Chapter 45 You Were Planning This All Along
Hospital.
Luxury VIP Room.
"What are you doing here?"
After Bianca sent James the link and he watched it, she suggested he come to the hospital to see the real head of the Smith family before anyone else arrived.
But as soon as they entered the room, they found Emily standing by the bed.
"I come and go as I please. What’s it to you?"
Emily had just finished giving Daniel an injection and accompanying the ambulance to the hospital.
After waiting for Daniel to be transferred to the VIP room once he was out of danger, she ran into these two fools.
Emily was exhausted and irritated, so her tone was naturally sharp.
"Emily, how can you be so rude and say such things?"
Bianca hadn’t even said anything yet, just showed a pitiful expression, and James immediately jumped in to scold Emily, feeling sorry for Bianca.
They hadn’t connected Emily with the girl in the video who saved Daniel.
On one hand, they didn’t believe she had such medical skills.
On the other hand, Emily had changed into clothes York had prepared for her at some point.
"I’ll speak however I want. If you don’t like it, don’t provoke me!" Emily responded coldly.
"You’re simply unreasonable and beyond help! If you keep this up, it seems you’re really not fit to marry me!"
James was still living in his own world.
He still believed that Emily couldn’t possibly give him up.
So he dared to criticize Emily so arrogantly.
Emily was almost amused by his delusions.
"Who cares about marrying you? Have you forgotten? We are already broken! Up!" she reminded him seriously.
James frowned.
Then he sneered, "You’re just fooling yourself. Or maybe..."
His gaze fell on Daniel lying in the bed.
Daniel was someone he could only look up to.
Thinking about what Emily might be planning, his face turned cold as ice.
His words became particularly sinister, "You wouldn’t be trying to cozy up to Daniel, hoping to get his approval, which is why you’re acting so recklessly, would you?"
Bianca was still puzzled.
Why was Emily suddenly here?
For a moment, she couldn’t help but wonder if Emily was the girl in the video.
James’s words brought her worried heart back to reality.
She quickly said, "Emily, it's one thing for you to mess around usually, but there’s a limit. Mr. Smith is not someone you can approach casually. If you anger Mr. Smith, even if our family wants to help you, there’s nothing we can do, you know?"
James sneered, "Daniel is not like Bianca and me, who tolerate your nonsense for your own good! If you anger Daniel, you’ll just disappear!"
He wanted to instill fear in Emily, hoping she would restrain herself.
"I've already left the Johnson family. I have nothing to do with Bianca, and I have no ties to you, my ex-fiancé. Save your fake kindness and stop meddling in my affairs."
Emily was clearly impatient.
"Emily, what you said really hurts our feelings. The family took you in from the trash, how could we truly not care about you? Stop making trouble and apologize to James. Even if he has a good temper, he can’t be treated like this."
Bianca’s eyes welled up with tears, her body swaying as if she might faint.
"Bianca, don’t hurt yourself over someone who isn’t worth it." James quickly supported Bianca, comforting her.
Then he turned to Emily, coldly shouting, "If you want to ruin yourself, don’t drag Bianca into it!"
"Shut up!" Emily snapped, noticing the person in the bed frown.
Such a handsome sleeping face shouldn't be disturbed. "If you want to argue, do it outside. No one's stopping you. But if you disturb the patient, don't blame me for being rude."
Her eyes were sharp with warning.
"Emily, I think the one who should leave is you. Are you mad because I called out your intentions and now you want to kick us out? Look at who you are, do you have the right to give orders here?"
James felt a strange chill under Emily's gaze, but he suppressed it and retorted.
"You're so annoying!"
At that moment, a clear, magnetic voice rang out.
Everyone turned to the source of the voice.
"Daniel, thank goodness you're awake!"
James immediately dropped his cold demeanor, smiling as he spoke. His smile carried a hint of flattery.
Bianca knew Daniel was stunning, but when he opened his eyes, he was even more breathtaking, making her heart race. She tried to suppress her emotions, giving him what she thought was her sweetest smile. "Mr. Smith, I'm so glad you're awake. James and I saw the news about your accident and rushed over out of concern."
Daniel looked at Bianca, frowning. Under her hopeful gaze, he slowly spoke, "Who are you?"
Emily couldn't help but laugh. She had considered Daniel's reaction. Given that Bianca was James's beloved and Daniel's own nature, he should have treated her kindly. But she never expected his first words to be this.
Bianca's smile froze on her face, and Emily's laughter made her tremble with shame.
"What are you laughing at? Gloating?"
James glared at Emily. Then he quickly explained, "Daniel, this is Bianca from the Johnson family. She's very kind-hearted. She's the one who told me about your accident."
James was somewhat afraid of Daniel, but seeing Bianca upset, he couldn't stand it and felt compelled to explain.
Emily's eyes dimmed. James wasn't incapable of standing up for someone. He just didn't stand up for her anymore. Bianca hadn't even suffered much, and he was already eager to protect her.
Daniel's expression remained indifferent, his voice cold. "Showing off in my place, you're really something."
Clearly, Bianca's status meant nothing to him.
James heard the coldness in Daniel's voice, his face turning pale as he hurriedly said, "Daniel, I didn't mean to..."
Daniel couldn't be bothered to listen to his nonsense and interrupted him, "If I remember correctly, you should be on your way to handle a project out of town. Are you free?"
"Daniel, I was just worried about you. I'll leave right after seeing you."
James was drenched in cold sweat, his back chilled, hastily explaining and promising.
Bianca was also startled. It seemed like Daniel was speaking up for Emily. That wouldn't do! If Emily had Daniel as a backer, wouldn't she be more powerful than herself?
Ignoring her embarrassment, she said, "Mr. Smith, you misunderstood. James was only worried that Emily had ulterior motives in approaching you. Just now, when we came in, we saw her hand reaching for you, which is why he was so upset."
"What? Are you teaching me how to do things?"
Daniel's eyes flashed coldly as he asked in a chilly voice. He didn't care about the truth. But when she mentioned Emily touching his face, Daniel's gaze flickered, and he glanced at Emily.
