Chapter 410: Still Unable to Recognize Reality
"Are you scared? Have you finally realized that no matter how hard you try, it's all just pointless in the end!"
This time, Bianca saw a change in Emily's expression. Delighted, she mocked arrogantly.
"What do I have to be scared of? Instead of worrying about me, you should worry about yourself."
Emily smiled slightly, her face full of sympathy as she replied.
This only provoked Bianca even more.
"What are you trying to say?" Bianca already had a bad feeling.
Emily shrugged. "Have you forgotten what crime you committed? You're very likely facing several years in prison. Instead of worrying about me, you should think about whether you can even get out of here. Of course, you know so much, maybe you could find someone to help you, but..."
"But what?"
Bianca grabbed the iron bars urgently, staring straight at Emily.
Emily leaned in a bit closer. "But I think you're so stupid that even if you ask for help, they've probably already abandoned you."
"Impossible! How could I be abandoned? No, I'm not abandoned. I'm innocent. I'll definitely get out soon. Just you wait!"
She wanted to say wait for her revenge, but considering she was at the police station, she didn't say it out loud.
But from her vicious look, Emily knew what she really meant.
"Then I'll wait and see whether you're really not a pawn, or if I guessed right."
This time Emily left decisively, never looking back.
Leaving Bianca shrieking sharply behind her.
Emily had deliberately provoked Bianca.
Since Bianca said those things, it meant someone was behind her. Emily wanted to see who exactly was targeting and scheming against her.
She had also thought back on people she'd offended.
Anyone who could make Bianca willingly obey must have quite a background.
It definitely couldn't be James.
He couldn't possibly make both her and Daniel into pawns.
This enemy hiding in the shadows gave Emily a sense of crisis.
She thought such an important matter should be mentioned to Daniel, at least to put him on alert.
As Emily walked out of the police station, she took out her phone to call Daniel.
Just as she reached the entrance, she saw Zoey leaning against a car by the roadside.
A flash of surprise crossed Emily's eyes.
What was Zoey doing here?
A thought flashed through her mind - that Zoey had come to find her.
But she immediately dismissed it.
Given Zoey's personality, she probably wouldn't come wait for her this quickly.
Emily looked away and dialed Daniel's number.
Seeing Emily come out, Zoey had originally planned to approach her, but then thought better of it. Wasn't Emily just waiting for her to come begging?
She didn't believe that even after seeing her waiting here, Emily wouldn't be excited.
She decided to wait right there for Emily to approach her first.
Unexpectedly, Emily only glanced at her once, then looked away and completely ignored her, walking off to the side.
Zoey couldn't care about her pride anymore. She rushed forward in a few steps and snatched the phone Emily had just connected.
"Hello..."
Daniel was delighted to see Emily calling him and quickly answered. But just as he picked up, the call was disconnected.
Because when Zoey grabbed Emily's phone, her eyes caught the name on the screen.
It was Daniel.
She cursed inwardly - Emily was truly shameless, always thinking about seducing Daniel.
So she hung up on Daniel directly.
Emily frowned.
She said coldly, "What are you doing? Give me the phone!"
Her natural authority created an invisible sense of pressure.
For a moment, Zoey even felt like she was facing an angry Daniel.
"Emily, don't you know it's shameful for a woman to be a homewrecker? Knowing that Daniel and I are getting engaged, you still seduce him. How shameless."
Zoey accused her rudely.
Emily laughed coldly. "First of all, your engagement news has never been officially announced. Second, Daniel and I are still boyfriend and girlfriend, and he never mentioned breaking up. Now suddenly there's news of your engagement - if anyone's the third party, it's you."
For a moment, Zoey's face flashed with the embarrassment of being exposed.
But the next instant she recovered.
Just as she was about to retort, Emily's phone rang again.
Zoey looked down.
It was Daniel again.
Without guessing, she could imagine that after Emily's call connected earlier without anyone speaking, Daniel must be worried.
Jealousy flashed through Zoey's heart.
Seeing her phone ringing again, Emily frowned and looked coldly at Zoey. "Give me my phone!"
Zoey was already jealous of Emily, and hearing her voice now only triggered her rebellious streak, making her forget her real purpose.
Right in front of Emily, she hung up the call and turned off the phone.
After finishing these actions, she finally spoke. "If you want your phone back, fine. You have to promise to come with me right now to the Smith Villa and treat Veda's hand!"
She was the one asking for a favor, yet she still dared to speak in such a tone.
Emily almost laughed in anger.
"Zoey, you clearly haven't figured out the situation. You're the one asking me for help, not the other way around. The phone - don't make me say it again. The consequences aren't something you can handle."
As Emily said this, her whole aura changed.
It gave people a natural sense that they had to submit.
She extended her hand, palm open, her eyes indicating for Zoey to put the phone back in her hand.
Zoey really wanted to refuse.
But meeting Emily's gaze, her mind cleared considerably, and she didn't continue to be blinded by jealousy.
Anyway, the call was hung up and the phone was turned off.
Even if Daniel noticed it was off, he probably wouldn't call again.
Watching Emily fiddle with her phone, Zoey cleared her throat, reminding her she was still there. "Now that I've returned your phone, you said last time - fifty million dollars, plus me coming in person - you should be able to treat Veda's hand now, right? And design my dress."
The dress - even if Emily designed it, she wouldn't want to wear it. Last time was just deliberately making things difficult for Emily.
Now with only three days until her engagement, there was no way Emily could finish the dress in time anyway.
Emily chuckled. "Last time I said that was the price for the dress, but I never said I'd treat Veda. Did you get it wrong?"
"You're raising the price? Don't you know Veda is Daniel's sister? Daniel doesn't know about this yet, but we're getting engaged soon. He's probably almost done with business in Emerald City and will be back soon to find out. If you don't treat her, Daniel will definitely be furious. Do you know the consequences of angering Daniel and the Smith family?"
Zoey actually tried to use Daniel to pressure her.
Emily was amused. "Zoey, if this is your attitude, then there's no point in me wasting words with you. I'm leaving. Do as you please!"
With that, she lifted her leg to leave.
Zoey didn't expect Emily to remain so fearless even seeing fifty million dollars and hearing her threats.
But Daniel was coming back, and this was actually a double-edged sword. Seeing how quickly Daniel called Emily back, he probably still couldn't forget her.
Fine, once she was truly engaged to Daniel and it was announced to the world, with no room for turning back, she'd settle accounts with Emily properly then.
"Wait!"
Zoey still called out to Emily.
