Chapter 568

Felicity and Harry shared a deep mother-son bond.

Even now, knowing Harry might have helped Alvina, Felicity didn't erupt in fury the way she once would have.

After all, she'd come to understand.

Being chosen by Dominic wasn't exactly a blessing.

Mother and son had a heart-to-heart. She sighed. "But I still hope you'll tell me everything honestly from now on. Don't let me worry for nothing."

"I understand, Mom." Harry's voice was thick with complicated emotions when he said the word Mom.

He only hoped that when the truth finally came to light, that day would come later rather than sooner.

After their moment of shared sorrow, they decided to start fresh.

They settled into their new home. Felicity told Harry to stay and organize the rooms while she said casually, "I'm going out to buy groceries. I'll be right back."

"Okay. Be safe."

Once she disappeared from Harry's sight, the smile on Felicity's face faded considerably.

She let out a heavy sigh.

She pulled out Harper's address.

She felt it was necessary to have another serious talk with Harper.

But just as Felicity closed the door and took a deep breath—

Suddenly, her head spun. Her vision went black. She collapsed to the ground, unable to control herself.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, at the courthouse, Alvina's case had reached a new verdict.

Thanks to new evidence found by Caden and Harper, it was proven that Alvina had not personally participated in many of the incidents. She should not be considered a primary instigator.

On top of that, she suffered from mental illness.

Her defense attorney argued that when she'd made certain decisions, her mental state had likely been unstable.

This could not be judged as intentional malice.

As a result, her sentence was significantly reduced.

It was almost exactly as Harper had predicted before the trial.

If all went smoothly, Alvina would soon be able to apply for medical parole and fly off abroad with Declan to live happily ever after.

After working tirelessly on the case, it had finally made progress. Harper breathed a deep sigh of relief.

She exhaled heavily. "Once we send those two away, things around us will finally be peaceful. We won't have to worry anymore about Alvina randomly losing it."

Caden smiled too. "You're the hero of this case. I have to throw you a celebration."

"A celebration?" Harper looked at Caden in surprise, about to decline.

But seeing the obvious anticipation in his eyes, Harper closed her mouth and smiled happily instead. "Then I'll graciously accept Mr. Elikin's reward."

Caden chuckled and added with concern, "But you still can't overwork yourself. Until Kenneth approves, you need to keep visiting him regularly. He needs to monitor your recovery."

"I know. I'll absolutely follow Mr. Elikin's instructions."

The two of them returned home in high spirits.

Their affection was as sweet as honey.

But before they even reached the door, when Harper saw the figure waiting outside, her expression turned puzzled. "Sirius? What are you doing here?"

The visitor was indeed Sirius.

Also known as Harry—the name Felicity and Dominic called him.

Harry stood blocking the doorway without a word. The fading twilight made it hard for Harper to see his face clearly.

All she could sense was the faint aura of gloom surrounding him.

"What's going on? Why did you suddenly come looking for us?"

Harry's tone was hostile as he demanded, "Stop pretending. Hand over my mother, or I'm not done with you two."

"What?" Harper was utterly confused. "You mean Ms. Wagner? What happened? Did she go missing?"

Just then, Caden returned from parking the car and heard Harper's question. "Did something happen to Felicity?"

But from their reactions, Harry could tell something was off. His voice was heavy as he asked, "You two really don't know anything?"

At this point, Harper was fairly certain.

It seemed something had indeed happened to Felicity.

She immediately brought Harry inside, poured him tea, and asked, "Tell us exactly what happened. I'll send people to search for Ms. Wagner right away. Also—why would you think we did this?"

"If it wasn't you, then who?" Harry shot back. "My mom was taken right outside our house. Your people drugged her and took her away. What else is there to say?"

"I swear, I never sent anyone to do that." Harper immediately asked him for evidence from outside his house.

Harry's tone was so certain—it very likely wasn't a misunderstanding.

They might have been framed!

Harry had already copied the surveillance footage. He immediately pulled out his evidence. "This person in the video used to work with you. I remember him."

Harper took one look and nodded. "Yes, that's one of Stephen's men."

Her expression grew much more serious.

She immediately called Stephen over and asked, "Didn't I already call off the surveillance on Ms. Wagner? What's going on with this guy?"

"This is…" Stephen glanced at the screen, his brow furrowing deeply. "That's Dylan? Didn't he say he resigned to go home and get married? He left half a month ago."

After hearing this, Harper exchanged a glance with Harry.

This didn't look good.

Stephen also realized the atmosphere had turned tense. He said quickly, "I know Dylan's old address. I'll send people to search right away."

Harper's reputation was at stake—Stephen moved fast.

But he returned with bad news.

"The landlord said the tenant moved out half a month ago. Everything inside was cleared out. They even hired a cleaning service to scrub the place down—probably to avoid leaving any traces."

The bird had flown the coop. Now, they could only watch helplessly as Dylan schemed from the shadows.

After hearing the news, Harper's expression turned icy. After a long pause, a cold glint flashed in her eyes. "Go to the police. Make this public. If Dominic still wants his reputation and career intact, he won't dare continue."

To her surprise, Harry immediately objected. "No. My mom's still in his hands. She's just an ordinary person. She doesn't want to get dragged into your power struggles."

"What are you saying?" Harper's brow furrowed. "You want to waste our best advantage and handle this privately?"

Harry was adamant. "Dominic has no feelings for my mom. He won't protect her. I'm all she has."

So even though he had no leverage against Harper, he still insisted.

Harper stared him down for a long time. In the end, she softened.

She chose compromise. "You don't need to worry about Dominic being backed into a corner."

"For him, nothing is more important than his reputation. At worst, I won't call the press. You can report it to the police privately. I believe Dominic will see my sincerity. At the very least, he'll release Ms. Wagner first."

Harry studied Harper carefully, weighing her sincerity in his mind.

In the end, he decided to trust Harper.
