Chapter 454: Did He Come for Her?

Chapter 454: Did He Come for Her?

"Mr. Lowe, didn't you say someone wanted to meet me to talk about my other patent?"

Emily asked.

Kurt paused mid-step when she called out to him, but he didn't care about those people anymore. "There's no rush for that. Besides, let them feel some competition. I think the price isn't right. You don't need to worry about this. I'll handle the price negotiations when the time comes. You just focus on your experiments. Once there are results and a final decision, I'll let you know."

Kurt didn't want anyone wasting the time of a genius like Emily.

Emily actually wanted to say, "Actually, I'd like to..."

It really wouldn't take much time.

Kurt immediately cut her off, "No, you don't want to. I'll go."

Then, as if something was chasing him from behind, he fled the scene.

Emily shook her head with amusement. Not wanting to waste Kurt's good intentions, she threw herself wholeheartedly into her experiments.

With this focus, almost the entire day passed.

During lunch, Kurt had someone bring food over. She quickly ate a few bites and continued working.

Seeing her like this, Kurt felt both gratified and worried, afraid she would neglect her health because of the experiments.

So in the afternoon, as soon as Emily stopped what she was doing, he quickly urged her, "You need to balance work and rest. It's almost dark now, so take a break."

Emily smiled and took his advice, tidying up her things. "Even if you let me continue, I can't. These are the materials I'm missing. I'll need to trouble you to prepare them, Professor."

She handed over the list of what she needed.

Kurt carefully took it, knowing what materials were needed meant she had a clear idea in mind. He was both amazed and delighted. "Emily, I think your brain was just born for this. Why don't you forget about everything else and just focus on doing experiments?"

Emily looked at Kurt apologetically. "Sorry, Professor. I have my own ideas, so I can't follow your wishes on this."

Kurt somewhat understood Emily's temperament and knew she was someone with her own opinions who stuck to them. Though disappointed, he didn't press further.

"Oh right!" He suddenly remembered another matter. "Bobby wants us to come by. Come with me."

As Kurt spoke, he suddenly lowered his voice. "It's about this experiment. Remember to plead poverty when we get there, so Bobby will allocate more funding."

"Okay."

Pleading poverty wasn't really Emily's thing.

Actually, with her experience from her previous life, she wanted to say that this experiment shouldn't cost much money.

However, since Kurt rarely asked for anything, she agreed to cooperate.

When Emily followed Kurt to Bobby's office.

She immediately spotted the man sitting across from Bobby.

Surprise flashed in Emily's eyes.

She never expected to run into Daniel here.

Bobby immediately smiled and greeted Kurt and Emily.

"Daniel, come look. This is our school's most outstanding professor and his student. They hold multiple patents, and I hear they have a new project recently."

Bobby took the initiative to introduce both parties.

Normally, Daniel would probably just nod politely as a greeting.

This time, he actually stood up and shook hands with Kurt.

Then he shook hands with Emily.

He even said, "Emily, seeing is believing. You really are an excellent young woman."

Whether intentionally or not, as he smiled and held her hand, he even squeezed it.

Emily felt inexplicably shy.

It somehow felt like secretly dating in front of parents, afraid they'd find out - that forbidden feeling.

She secretly glared at him and tried to pull her hand back.

Little did she know, her glare looked more like playful reproach.

Kind of cute.

Daniel seemed to have anticipated her reaction and released her hand first.

Bobby and Kurt exchanged glances.

Both saw hope in each other's eyes.

Seeing how much Daniel liked Emily, when they brought up sponsorship later, they might even get more.

Bobby and Kurt proceeded to praise Emily extensively.

Especially Kurt, who knew Emily's abilities very well. His praise came effortlessly, without even needing to think about it.

Bobby provided support from the sidelines.

Without making it seem too obvious.

Sure enough, after all that talk, without much effort at all, Daniel proactively offered to increase his sponsorship and even provided a special research grant for their current project.

Kurt beamed with joy. "Emily, thank you Mr. Smith for his keen eye in recognizing gold, for believing so much in our project."

Emily knew her project was good and that the sponsor wouldn't lose money.

However, she had an answer in her heart - was Daniel willing to suddenly add this sponsorship because of her?

Emily smiled sincerely. "Mr. Smith, thank you."

Daniel smiled, his eyes showing undisguised appreciation. "Since I'm willing to sponsor this money, it's naturally because you're excellent and worthy of it, so no need to be polite."

The two looked at each other.

The atmosphere inexplicably became somewhat ambiguous.

Bobby and Kurt didn't immediately think in that direction, but they felt something odd.

But they couldn't figure out what it was.

Bobby naturally picked up the conversation. "Daniel, it's getting late. How about I invite you to dinner tonight?"

Emily thought this had nothing to do with her, so she proactively suggested, "Then Bobby, I'll head back first."

A student shouldn't participate in this kind of dinner gathering.

Students should study hard, so Bobby naturally didn't think to have Emily join them.

He agreed with her and allowed her to leave first.

Seeing Emily leave, Daniel's eyes flashed, and he declined the invitation.

"I have something to do. Regarding the follow-up sponsorship, I'll have my assistant York continue talking with you."

This was Daniel giving Bobby face.

But given personal circumstances, Bobby naturally couldn't find fault with this reason.

He nodded with a smile. "Since you have something to do, Daniel, I naturally won't keep you. Oh, I have one more request?"

"Bobby, please go ahead." Daniel responded.

"Well, you're also a talent who graduated from our school, and now you're sponsoring such a large sum of money. I'd like to hold a speech and invite you to speak. I wonder when you might have time, and whether you'd agree?"

Since Bobby had brought it up, Daniel naturally had no objections.

However, he also suggested, "That Emily just now - I think she's excellent. She could also speak as an outstanding student that day. At the same time, we could present awards for her previous patents, which would also motivate other students. What do you think?"

Though Bobby didn't know why Daniel valued Emily so much after just one meeting.

He had heard that several companies were interested in the two patents Emily held.

But this was also a very reasonable and useful suggestion.

"Daniel, you young people have such sharp minds. That's an excellent suggestion. I think it's feasible."

Only then did Daniel smile and nod, saying goodbye to Bobby.

But just after leaving the school gate, he sent Emily a message.
