Chapter 18

She didn't notice that her thoughts were making her look blankly in the air as she squeezed onto her pen.

"Are you okay?" June asked worried as to how Octavia had taken her little joke, well it wasn't exactly a joke, it was a common thing back then but maybe Octavia hadn't noticed. Even she had not been there but she had listened to those who gossiped about her in the office and they always made mention of one

Madam Rue. "So, what are you going to do with all those clothes?" she asked trying to change the topic.

"Give them to you of course, you can wear them or resell them I don't care, Keir said he would look into the issue, and discuss it with his security team."

"That's good," June breathed out relieved to hear that the issue would be resolved, she didn't bother to argue about the clothes because she knew Octavia would not listen to her if she refused to collect the clothes, it wasn't a new thing for Octavia to gift her clothes, shoes, and bags or even give her money for free.

Although they were bosses and employees, they had grown to become friends who respected each other's differences.

She was blessed and lucky to have become the personal assistant of Octavia, she was the kind of boss a lot of people would pray for, it was why she always made sure she gave her, her all when it came to their work and their friendship.

June took her seat opposite Octavia as she crossed to check the files carefully, she could see that Octavia had a worried look on and so far the only thing they had talked about was Rue, was her return disturbing her that much? If it was disturbing her, did it mean that she and Keir truly had something going on?

"Can I ask you something? and you will be honest with me?"

"That's a trick question," Octavia said not looking at her but checking the files, this wasn't the first time she had been asked something like that and in the end, she was forced to lie to June because the questions were outrageous but she always tried to make them look like it was nothing but the truth.

"Are you and Keir like dating? or maybe like you know..." June trailed off wanting Octavia to fill the blank spot but as usual, she gave her a confused look like she was trying to understand what June was on about, but June knew she was lying this time.

"What are you trying to say? I already told you countless times that nothing is going on between me and Keir, I feel like you just like the idea of me and Keir and you are trying to impose it on me," Octavia said.

She didn't enjoy lying to June about what was going on between her and Keir but she had an agreement with Keir not to discuss what they were doing to anyone, not even their closest friends.

She also knew for a fact that if she confided in June, it might backfire later on if June were to turn on her, she couldn't trust anyone with something as delicate as that.

"Because now that Rue is back, she and Keir might get back together as a couple," June said as Octavia stopped what she was writing.

"They were never together, you weren't even there so why are you saying that? Are you trying to get on my nerves this morning June?" Octavia barked.

"I am sorry, I didn't mean to upset you," June said rising to her feet and getting back to her work of arranging the files on the shelf, it was obvious Octavia was lying because why would she suddenly flare up over something like that, and what she said wasn't a lie, she was just worried about Octavia.

Octavia continued writing but the thought of what June had just said was in her mind, could they start dating, Keir had never shown any sign of wanting to date anybody and even if he was to consider dating someone wasn't she supposed to be the first woman he would think of, she was like the closest person to him after his mum.

She literally knew every single thing about him and he also knew her like a book, they practically have been on dates and done a lot of things that couples do, his mother even knew her and liked her.

Why was she suddenly even thinking about being in a relationship, she had said she wasn't going to be in one for a long time, she brushed the thoughts off her head immediately as she continued her work, but her mind was not settled.

She decided to call Keir, at least hearing his voice was pleasing.

She took her phone on the table and quickly dialed his number but it was not going through.

She wondered what he was currently doing.

~ HYDRA'S MANSION ~

~ GARDEN ~

Rue leaned on Keir's shoulder holding onto his hands as they sat in the garden, she was happy when she saw Keir this morning, she didn't waste time in telling him that she wanted to spend time with him and catch up on what she had missed out so far.

"I still can't believe that your parents died and you never made mention of it," Keir said.

"I was young then, so I just had to follow the rules," Rue muttered.

Her parents had died when she traveled out of the country but her uncle was scared that her relatives might try to change the will or harm her in other to get her father's wealth, he had kept the car accident a secret between them and had her travel out of the country immediately, it was after the official will had been brought out that he informed everyone that they had died.

By then it was already too late for anyone to do anything about it and the news of her parent's death didn't spread since she was in another country, everything was low-key, and she was also under her uncle's guardianship so she had to stay back till she was of age.

She also found it difficult to manage the company her father had left to her, so her uncle was currently the one managing it while she pursued her modeling career.

She was happy when it came to the media, if she wasn't modeling then it was acting, she enjoyed both but being rich didn't exactly give you an easy pass in the acting and modeling world.

"But I missed you," Rue confessed lifting her head to stare at Keir, she leaned in as if to kiss him but Keir leaned away with a confused look.
