Chapter 157 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY SEVEN

Chapter 157 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY SEVEN
EMILY’S POV

“Bloody hell!!” I gasp as I climb the drop ladder.

Someone wraps me in a thick blanket that does little to soak the water dripping from me.

My teeth were chattering, my hands deathly cold.

Today, Davies had decided he wanted to test if I could transform inside the deep ocean.

The fucker didn’t even give me enough time, or warning before shoving me from the ship.

I hate to say it, but the chilling scream I let out, still burnt a hole of shame and anger deep within me.

I couldn’t blame him though, I had agreed to this ridiculous testing.

A small price to pay if I wanted to come outside from my suffocating room.

I growl slowly, staring at the metal cuffs around my ankle, a subtle reminder that Davies was still in charge, no matter how friendly or jovial he seems.

I dragged the blanket tighter around me, breathing out slowly as the dark feeling I had felt inside the ocean threatened to surface.

I didn’t change into my wolf.

Chiara probably wasn’t too keen with the ideal. But the other captured wolves actually did.

This whole testing was getting ridiculous. Davies has been making me and the other wolves do random stupid stuff.

I was getting sick of it.

I stood at the railing, staring at the ocean, ignoring the clatters of hunters behind me.

The overwhelming scent of the ocean blocking out everything else.

“Beautiful sight isn’t it?” Davies mutters from behind me.

I groaned in reply, not in the mood to entertain him any longer.

My eyes were focused on the calm ocean, my hair flat against my head.

I shiver slightly, gritting my teeth as the ship sways.

It indeed was a beautiful sight. And as much as it brought me dread standing here, I also couldn’t ignore the peaceful silence of nature.

I moved a bit, growling as the metal cuffs tightened around my ankle.

“Come on, testing is over. You need to get out of these clothes, before you’re overcome with a cold.” Davies mutters.

I nod my head, following him as we trudged back into the main halls of the ship, sighing out in relief at the warmth seeping into my skin.

Thankfully, Davies had enough sense to leave me alone, mumbling something about going over the data he had collected, before locking me inside my room.

The smell of salt and sulfur was heavy, and overwhelming.

I drop the blanket, marching into my small bathroom.

I peeled off my damp clothes clinging to my skin, before scrubbing my body.

I kept scrubbing even when my skin was bright red, trying to quench the anger brewing deep inside me, resisting the urge to just scream out my frustration.

The anxiety was back, the hopelessness I had felt as I briefly contemplated allowing myself to sink down into the bottom of that dark abyss and to have never resurfaced.

That darkness was all-consuming now that I was alone.

Balling up my fist, I punch the wall repeatedly, ignoring the biting pain flowing through my hand.

“Fucking hell,” I growled out, breathing out harshly as I rested against the wall, staring at my bloodied hand.

Running my hands through my hair, I wash away the blood, before strolling butt naked into my room.

Quickly, I put on a plain shirt, with joggers, before sitting on my bed.

Everything was quiet, too quiet. I don’t for a second believe Zed went through all these troubles to capture me, only to let his son Davies parade me around the ship, conducting his experiments or whatever he calls the ridiculous things he has been making me do lately.

It honestly felt like something else was going on, something I still can’t decode, and that frustrated me.

I lift my joggers, running my hands against the silver cuffs on my ankle.

It had been painful the first three days Davies cuffed me, but now, my body has somehow adapted to the silver, and if I didn’t move too much, I could almost ignore the fact that the cuffs were around my ankle.

I stretch my hands inside my pillowcase, bringing out the small piece of paper I had hidden there.

Inside contained simple markings.

To someone else it might look like nothing, but to me, it signifies how many days I have been onboard Zed’s ship.

I stared at the paper, tracing my fingers on the lines boldly stating that I had wasted a week, with no concrete plans yet.

I sighed, hiding the paper back.

“You’ve done it before, you can do it again.” I mutter, trying to convince myself.

Resting my face in my hands, I placed my elbows on my knee. This time, there were no friends, no mate, no uncle to depend on. And even the few captured wolves like me, I doubt they were still the same version of themselves.

No. This time I was completely alone. On a ship with hunters, across oceans, to a land thought to be a myth.

I chuckle, blinking rapidly to stop the tears threatening to spill out.

I have been through a lot, and I have prevailed.

This will not be different.

I will see my mate, my children again.

Exhaustion creeps into my aching joints. Honestly, I couldn’t remember the last time I slept properly. With the rocking of the ship, the constant dread swamming my stomach, Davies, and the foreboding quietness of Zed.

It felt like years since I’d shut my eyes. Rubbing the back of my neck with my palms, I slid my hand up towards my hair, massaging it gently to rid the nagging headache taking up permanent residence in my skull.

“Chaira….., can you hear me?” I called out, searching my consciousness for my wolf.

Ever since my capture, my mind has been blanked, Chaira, nowhere to be found.

I sighed, laying on the bed, my mind drifting towards Roman.

The last time I saw him, he had thrown himself into the ocean, fighting to get to me.

Unable to control it anymore, I let the tears fall.

I jerked up sharply, wiping my tears as my doorknob jiggles, before opening up.

Of course, i should have fucking knew it wasn’t going to be this fucking easy.

I stood up sharply, bracing myself.

“Hello……., Emily.” The man in front of me drawled out, a sickening smile on his face.

“Zed….,” I sneered out, growling loudly.
