Chapter 18
Chapter 18
AUTHOR POV —
“We have a bit of problem miss,”
Clarissa had been in the car for about a few minutes now. Her brows furrowed in a frown as she looked up at the driver.
“This was really not the time for problems. ” she though in annoyance.
She had her fill of them already for as long as a certain Morgana kept on breathing and from this point, anything minor could jolly well piss her off and make her lose it completely.
Losing her temper randomly would be a huge shame because Clarissa was already saving all the pent up frustrations for the time when she would deal with Morgana. So in that case, she needed to sash the anger in a jar and safe it for later.
“What is it?” Clarissa asked.
The driver turned another corner and glanced up at his mistress' expression through the mirror in the car.
“I- I think that we are being followed,” he informed her slowly, gauging her reaction.
Clarissa gave a short laugh. “Well that does not sound right does it?” she glanced at the side view mirror instead.
There were lots of cars around them and it was hard to see if one out of the lot were following them, assuming someone was following them in the first place that was.
She bit her lip, knowing fully well that the diver was well trained and he would not raise an alarm if he was not sure about it.
“Be sure of it,” she gave a curt reply and reached for her phone.
She felt the car make another turn and take a detour round the park.
Clarissa didn't pay much of an attention to her surroundings anymore, but Instead, she swiped open her phone and opened the text she got from Damien just a few minutes ago.
“Well he sure has some nerves,” she gritted her teeth.
Just the mere thought that he was going to act like nothing had happened between them and was just going to keep on texting her like they were cool was enough to leave her shaking with fury all over again.
Damien — look, I'm sorry for what happened earlier... Let's just meet and talk about it.
Clarissa snorted.
So now he wanted to meet and talk the fuck about it? She thought. How brazen.
Well for one thing, he really needed to stop apologizing to her through texts. Why couldn't he just meet her in person and say the damn words?
Then it occured to her that that might be exactly why he wanted them to meet but she pushed away the thought and tuned off her phone Instead, refusing to send him any reply.
Clarissa looked up and saw that they had swerved into an unfamiliar street.
She was about to say something sarcastic and tell the driver to stop being paranoid about the ghost that the following them and take her back on course when a deep red telsa car overtook the Mercedes and pulled up suddenly in front of them.
Clarissa lurched back as the driver hurriedly stepped on the breaks...
“Too slow... ” She muttered, the realisaton hitting her. It was going to be a crash.
The hit was more than she had anticipated as they crashed against the boot of the other car.
She felt herself slam against the front seat of the car from the impact.
“Fuck...” Clarissa cursed feeling a few bones crack from the pressure and her breakfast threatening resurface in the most unpleasant of ways.
Who would dare.... Clarissa thought faintly as the pain exploded all over her body.
“Wait... Come to think of it, deep red telsa,” she mused. The car seemed oddly familiar, no, dangerously familiar.
Out of the corner of her eyes, Clarissa caught some movements in her peripheral vision.
They were some faint voices and something slam against the car door and the glass shatter in all direction.
“No no no....” she thought feeling unsafe.
This couldn't be happening. Not to her, and this was the worst timing too.
Clarissa forced her eyes open as someone grabed her from the passengers seat.
Eyes collided with a pair of unhinged grey eyes, short black hair and maniac smile.
“You mother fucker!” Clarissa spat out.
“Hello again Clarissa Devor,” Karl smirked like he was enjoying every bit of the moment.
“Karl Trevor,” Clarissa replied humor. “To think that you would actually stop so low now. So tell me, what do you want now?”
“To teach you a mother fucking lesson. You are supposed to die Clarissa. You are fated to die. Allow me to do you a favor and make it sooner,” Karl said, his look menacing.
“Oh I'm shaking in my boots,” Clarissa mocked, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
She knew that she was at a disadvantage already and this wasn't a time to get on his nerves, but her mouth had other plans as she couldn't help it as the words spilled out.
“Tell me should I feel honored? That the weakling Karl Trevor couldn't bare to be called my ex and decided to result to underhand means?” She demanded with a small smile.
Some screams were heard from the front of the car and she knew that Karl had come with men, and they were probably beating him up. They were going to kill him.
She needed to do something to save herself but her eyes were trained on the man in front of her and for a moment, it seemed to be a clash of wills.
“You're so fucked up Clarissa. Too smart for your own good,” Karl barks.
Before Clarissa could think of something, his hold on her tightened and he slammed her the broken glass.
Her face collides with the car door and she could feel the place sticky with her blood.
“And this is for leaving me for that fucker Damien,” Karl yelled, slamming her harder against the door as blood shattered everywhere.
He kept at it for what seemed like forever.
Clarissa trashed against him trying to break his hold on her but his grip was firm and unmoving.
“And this was for thinking that you could ever get away with it,” he snarled dealing another blow on her.
She closed her eyes, feeling the consciousness seeping out of her.
“F-fuck you...” Clarissa muttered light headed, feeling the darkness overwhelm her.
———
Damien stared at the unanswered texts.
What did she want him to do?
He had already apologized.
After Clarissa walked in on them, he finally told Morgana what he should have told her two years ago.
“Stay the fuck away from me or I'll make sure you die trying. ”
The fear had been evident in her gaze.
She tried to reach for him one last time but he stepped back and called the security.
He got rid of her, but the damage ha already been done.
Damien tossed the phone to the side and stood up, feeling a sense of unease.
He needed to reach Clarissa before she did something stupid.
He could not deny that she was extremely bold.
From gave very first day that this stranger had held his hand and told him that he should marry her.
From that very moment, he knew that she was capable of literally anything.
And then he found out that she had a temper too.
But even then she always replied his texts.
“What changed now?” he thought.
“Well for starters, maybe it was because he told her that he had already gotten rid of Morgana and the very next moment, she saw him with her. That does a lot to someone's trust,” he thought, nearly kicking himself for being so mother fucking clumsy.
He exited their texts and placed a call.
“Where is Clarissa?” the asked, the moment the person at the other end picked up.
“I'm not stalking her,” Damien muttered under his breath, trying to convince himself. “I just want to make sure that she is fine and isn't going to do anything that would raise eyebrows. ”
“Yeah sure,” another voice in his head muttered.
He wasn't stalking her and yet he ha gone through the trouble to place a tracker on her phone and her car and even hire men to keep tabs on her.
There was some shuffling in the background.
“We just started locating her... Will get back to you soon,”
He nodded and put down the phone, waiting impatiently for the feedback.
Why was there still an unsettling gut feeling at the pit of his stomach that told him that she wasn't fucking fine?
Damien felt relieved when another call came in few minutes ago.
“We found her car crashed near the bridge and she's unconscious,” the agent informed him without a change in his voice.
Damien felt his heart race against his chest.
“And it's Clarissa we're taking about?” he asked refusing to believe it.
“Clarissa Devor,” the agent clarified.
“Fuck....” Damien cursed.
“Send me the location right now!”
“Will do boss,”
“Fuck...” Damien muttered. It better not be you Morgana. He thought in rage.
“Because I told you to stay the fuck away. ”
