Chapter 453: Daniel's Self-Strategy
"Who do you think you are? Do you even know who I am? How dare you hit me!"
James was knocked to the ground. Unable to contain his pent-up rage any longer, he spat and started cursing.
"You're getting off easy with just a beating!"
Daniel stood over James, looking down at him without any courtesy.
Hearing the familiar voice, James instinctively said, "Daniel!"
"What's wrong? Not so cocky in front of me anymore, are you?"
Daniel's low, cold voice carried a natural detachment. "Didn't I warn you to stay away from Emily? You already lost her, so stop pestering her. From now on, I'll be the one by her side."
James was actually still a bit scared.
But thinking about Emily possibly being with Daniel made him irritated.
Emily could only be his.
Unless he didn't want her anymore.
He stiffened his neck and climbed up from the ground.
But because he'd been hit pretty hard, his body couldn't help swaying.
Still, he steadied himself with one hand against the car.
"Daniel, with your status, how could Emily possibly become your wife? Yes, I did wrong by Emily, but I know I was wrong now. Only she and I share similar pasts. We grew up together. She has feelings for me. She's only with you to get back at me. The person in her heart is me."
Even though he knew deep down that Emily probably resented him a lot and might not really have feelings for him.
But in front of Daniel, whom he'd always felt inferior to, he still said these self-important words.
Daniel unconsciously clenched his fists tighter.
Emily did seem to be gradually accepting him.
But he also knew about Emily and James's years of feelings for each other, and they had shared hard times together that he'd never been part of.
Deep down, Daniel wasn't confident.
But...
He lifted his eyes slightly, his gaze showing an intense possessiveness.
When it came to Emily, he was determined to have her.
"I've set my mind on Emily. She will only be mine. If you won't listen, feel free to try. Now, leave this place!"
Daniel's tone was firm, his eyes cold with warning.
He wasn't discussing with James, but forcing him.
"If you don't behave, I can easily suggest to your father that he find a more obedient successor." This was clearly a threat from Daniel.
"You!" James opened his mouth, wanting to say something more, but meeting Daniel's gaze, he finally just left with, "I won't give up on Emily. Daniel, just you wait. In the end, Emily will choose me."
After saying this, James quickly got in his car and drove away like he was escaping.
Daniel's tall, distinguished figure stood at Emily's door, his gaze deep as he watched James leave.
After a long while.
The cool breeze lifted a corner of his clothes, making him look somewhat lonely.
He looked up toward the lit window upstairs, his eyes showing a crazy determination. "Emily, you will only be mine."
Emily, who had just finished washing up, suddenly sneezed.
She rubbed her nose. Had her health gotten this weak recently?
She couldn't help sneezing.
She couldn't help checking her own pulse.
Sure enough, her body was fine!
Could the weather be changing?
Emily couldn't help walking to the balcony, instinctively looking toward the gate, and saw what seemed to be a figure standing there.
Her first thought was - could James really not be planning to leave?
At that moment, Daniel seemed to sense her gaze and looked at her.
He looked up, also looking toward where Emily stood on the balcony.
Actually, from this distance, they couldn't really make out each other's eyes.
But Daniel just felt that she was looking at him right now.
The corners of his lips curved up, and the coldness around him seemed to melt away.
But Emily turned and went inside at that moment.
She just assumed James really wasn't giving up and was waiting downstairs.
However, Emily wasn't worried.
After going back inside, she messaged Byron and Sophia.
Emily: [Starting tomorrow, you can begin warming up the AI artificial intelligence. Remember, take it step by step.]
She was arranging this to give James something to deal with.
So he wouldn't keep focusing on her.
The original release date was still two days away.
So warming up early would work too.
Mainly, she wanted to keep James busy.
Byron and Sophia had been ready for a while. Hearing Emily's instructions, they immediately responded.
Byron: [Boss, don't worry. We've been prepared for a long time. This product is one of a kind. I guarantee it will achieve the desired effect.]
Sophia: [Boss, I can't wait to see James's expression when he finds out that what he schemed so hard to get is just a defective product, and that it's actually your product.]
As a fellow woman, Sophia could empathize with Emily more.
Back when she disliked Bianca and therefore disliked the Johnson family, she had sympathized with Emily, who she didn't really care about, knowing that James was Emily's fiancé but was involved with Bianca.
Now that Emily was her recognized boss, she naturally felt even more for Emily, and finally found a chance to get revenge.
Emily understood Sophia's feelings.
Emily replied: [Yes, it's revenge, but that's just a side benefit. Don't forget, our goal is to become the world's strongest AI company. Also, this time your PR department should perform well. If you do well, I think we could also establish a PR company and let you really shine in the future.]
This was also a test run.
Emily was ambitious. She wanted to expand in multiple directions.
Sophia and Byron hadn't thought of this at all. Hearing Emily's words, they became even more motivated.
After finishing all this, Emily turned off her phone and prepared to rest.
Little did she know, Daniel stood downstairs, and seeing Emily "ignore" him and leave, he still felt some regret and disappointment.
However, he was someone who loved challenges, whether in matters or people.
So Daniel quickly collected his gaze.
He even thought to himself that it was good Emily wasn't easily fooled now. This way, she wouldn't be easily charmed by other men, and in the end, could only fall into his arms.
He seemed to have cheered himself up with this thought, and only then slowly walked back inside.
Emily had no idea Daniel had gotten so good at comforting himself now.
She slept well through the night.
The next day, she went to school, planning to meet with Kurt.
Kurt had already confirmed she was coming to school today, but seeing her, he was still very excited.
Probably because she was so busy, he was afraid something might come up and delay her again.
Emily gave Kurt her newly written research report.
"Sorry, Mr. Lowe, I've been too busy these days. But this is my new research direction report. Could you help me look at it and see what you think?"
This was also her research achievement from several years later in her previous life.
So although she asked Kurt for his input, since she'd written it out, it already had feasibility.
With Kurt's vision and knowledge, she knew he would definitely agree.
"Good, excellent! Let's start the project right away and do experiments. Yes, I'll go get the materials we need. If you want to experiment, the lab has been cleared out for you. Are you free today?"
Kurt was practically in a whirlwind, as if afraid to waste even a second of Emily's talent.
Emily thought about it. "I'll go check out the lab and see what materials we're still missing."
"Good, good, good. It's great that you're willing to start right away. Just look around, do what you need. If anything's missing, just say the word and I'll get it approved for you."
If not, he had money and connections, and would buy it for Emily himself.
Kurt was about to go work on the application reports and such.
Only then did Emily remember there was another important matter.
