Chapter 289 News Conference
Chapter 290 Dawn Project
The moment Diana appeared, all the reporters turned their cameras toward her.
Flashbulbs kept going off, lighting up the huge conference hall like it was broad daylight.
Diana wore a well-tailored haute couture black suit. She had her hair up, showing off her delicate features, which gave her a cool and composed air.
"Thank you all so much for coming to the Windsor Corporation today for this press conference. First, I need to clear up the false rumors about me from the past few days."
As soon as Diana finished speaking, reporters immediately started asking questions.
"False rumors? Ms. Windsor, you never denied them before. Have you found evidence now?"
"You didn't even spare your own grandmother. How many patients died in your experiments?"
Questions flooded in like a tide. Luke, standing nearby, was getting restless.
But seeing Nicholas remain expressionless the whole time, Luke managed to steady himself.
Diana smiled at the reporters. "Everyone, the Spencer family hospital has never conducted any human experiments, including on my grandmother. She fell into a coma due to illness, and many media outlets reported on this before."
Thalia had collapsed at a party.
At the time, many media outlets rushed to cover it, and numerous well-known doctors had been invited by Diana's parents, Ollie and Rowan, to treat Thalia. But Thalia's condition was truly bad, and she never woke up.
If Nicholas hadn't found imported medication to keep her alive, Thalia would probably have died long ago.
Hearing this, some reporters nodded, accepting Diana's explanation, while others weren't buying it.
"Ms. Windsor says it's not true, so it's not true? What kind of illness keeps someone in a coma indefinitely?"
"And you had Thalia's family members arrested. What was your motive?"
"Is the Windsor Corporation planning to get into the medical industry too? Ms. Windsor, are you planning to profit off the York Family's reputation?"
"Is the content of the agreement Lavern notarized real or not? Why can't it be made public?"
Seeing Nicholas remain silent, the reporters grew bolder.
Diana looked at the reporter who kept pressing her—clearly a foreigner.
Thinking about how the person who bailed out Brice was also a foreigner, Diana smiled at him. "Sorry, I don't recall inviting any foreign media."
Clio, watching the live broadcast, immediately understood what she meant and quickly started investigating this foreigner's identity.
Just as he was about to explain, Diana had already looked away. "Everyone, the reason this is a press conference is because we're here on behalf of the Windsor Corporation to announce the official launch of the 'Dawn Project.'"
All the reporters looked at her with confusion, not understanding what the "Dawn Project" meant.
Just then, the conference room doors opened, and Gemma pushed in an elderly woman with white hair in a wheelchair.
"Thalia? It's actually Thalia? Wasn't her nervous system damaged and wasn't she about to be brain dead?"
Someone among the reporters muttered this, and immediately everyone's cameras focused on Thalia in the wheelchair.
She had been in a coma for so long that she was now skin and bones, with little color in her face.
Long-term bed rest had caused some muscle atrophy, making her look quite unbalanced.
But her beautiful eyes were bright and alert, and her complexion had improved considerably.
Diana nodded slightly, warmth filling her eyes. "Grandma, you're here."
Thalia raised her hand, and only then did Gemma wheel her to the front of the stage and help her sit in the center position.
Everyone looked at Thalia in disbelief.
When Thalia had fallen into her coma, the Windsor Family had offered a reward of several hundred thousand dollars for a treatment plan.
Although the Windsor Family had acted discreetly, most of these well-connected reporters had heard about it.
Now seeing Thalia not only awake but able to move normally, everyone found it incredible.
Thalia adjusted the microphone and said clearly, word by word: "I need to clear my granddaughter's name. She is the heir to the York Family's acupuncture techniques, and she did not use me for any experiments."
"Moreover, according to the agreement between me and the previous head of the York Family, Lavern, after his death, my granddaughter Diana—the only one who has mastered the York Family's acupuncture techniques—inherits the York Family's island, along with all the precious medicines and books."
She was breathing heavily, her face becoming even more pale.
With the components of Dawnveil Clover, plus Diana's newly acquired witch abilities, they had managed to wake Thalia within three days.
While everyone was spreading rumors, nothing was more shocking than Thalia standing alive before everyone.
Seeing that Thalia had not only woken up but even had such sharp mental faculties, everyone in the conference room erupted.
"Were you really in a coma before? What method did Ms. Windsor use to help you recover?"
"Is Ms. Windsor the only one who has mastered the York Family's acupuncture techniques? Don't other York Family members have this ability?"
"So Ms. Windsor never clarified things because she was treating you? Can you make the treatment plan public?"
There were too many people who couldn't wake up due to various illnesses. If the York Family's acupuncture techniques really had such amazing results, it could change the entire medical field.
Everyone's gaze toward Diana had shifted from doubt and disdain to fervent enthusiasm.
Diana gave Gemma a look, and Gemma immediately took Thalia away to rest.
Diana picked up the microphone. "Everyone, I believe I don't need to clarify anything further. The rumors have been debunked."
"And the focus of today's press conference is the 'Dawn Project.'" As Diana finished speaking, Clio changed the content on the big screen to an introduction of the Dawn Project.
"The Windsor Corporation will partner with the Spencer Corporation's pharmaceutical company to jointly develop new drugs to further help patients with nervous system diseases." Diana's expression was serious, her tone even more solemn. "Globally, over one hundred million people suffer from nervous system diseases, and every year people die from such illnesses. Treatment costs for these diseases are extremely high, and many patients, unable to afford the expenses, ultimately choose suicide or are forced to give up treatment."
Her voice paused, her eyes showing some pain. "Behind these numbers are living, breathing lives. And this Dawn Project is meant to bring a ray of hope to patients in despair."
"The Windsor Corporation and the Spencer Corporation are jointly developing new drugs, aiming to provide patients with safe and effective treatment plans. The drug development has already achieved preliminary success, and my grandmother, Thalia, is the best example."
Diana turned to look at Nicholas. "The Spencer Corporation has supported my treatment plan throughout this period and provided professional technical support."
She winked at Nicholas, signaling it was his turn.
Nicholas sat without moving. Bruce beside him whispered, "Mr. Spencer, Ms. Windsor is giving you an opportunity to build a positive image."
Nicholas clenched his fist and looked deeply at Diana before walking to the front of the stage.
"Ms. Windsor is right. The Spencer Corporation has always been committed to promoting medical innovation. In this collaboration with the Windsor Corporation, we promise that once the new drug is successfully developed, we will provide free full treatment to ten thousand patients!"
