Chapter 19

"What are you doing?"

"Remember our first kiss," Rue smiled withdrawing.

"Unfortunately, yes," Keir frowned.

He had been drunk that day, he couldn't remember much, and he didn't even know how he found himself amid his friends playing truth and dare, and he was dared to kiss anyone.

He had wanted to kiss Angela, she was a very popular girl back then in school and she was so pretty, they had eventually slept together after that day but during that period he was so drunk, he couldn't stand up to go and kiss her.

He was skeptical because he didn't want to make a fool of himself by staggering to her so he had turned to kiss Rue instead, he didn't remember much or how her lips tasted.

He was grateful that he had not kissed Angela because it would be embarrassing for him to later tell her that he couldn't remember the kiss.

He was even surprised Rue still remembered that.

"What do you mean by, unfortunately? it was both of our first kiss remember?"

Rue remembered how she had been taken aback by the kiss, it was the first time someone had kissed her and she was happy with was Keir, they had been playing truth or dare with some friends from school and if you failed to say the truth or compile with the dare you were asked to drink.

When it was Keir's turn he was asked to kiss any girl of his choice and he had chosen her, he had turned to her and kissed her right on the lips, it was an innocent kiss but it meant a lot to her.

She still remembered the taste of his lips and his soft voice telling her that it was his first and he hoped he wasn't bad.

She couldn't tell if he was drunk because his lips tasted like red wine but she loved it anyways.

"Not really," Keir confessed. "I was drunk and couldn't remember much that day."

"Well we could always kiss again for you to remember," Rue teased as Keir chuckled.

"You haven't changed much," Keir said.

Rue was always this way back then and she still was, it was like she was a little child that never wanted to grow up, always so clingy but he loved her for who she was.

Ring!

Ring!!

Ring!!!

Keir's phone rings as he removed it from his pocket to check the caller ID, he guessed it was working since he was currently home but turns out to be Octavia.

Rue checked the caller's ID and noticed it was saved as watermelon, who was watermelon?

"Are you home?" Octavia asked.

She had been trying his number all day, she wondered where he currently was and he wasn't picking up his calls, he wasn't one to not pick up her calls even though he was in a meeting he would always pick up her calls.

"Yes I am home," Keir replied.

"I was wondering if we could go out tomorrow," Octavia said.

"Sure but I will have to check my schedule to be sure that I will be free by then," Keir said.

"Alright," Octavia said disconnecting the call.

"Watermelon," Rue said once Keir removed the phone from his ear, she wondered who that could be.

"It's Octavia," he had saved her name with Watermelon because it reminded him of a moment they had shared. His name on her phone was bubble gum, he was surprised to see it the day he had called her while he was waiting for her in her office and her phone happened to be on her table.

He didn't ask her about it but he always wondered why she had named him that, he couldn't remember anything related to bubble gum, he guessed it was just a silly nickname since she knew her name was watermelon on his phone.

"It's an inside joke," Keir explained. "It reminds me of it whenever she calls."

"Oh, I thought it was your girlfriend," Rue said even though she hoped he didn't have any girlfriend, she didn't want to have to share him with anyone, she was here for him, she had kept herself single for him.

"I haven't been in a relationship in a long while, I don't think I am ready to be in one right now, the whole commitment thing is just not for me," Keir replied, he had experienced enough heartbreak to know better if he was ever going to be in a relationship it had to be when he was ready and when he was sure that it was going to lead to marriage.

It had to be with someone he loved and someone who loved him back just as much, he envied his parent's marriage, though his father was late but when he was alive, he envied them.

He always wished his marriage would be like that when the time came, the rate of divorce was currently high and it was obvious some women didn't exactly know what they wanted in a man or maybe they were just self-centered.

He had experienced all the kinds of heartbreaks one could think of, he couldn't quite understand why they always ended up cheating on him or running off after he had offered them money, he didn't get it.

He was the full package, rich, handsome, and a good man but it seems all the women he had met and dated didn't want any of this or they wanted one over the other, which was his money and not him.

"So, you and Octavia don't have anything going on?" Rue asked hoping to hear good news, even if they had anything going on, she was going to get rid of her as soon as possible.

"No, but we are best of friends, I mean we practically do a lot of things together," Keir lied.

He couldn't just tell Rue that he was not only sleeping with other women but also with his best friend, it was too soon to be giving her that kind of information, plus he had an agreement to not tell anyone about it and he planned to keep it that way.
