowered her voice and mentioned a place and a name. "Ms. Rivera, I mean no harm. I just want to know the name of this skilled doctor. Or a photo would do. But if you don’t tell me, I might not be so kind."
Emily had used her past life’s knowledge, mentioning a man who had once supported Aurora and the place he had bought her a house. Aurora was terrified. If this got out, it would destroy her career, especially since the man was married.
Aurora’s face turned pale. Her already weak body almost gave out from the shock. She dug her nails into her palm to stay conscious. "I heard the doctor’s name is Brad Thornton. Bianca and Mr. Smith found him. What do you want with Brad?"
Aurora couldn’t afford not to answer but was puzzled why someone who could find out so much about her couldn’t find Brad.
Emily replied coolly, "That’s not your concern. But if I were you, I’d rely less on men and more on finding trustworthy friends and doctors."
"Thank you, I understand. I’ve told you Brad’s name. You promise not to say anything about what you mentioned?" Aurora was more concerned about her reputation than Emily’s words.
"I’m not interested in your private life. Don’t worry, I won’t spread it," Emily said and hung up.
She quickly researched "Brad" and found his details. If he was posing as a skilled doctor, he must have some medical knowledge, or he’d get caught. And with James involved, it was likely someone would help him pull off this act.
Emily soon discovered Brad’s identity. He had a connection to Floyd, having been his classmate, but was expelled for certain reasons. Floyd’s move to SilverLight City was partly due to Brad. It seemed old grudges were at play, and Emily decided to settle them.
No wonder someone like Brad could be easily swayed by Bianca and James. Driven by greed, he was the perfect pawn.
Emily compiled the information and sent it to Aaron. She then called him. "I just sent you some info. I need you to have someone keep an eye on this guy, see who he’s treating, and let me know so I can handle it personally."
Aaron quickly reviewed the email. "What’s the deal, Emily? Did he cross you, or are you helping Floyd?"
Emily was known for her kind heart, but she wouldn’t meddle in Floyd’s affairs without his consent. This sudden action was unusual.
"He crossed me," Emily explained briefly, recounting how Bianca and James had someone impersonate her.
"Someone dared to impersonate you? This Brad must be either brave or stupid. Don’t worry, now that I know, I won’t let him continue," Aaron assured her.
