Chapter 41 Seeing Such a "Good Show", She Was Too Calm
"Hey, Mr. Reyes, we've got the person you asked for downstairs. Should I bring them up now?"
Following Emily's instructions, the man didn't waste any time and dialed Isaac's number right away.
Isaac frowned, "Why'd you bring them here without giving me a heads-up first?"
The man stammered, "Sorry, Mr. Reyes, but this person has a really bad temper."
He wasn't exactly lying.
Emily seemed like someone with a fierce and proud nature.
After speaking, he sneaked a glance at Emily, relieved to see her expression unchanged.
"Fine, fine, bring them up. Take them to the conference room and wait there," Isaac replied impatiently.
After hanging up, he instructed his assistant to let the man bring Emily upstairs directly.
He felt confident doing this because he believed Emily had already been coerced into taking compromising photos, which would keep her from speaking out.
The man, reassured, informed Emily immediately.
Emily got out of the car and walked straight into Fortune Tower.
The man quickly followed, leaving his entourage in the car downstairs, giving them a chance to escape if things went south.
With Isaac's assistant having made the arrangements, they encountered no obstacles.
Upon reaching the sixteenth floor, Emily began to act unpredictably.
As the assistant led the way to the conference room, Emily made a beeline for the CEO's office.
"Hey, ma'am, the conference room is this way. Mr. Reyes is busy right now, you need to wait... Hey, slow down!" The assistant was caught off guard by Emily's speed.
Before he could finish his sentence, Emily was several feet ahead, almost at Isaac's office door.
When Emily's hand touched the doorknob, the assistant's face turned pale with fear.
Isaac was "busy" at the moment, and any interruption could spell trouble for the assistant.
"Stop!" the assistant shouted urgently.
Instantly, everyone in the executive office area froze, turning to look at the commotion.
Despite this, Emily did not halt.
The assistant, looking distressed, turned to the man, "What kind of person did you bring? Make her stop right now!"
The man could only shrug helplessly and continue following Emily.
Soon, he understood why the assistant was so frantic.
"Get out! Who gave you permission to enter?"
As the office door swung open, a woman, bare from the waist up, was sitting on a middle-aged man's lap.
The man's shirt was half unbuttoned.
The scene was immediately clear.
The woman, startled by the sudden intrusion, screamed and quickly got up from Isaac's lap, hastily picking up her clothes and dressing with her back to Emily and the others.
Isaac, furious at the interruption, didn't care who had entered and began to curse.
Emily, unfazed, calmly walked in and found a seat, "I heard Mr. Reyes wanted to see me? Are you planning to have this conversation dressed like that?"
Her tone was casual, almost mocking.
There was no trace of embarrassment in her demeanor.
Isaac had heard of Emily, but the word on the street painted her as a timid, insecure, and naive girl. Seeing her now, he realized those rumors might be way off.
Isaac glared at his assistant before slowly getting dressed. The woman, now fully clothed, was dismissed with a cold, "Get out!"
She hurried out without daring to look back.
Isaac then turned to his assistant, "Dax, leave and close the door behind you."
With everyone else gone, Isaac, now fully dressed, leaned back in his chair, studying Emily lazily.
"Well, you sure surprised me. You know why I wanted to see you, right?"
Isaac's eyes flashed with malice, thinking of the suffering Byron had endured. Initially, he thought Byron was faking it to force him into dealing with Emily. But after several days of watching Byron writhe in pain and visibly lose weight, he believed the suffering was real. He had no idea what Emily had done to Byron, but no doctor could figure it out.
"Of course! I know what you want, Mr. Reyes. But it seems you don't know what I want," Emily replied sweetly, a smile on her face.
Her demeanor made Isaac uneasy. Emily's calmness was unsettling, especially for someone who had supposedly been compromised.
Isaac's sharp gaze turned to the man, silently demanding an explanation.
"You don't need to glare at him. If Mr. Reyes wants to talk, there's no need for such theatrics. I don't appreciate it. So, the negotiations might cost you," Emily said, clearing up Isaac's confusion.
Isaac understood. The photo plan had failed, and now she had come to him directly. He cursed under his breath, furious that his men couldn't handle one girl. He had spent a lot on hiring skilled enforcers, and yet they had failed miserably.
With a stern expression, he sat up straight, picking up a pen from his desk and fiddling with it.
"What did you do to Byron? Name your price to make him better. I only have one son to take over the Reyes Group. If your demands are reasonable, I'll meet them."
Isaac's tone shifted to one of negotiation, a stark contrast to his earlier demeanor. The rapid change raised suspicions in the man beside him.
Emily chuckled, feigning innocence, "Mr. Reyes, I'm not sure what you mean. I just heard Byron wasn't well and, with my medical knowledge, thought I could help. As for conditions, it's just the medical fees."
She glanced at the pen in Isaac's hand. It wasn't an ordinary pen. It was a recording device. Isaac had discreetly activated it, hoping to catch her in a confession. But Emily, having seen such tricks before, wasn't easily fooled. If she had admitted to harming Byron, she would face accusations of assault, threats, and even blackmail.
Realizing she wouldn't fall for the trap, Isaac's anger flared. He slammed his hand on the desk, glaring at Emily, "You think you're clever, don't you? My men may not have gotten those photos, but you walked right into my territory. This is the Reyes Group. If you don't help Byron, you're not leaving here today!"
