Chapter Twenty
Chapter Twenty
— DAMIEN MARTINEZ —
“Then get rid of her...”
Her words echoed in my mind as I walked out of the hospital.
I already had... Or at least, I thought I had.
The dangerous part was that the only reason that Morgana hadn't yet turned against me was because she thought that she still had me.
Once it became obvious that I was no longer hers, or that I had moved on and no longer wanted anything to do with her, then she would result with violence.
I wasn't kidding at all when I said that she could destroy me and everything I had worked hard for.
She was that kind of pain in the ass.
I had only hoped that Clarissa would try to understand.
But seeing those hardened grey eyes of hers and her determination to tug at my limits until I was forced to pick a side, it was obvious that she wasn't hearing any of it.
And did I blame her?
No.
I had a glimpse of the kind of woman that she was.
She wasn't going to make herself an afterthought. If she was going to have me, then she was going to have all of me.
But that was the problem.
We weren't anything.
We were just strangers living in the same house for the sake of convenience.
So why did she have to act all heartbroken like I had wronged her whenever I was with Morgana?
We weren't anything to begin with.
I kept her around to keep Morgana in check. She kept me around to get back at Karl who had cheated on her.
We were even alright.
I knew she didn't see it that way though.
She might not know it yet but she was hella possessive.
“Right...” I thought remembering that there was a man named Karl still walking around his company like he had a lot of years left to live.
There was Karl, he was still in the picture and I had to get rid of him.
I walked towards my car and kicked the door open, sliding beside the driver's seat.
“What a low life personality. ” I thought wrinkling up my nose in disgust.
I had to rid the earth of his species before he it crossed his mind to go any further.
While Clarissa would be at the hospital focusing on getting better like a good girl, I would be busy too, to make sure that when she got discharged, she wouldn't have any reason to think of him again.
I drove out of the car park and into the highway, having a good mind to drive straight away to his house and confront him.
Deep breaths, I reminded myself.
Stay calm and fucking think for a second.
If I rushed to him without any prior planning, I might be able to give him a good beating and break a few bones, but the satisfaction of destroy him completely wouldn't be there
Beside, he could involve the police like the coward that be was and they could easily trace it back to me.
“We wouldn't want our perfect little image scratched would we now Damien?” I muttered, swerving to the right.
“Absolutely not,” I held up a hand and flapped it, animating my voice and mimicking a puppet show.
“Yes, that's why the mother fucker has to die silently. ”
I took out my phone and placed a phone call.
“Boss,” the agent at the other end of the call said.
“First, ” I began going straight to the point. “Fortify the security around the hospital that Clarissa was admitted in. If anything happens to her you'll be held responsible, along with your family members,” I said, with a threatening edge to my voice.
“Fortifying the perimeters around the Clarissa's hospital as instructed,” the agent replied and I could hear the click of his computer as he passed on the message.
“Good,” I breathed, calming down a little.
“Next, I want you to keep an eye on Morgana and report any suspicions movements to me. ”
There were some noise in the background and I knew that my instructons were already taking effect.
I loved how efficient he was, all it took was a command and I could already consider it done.
“Anything else?” the agent asked.
“Yeah,” I admitted, feeling my blood boil just at the thought of Karl still walking around the place like he actually believed he was free and was going to go scott free for daring to touch Clarissa when I warned him not to show up in her space ever again.
He was going to pay for it now.
I would tear him apart blow by blow, for every time he hit Clarissa against the broken glass of the car door.
I would make him lose double the amount for every pint of blood that she lost.
I would show him what it felt like to ney at the receiving end of my anger, what it felt like to cross me. And I would leave him half dead, wishing that he could disappear from the earth all together and and take the highway to hell instead.
I would make sure to show him a fate worse than death itself.
And of course, I would do it with a fucking smile on my face.
“I want everything you can gather on Karl, ” I said.
“Every fucking information about him. ”
The agent hesitated, feeling my murderous energy.
“Compiling every information on Karl,” he said.
“Good. Keep tabs on him too. I want knowledge on his most recent activities too. ” I added.
“Consider it done boss,” a voice replied.
“That would be all,” I said ending the call with a small smile.
“Put on your seat belt mother fucker,” I thought. “Because the monsters in me is on its way and even I can't restrain it. ”
It didn't matter if Clarissa insisted that she could take care of him on her own.
The fact was that he had harmed her and crossed me on purpose.
I won't be Damien Martinez if I let every mother fucker cross me and think they can get away with it.
I arrived at the mansion, my head still burning with intense anger and still feeling unfocused.
I stormed into my office, slamming the door behind me. My mind was racing with thoughts of Karl and how I was going to make him pay for what he did to Clarissa. I couldn't believe she thought she could handle it on her own. Didn't she know who he was? Didn't she just see first hand what he was capable of?
I paced back and forth in front of my desk, my anger building with each passing moment. I couldn't focus on anything else except for the image of Karl's face, and how I was going to destroy him.
I recalled the way he smirked back at the wedding. And even the time when he cornered Clarissa in her office, ready to assault her.
I was so crazy. How could I believe that she was fine and not connect the dots?
I should have known that he wouldn't stop until he had done some real fucking damage to her.
The truth was, I should have put an end to him back then, Instead of waiting till Clarissa was in the fucking hospital, trapped on one bloody bed.
Then it suddenly occured to me who would be heading the Darcel group till Clarissa recovered.
It would be handed temporarily to her next of kin, which jusy happened to be her sister.
A name flashed in my mind of its own accord.
—Lilly.
“I see, ” I muttered, heaving a breath.
Karl had thought all about it.
That was the whole plan in the first place.
The missing puzzle pieces suddenly connected and the whole picture became as clear and day.
Karl had never meant to leave Clarissa half alive.
The plan was to kill her and have his girlfriend who was also Carissa's sister take over the company.
They would automatically form a partnership between the two companies and it would be a win-win for him.
“How classic. Such a pity that dream won't live to become a reality...” I thought in sarcasm.
Suddenly, my phone rang, breaking the silence in the room. I answered it, a bit angry. "What is it?"
"Boss, we have gathered all the information you requested on Karl," I recognized the agent's voice immediately. "We have his address, his daily routine, his connections... everything."
I gave a cold calculative smile. "Good. I want you to send a team to his location. I want him taken care of, quietly and efficiently. No traces, no evidence, nothing. Just make him disappear."
The agent hesitated for a moment before responding. "Consider it done, boss."
I took off my clothes one by one and stepped into the ensuite bathroom, turning on the shower over my head. It was time to cool off and settle for a good night sleep, with hope I would dream of Karl's terrified face as he begged for mercy.
