Chapter 36 Uncovered mystery
Uriel's POV
"Kiss me."
"I... I can't"
"Why? Because you're scared of someone seeing us?" He frowned.
"Because I'm scared that if I do, I'll fall in love with you and you'll not take me seriously! That's why."
My eyes watered a bit, my heart aching.
For some reason, that line sparked something sad in me.
Like I could relate to it.
Nobody wants to give themselves to someone who wouldn't take them seriously.
Every girl wants to experience sweet love, like that of their parents who had stayed married for 30 years.
The type where he would still look at you like you're the most beautiful art piece, the last of its kind.
I wanted that kind of love.
"I could never act like that." I told the girl, shaking my head as I moved to the next girl who wore a customized shirt that read: "register for choreography here."
"You sure you can dance?" The girl eyed me skeptically.
The hairs on my neck stood, making me raise my head up. I had a feeling like I was being watched, but yet found no one watching me.
"Oh give it to her, Dora. My sister is really talented. If she wants to dance, let her dance. It'll be an experience." Emma butted in from nowhere, wrapping her hand around my shoulder.
I pushed her hand off me, "I don't need your help."
"Sure you don't but I'll always be rooting for you, sis." She smiled sweetly, selling off that 'sweet sister' vibe.
"You're in." The girl, Dora said. "Practice commences next week. You must take this seriously as you'd be graded for it." She handed a paper to me.
"Thanks." I said coldly, snatching the paper.
I was just a bit pissed that Emma stepped in. Now she was going to make a big deal out of it, claiming that if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have gotten in.
And I couldn't do drama.
What if I was asked to kiss a random stranger?
That wasn't how I wanted my first kiss to go.
"Kennedy."
I jumped up slightly, holding my chest. Slowly I turned, glaring at Ryder who leaned against the wall, a cocky smirk on his face.
"You startled me." I frowned slightly, sighing afterwards.
"So many things I do to you, Kennedy. So many things." He said lowly, taking a step closer.
Impulsively, I took a quick step backward, shaking my head. "Don't come close."
Whenever he did, something bad happened.
My stomach knotted, causing slight unease. My 'down' ached. My heart, racing as fast as a fox.
Those didn't sound like good signs to me.
"Still shy about last time?" He mocked.
Last time.
Something I couldn't bring myself to talk about.
It was... Humiliating.
He...
"Don't you have better things to do with your life other than trying to squeeze yourself in mine?" I shot at him.
He squinted his eyes at what I was holding. "Choreography?" He scoffed, shaking his head. "Break a leg, Kennedy." Sarcasm dripped from his tone.
This guy!
I pointed at him, my nose flaring, but then I decided against replying him, bringing my hand down.
He winked, "see you in practice. Don't be late, Ass."
Ass?
Seriously?
It's Assistant or Uriel.
He's trying to get a reaction, Uriel. Ignore.
"Uriel Kennedy?" A masculine voice called from behind. I turned slowly, feeling a pair of eyes burn into the side of my head.
Move, Ryder. Moveee.
"It's me." I smiled at the boy, titling my head as I tried to remember where I had seen the face.
"I... I am Cain."
Should've taken his name for it but we listen and we don't judge.
"I'm your partner for Choreography." He smiled, making him more cute.
"Cool."
"We could contact each other better via telegram?" He stretched his phone to me.
"Yea..." I turned, raising my eyebrow at Ryder, only to see that his focus wasn't one me but on Emma as she smiled with few jock guys.
I frowned slightly, turning to face Cain.
"Sorry. Yeah." I quickly punctured my number and left without saying another word.
A slender figure stood in front of me, blocking my path. With a cold stare, I frowned at up at her.
"What do you want now, Rachel?"
"You think detention would stop me from dealing with you? You could report all you want but soon, it'll be useless." She said through gritted teeth.
Report?
I didn't report.
Why would I do that when I could simply pay her back?
I turned to Ryder but he was no longer there. Then I noticed that Emma had gone too.
They probably went to... Yeah.
Ew.
"How about you try to be better or try to be me, so you can attract the boys you want?" I smirked. "Just a little advice from a classmate."
"And you think you're better than me?" She almost yelled.
"I am?" I smiled, smothering her hair. "I may not be better but I'm not to be messed with."
I took a drink from a passerby, dropping the content on Rebecca's head, smiling sweetly.
"Ahhhhh!!!" She screamed
"Now that's it." I positioned the cup on her head, smiling. "There's your crown too."
I shoved past her, pushing her to the ground. Then I halted, looking down, "payback's a bitch, isn't it?"
"You!!!"
People took pictures of Rebecca, laughing and pointing.
It didn't make me feel good but she would've done same to me and wouldn't feel remorse so yeah.
"Ryder Connell?" I called confidently, looking around for him as I walked into the arena.
"Present, Ass."
"Stop calling me that." I frowned at him, picking up the gear bag. I stopped miles away from him.
"What do you suggest I call you then? Baby?" His tone was mocking.
"Ew." I said almost immediately, ignoring the way my heart skipped when the word rolled off his tongue.
Fuck.
"Let's get your heart beat checked."
I had turned a medical professional overnight, checking his heart beat, observing his body language and administering his daily energy-giving glucose to him.
"Breath in. Out." I told him, placing my hand on his bare chest.
This was usually difficult for me.
Being too close to him, touching him.
My finger always itched to...
"You know I don't feel too good." He placed his hand in mine, pushing it to his abs and holding it there. "Down there."
My eyes widened.
"Wh... what?"
"Are you not supposed to ensure I'm good to swim?" He smirked cockily. "My cock feels too cold to swim. Maybe you could ..."
I pulled my hand out of his grip immediately, cold gripping me.
I swallowed hard, my eyes fluttering.
He chuckled, pointing at my face.
"I'm kidding."
"You're such a ... a ..."
I couldn't find the right word to describe him.
He pulled me closer by my waist, locking me against his body. I looked up at him, my eyebrow raised.
He leaned down. I turned my face to the side, unable to look into his eyes. Afraid he'd misinterpret the silent words my eyes spoke.
"I bet you've never stroked a cock before, Kinky?" His tone held this cockiness. "No?"
I broke out of his grip, my body all hot and sweaty.
"Y..you should start warming up. Coach will be here soon." I told him, walking back to the bleacher.
God, my legs were wobbly.
I had forgotten how to even walk.
So embarrassing
Hopefully, he doesn't notice.
I rubbed my hand on my thigh nervously, trying to ease up my nerves.
The buzzing sound of a phone, snapped my attention to the bleacher where my phone and Ryder's phone laid down.
I picked his phone up. "Ryder! You have an important text, I guess."
I don't know why I did it but I snooped.
My eyes instantly glued to the screen, moving until I read everything.
Colors drained out of his face when he snatched the phone from my hand, looking at the same text I had read.
His eyes turned darker, feral even.
"Why the fuck did you snoop into my shit." He snapped.
"You... "
Oh my goodness.
It made sense.
He held my face, his fingers stabbing my cheeks. "If this slips out, Kennedy. I'll abduct you and feed your dead body to the birds."
I gasped.
"I fucking swear."
