Chapter 411: Mistakenly Thought She Was in Trouble
"So what do you think we should do?"
Zoey had to lower her head and ask.
"Fifty million dollars, plus that Blue Ocean Resort project your King family has been working on recently."
Emily raised her eyebrows with a smile, looking at her opponent as she slowly stated her conditions.
"Never mind the fifty million dollars, even if I gave you the project, you have nothing. If you want that project, what makes you think you can handle it?"
As Zoey spoke, she felt a sense of superiority again.
Emily might be more capable personally, but family background was a gap she could never cross.
Emily chuckled lightly, "Don't worry about that. I'll be taking over the Johnson Group soon, so naturally I'll be able to handle this project. So, think it over. You prepare the contract on your end, and once I sign it, I can start treating Veda right away."
Zoey didn't believe Emily had that kind of ability.
She knew that the Johnson family had already cut ties with Emily. How could the Johnson family possibly hand over the company to Emily?
"What nonsense are you talking about? Unless you can actually get the Johnson Group to announce that you're the next person in charge, this project isn't impossible to give you. Also, my engagement is in three days. You need to give me the dress by then, cure Veda's hand, and the fifty million dollars won't be any less."
Zoey was convinced Emily couldn't do it.
So she figured Emily would definitely be too scared to agree.
"Sure!"
Unexpectedly, Emily agreed without any hesitation.
"You really dare to wear a dress I designed? Fifty million dollars is now the price to fix Veda's hand pain."
Emily looked at Zoey with a smile and replied.
"Looks like you haven't thought it through yet. Come find me when you have. I don't have time to waste on you." Emily ignored Zoey, who was frowning as if thinking.
Just as she was about to leave, Zoey quickly spoke up, "Fifty million dollars, you're basically extorting me. Do you believe I could have law enforcement arrest you right now? This is extortion. Also, you blocked me, how am I supposed to contact you? I think you just don't want to treat Veda at all. You don't have the ability to cure her, do you?"
Emily looked at her with a faint smile, "Medical treatment depends on the person, it's voluntary. You don't have to ask me to treat her. But let me remind you, didn't you already have someone treat Veda? Whether her hand can only be treated by me - the fact that you came looking for me is already the answer.
As for the phone..."
Emily's smile didn't reach her eyes, even seemed somewhat cold, "Even if you can't reach me by phone, you can still find me, can't you?"
Zoey regretted letting Emily know that Tyler had treated Veda, which put her at a disadvantage instead.
No rush, no rush.
This time she was outmaneuvered, but she'd make Emily give it all back later.
"Fine, I'll trust you for now. This is a good chance to see your abilities, whether you're really sincere about treating Veda. As for the project, I can prepare the contract. Once you take over the Johnson Group, I'll hand it to you."
Zoey had no choice but to give in.
But she thought she had also left herself a backup plan.
Emily's lips curved up in a light smile, "No problem."
Seeing Emily agree, Zoey finally breathed a sigh of relief, "So when can you go to the Smith Villa to treat Veda first?"
Emily thought for a moment, "To prevent you from lying and going back on your word, I need to record a video of the conditions you just agreed to. And of course, don't forget to include your apology."
"Emily!"
Zoey gritted her teeth as she called out Emily's name, clearly feeling like she was the one being played, "Don't go too far. Do you really think I can't do anything about you?"
"The decision is yours. You can completely refuse. I don't have anything to lose anyway."
Emily acted like she didn't care.
From the moment Zoey accepted Emily's conditions, she had no dignity left to speak of.
Asking her to apologize made her unwilling.
But having come this far, not agreeing also made her unwilling.
Her eyes rolled around.
"You unblock my number, and when I go back and think it over, I'll call you right away with my answer. But if I record an apology video, you also have to promise me you won't use it for any other purpose."
Zoey tried to reply calmly.
Just by watching Zoey's rolling eyes, Emily knew Zoey had some other little scheme in mind.
Emily was waiting for Zoey to make some moves, so she could reveal more of her hand later.
"No problem."
She turned on her phone and, right in front of Zoey, removed her number from the block list.
The action was smooth and fluid.
Zoey finally secretly glared at Emily before driving away.
Little did she know, at this moment, Daniel, whose call had been hung up and who found her phone turned off when he called back, was panicking!
He first called Oliver, "Go check on Emily's whereabouts and make sure she's safe. Report back to me immediately. If she's fine, you don't need to let her know."
"Yes, I'll check right away!"
Oliver agreed.
Daniel hung up the phone and, ignoring Gilbert who was still watching him, got up to leave.
He directly instructed York, "Arrange the fastest flight back to Silverlight City. I need to return to Silverlight City."
Daniel's face was serious.
"Yes, Mr. Smith."
York had also heard Daniel's call with Oliver and guessed that something might have happened on Emily's end. He could hardly imagine that if something really happened to Emily, Silverlight City would probably face a major incident.
Daniel's thunderous fury wasn't something just anyone could bear.
York agreed and immediately turned to leave to make arrangements.
"Wait!"
Daniel seemed to think of something and called York back, "If there are no flights in the next few hours, apply for an air route. Take a private plane back to Silverlight City."
How anxious must he be!
Gilbert couldn't help but shake his head. After York left, he couldn't help but comment, "Daniel, you're being impulsive. Have you really fallen for her? It's just a phone call with no answer. Maybe she's just busy, or maybe her phone just ran out of battery? You don't need to be this nervous!"
Daniel looked at Gilbert with deep eyes, "You don't have a loved one, so you won't understand this feeling. Even if there's a one percent chance of danger, I won't allow it."
Moreover, he was certain that someone must have been with Emily at the time and forcibly hung up the call he made to Emily.
If her phone had run out of battery, Emily wouldn't have called him first, then suddenly been cut off, and then turned off her phone.
Gilbert wasn't without a loved one. Ever since that incident, he seemed to have lost the ability to love, with only a sister he still cared about.
But without her, it was fine that he had lost the ability to love.
Gilbert's silence made Daniel realize he had just said something inappropriate.
"Sorry, I shouldn't have said that. I'll have to trouble you with the follow-up matters here in Emerald City."
Daniel looked at Gilbert apologetically.
Gilbert smiled, "You're stating a fact. If you care about someone, then you should indeed protect them well."
Daniel nodded.
He prepared to walk out.
When he reached the door, he saw Marcus hurrying in.
"Mr. Smith, good thing you're still here."
Marcus spoke up.
Daniel could see his urgency and said seriously, "What is it?"
Only then did Marcus speak, "It's Mr. Stevens. He wants to see you!"
