Chapter 10 Defensive

Chapter 10 Defensive
Uriel's POV

The rumors had died down.

Mainly because new gossip came up. It wasn't about me this time.

Or maybe it was but they didn't know.

People had been trying to figure out the reason behind Ryder and Finch's fight.

Kathie said it was because of me. She said Finch was talking about me and Ryder went all defensive.

I didn't believe it. Just a little part of me though.

The bigger part wanted to.

"You've been slacking, Uriel." A voice said from behind me, making me jump in fear, falling some books to the ground.

I turned to see Ryder smirking at me, leaving not so much space between us.

Gosh.

I couldn't stand being so close to him. Whenever I looked at his face, I remembered that day in that class.

Especially his last words to me.

If I wanted to do nasty things to him.

I had been thinking too.

Did I?

He placed his hand above my head, covering up the space to a great extent. "You've been avoiding my calls. You must've forgotten you're to tutor me."

I blinked severally, trying to build up my speech and confidence.

"Firstly, you startled me. Secondly, I would appreciate it if you stop cornering up. We don't want to give people the wrong impression."

"They can think whatever they want to." He rolled his eyes, moving back a bit, tucking his hand in the pocket of his black leather jacket.

"No, they cannot. We're not going to give them what to think about." I warned him, crouching down to pick the books I had let slip out of my hand.

"You didn't answer any of my questions and what the fuck are you doing here?" He asked, crouching down to my level, only picking one book up.

I placed my finger on his lips, eyeing him sternly. His eyes locked onto mine, his jaw ticking.

"What have I told you about not touching me?" He held my wrist away from his lips.

"This is a library. You don't talk as if you're in your classroom or bedroom." I scolded him, standing up.

"Why? My bedroom voice is sexy, Kinky. Wanna hear it?" He followed me around as I stocked the shelves.

"Mr. Connell, are you here to read or disturb my assistant." Mrs Wonnell, the Library Manager frowned at him, looking at him through her glasses.

"She..." He turned to look at me. "She's your assistant?"

"Now you know why am here. So, why are you here?" I raised my eyebrow at him.

"Biology? Tutor?" He raised his eyebrow at me. "Sorry, I'll be out in 5 minutes, Mrs. Wonnell."

She rolled her eyes, leaving us.

I remembered Biology tutorial.

Facing him was the problem.

"We could do online classes." I shrugged, stretching my hands at him to hand over the book he was holding.

He didn't.

"I don't do online classes. I understand in person." He frowned slightly.

"Then, we could uhhh... Use the library?" I suggested. "During free periods."

He smirked, taking a step forward. I pulled out a book, pushing it to the front.

"Distance." I warned, my hand trembling slightly.

Damn this boy for making me feel all jittery.

"Scared of being seen with me in a private class?" He brought my hand down, pulling my face closer by my chin. His grip was firm.

His eyes slowly dragged from my eyes to my lips. It was difficult to make a good sentence when he was this close up to me.

"I'm starting to think you're obsessed with touching me, Ryder." I managed to choke out, though my voice came out breathless. "Hmm?"

He pulled away sharply, eyeing me in what looked like disdain. "You wish."

He slammed the book on my chest - not so hard. I grunted, eyeing him in anger.

"I possess something in front of here, okay?" I shot at him.

If he was used to flat cheated guys, I wasn't.

"It's no much different from a guy's chest. I've seen better." He turned to leave. I clenched my fist, my nose flaring.

How dare he?

Unlike Emma and most girls in school, I wasn't exactly blessed with much ladylike features.

It was by chance that I escaped having a flat chest but I didn't need him pointing that out for me.

Few minutes after he left, Dennis showed up, resting on the shelves.

What was wrong with these teenage boys? Or was it adult boys, since they were all up to 18?

Or at least, close to 18.

"You read a lot. Maybe you could teach me how the female reproductive organ works?"

Dennis was always cocky. It didn't even help that most of the time, he was perverted.

"Fuck off, Dennis."

"Did I hear, fuck me?" Dennis joked, taking a step forward.

Unlike how uncomfortably and shyly hot I felt when Ryder was approaching me this way, I felt angry and a little bit terrified.

I reminded myself that we were in the library with students scattered around. Mrs Wonnell was also here.

"Get your ears cleaned." I turned away to run only to be pulled back harshly and slammed against the shelf, causing some books to fall.

Oh goodness.

He leaned down, holding my cheek hard. "You must think I've forgotten you slapped me."

My chest heaved up and down as I glared at him. I couldn't speak because of the way he held my face.

"You used to be quiet and not so attractive but you seem to be growing. Maybe I could help you take your virginity? I'll be gentle, I promise."

I shrieked in disgust, pushing him away with all my might. "Ew."

"For now but you'll be begging for my cock soon. It's you and -"

Suddenly, he was yanked back. Ryder stood chest to chest with him, his nose flaring.

"You should learn to mind your business, Connell."

"She's my tutor. She's my fucking business and you'll stay the fuck away from her if you don't to spend the rest of the Senior year in coma." Ryder sneered, clutching Dennis's shirt.

"And you'll end up in cell, pretty boy." He shoved Ryder back, frowning at him.

"I don't mind. I have nothing to lose." Ryder smirked sinisterly. "But you do. You have a lot to."

"Seeing you go defensive mode for her just spiked my interest in her." Dennis chuckled darkly. "I mean, she got pretty nice ass cheek and I'm sure her -"

"Enough." Dangerous but yeah, I stood in their middle.

Ryder already had his hand clenched.

"Come on, let's get you some biology textbooks for study." I eyed Dennis, pulling Ryder away.

I made a mental note to attend to the mess Dennis created of the shelf.

"See you around, Uriel." Dennis smirked.

"Stay the fuck away from her, Dennis. I'm warning you." Ryder yelled.

Mrs. Wonnell suddenly appeared, looking between the three of us.

"Dennis, Ryder... Principal's office now." She yelled, frowning. Then she turned to me, "You're not doing a good job, Ms. Kennedy. You could get pulled out, you know."

Shit.

Ryder placed my book in my hand, whispering, "Don't wait to tutor me. Go home after this."
