Chapter Twelve
Chapter Twelve
CLARISSA DEVOR POV —
Morgana smiled at me finally letting go of my hair.
I stumbled back and frowned at her.
My brows only furrowed further.
What was she talking about? Was she insane?
“Oh dear me, you really thought that I if I was going to do my homework on you I was going to go through it only ti stop halfway?” she asked her lips curving tiba smirk.
She seemed to think that she was in charge of the tides now, that the tables had turned and she was the one calling the shots now.
Nice move, I thought grudgingly.
It might have worked a little but she couldn't actually throw faceless assumptions all over the place and expect me to believe it. Like that would be really foolish of me wouldn't it?
“Now if only you would actually make sense,” I gave a prolonged sigh and made a show of checking out my nails and tapping my foot on the ground.
The message was clear.
She was stalling time and talking crap because she really didn't have anything important to say. At this point Alissa stared between the two of us in shock, trying to get wind of what was really happening. A lots of people in the restaurant had started together now some of them were holding up their phones and no doubt, we were probably like now like some epic show.
Morgana glared at me, clenching her fist.
“Well you might have managed to deceive everybody else but the truth will come out soon I will later and I'm ready for give it to the head start it needs.” she said.
“Oops still stalling time,” I shook my head with a look of disappointment and took my bag from the seeds preparing to live. It was such a pity I was really hoping for a strong comeback and maybe a bit of drama around here for once. “A lot of us actually have places to go you see. I would have loved to indulge you further but business calls I'm afraid,”
I didn't forget to flick my hair in her face as I walked past.
Her next was however stopped me in the spot.
“I want you to spare Damien the embarrassment but is obvious that you need to be shown your place once in a while. The truth remains that your marriage is just a facade. I doubt you know the meaning of that so let me spell it out to you the whole thing is fake!” Morgana spat, her voice dripping with spite.
“What did you say” I couldn't help it as I reeled back in my eyes blazing.
“You both were hoping to full the public weren't you but you Clarissa, you're nothing but a little b you m husband snatcher!” she yelled, making an attempt go grab my hair again.
I slipped back just in time and narrowed my eyes.
It couldn't just ne a lucky guess could it?
How could she have known that it was a contract marriage? We had played out party nicely and there was no way that anyone would have found out.
Unless he told her of course...
I felt my blood run cold at the thought.
Damien broke the contract, again.
No one was supposed to know that it was a five year contract and all through the time we were together, he was supposed to be my perfect revenge tool against my sister and Karl.
And in turn, I would help him since he needed a wife for the project he was working on. But now he had broken the deal again.
“What's the problem now? ” Morgana's steel voice caught into my stream of thoughts.
“Cat got your tongue” she asked smirking now.
I give a false smile. I was trying to figure this out in my head but I couldn't show any sign of weakness. The people that where gathered around us how their eyes on the scene that was in front of them. I could imagine what they were thinking the wonderful world in their witness just a week ago but now rumors we're going to be flying about that it was a fake.
“Dear Morgana, Damien is so over you, but here you are clinging to the air unable to leave him alone. Isn't that definition of pathetic to you? Why don't you pick up the last crumbs of your shattered pride and walk away huh leave him the f alone for once instead of cooking up lies.” I said folding my hands.
Her gaze burned into me.
She's talked towards me and push me against the wall. “Stay away from him Clarissa this is your last warning stay away from him and his family or is not going to be pretty.” she threatened.
I glared back at her with a look of defiance.
“We both know the truth you and I,” she sneered.
“Sure thing. you just keep telling yourself that anything that makes you sleep at night. ” I flipped her my middle finger and brushed past her this time not giving her a chance to hold me back I passed by the table without as much as a glance at Alissa and wove my way through the people that had gathered till I found myself outside the door.
I breathed deeply and compose myself before taking elegant steps towards the sports Mercedes parked at the parking lot.
“Damien's Mansion, now,” I said to the driver.
He didn't question me and set the engine into life immediately, peeling out of the driveway.
We were on the highway within a matter of seconds.
I pulled out my phone, still shaking with the anger I felt and by Morgana's barzen threats.
I gave an urgent text to Damien.
Me— we need to talk.
There was no reply.
I knew he was online and not in any fucking business meeting, but be chose not to reply.
What a classic Damien look.
Me— immediately,
I texted again.
Still no reply.
Morgana's words still lingered in my mind like a bad omen. How did she know about the contract marriage? I thought we had played it so perfectly, fooling the public and even our closest friends. But now, it seemed like our little secret was out, and Morgana was determined to use it against me.
I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease as I sat in the car, my mind racing with thoughts of Damien and his betrayal. He had broken the contract again, and now I was left to deal with the consequences.
As the car pulled up to Damien's mansion, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. I was angry, hurt, and betrayed. I needed answers, and I needed them now.
I stormed out of the car and into the mansion, my heels clicking on the marble floor. I didn't bother to knock on the door, I just burst into Damien's office, ready to confront him.
“Oh so were here all along?” I stared at him, a bit surprised that he was actually there, in his office.
“I thought you were in your company?”
“And yet you stormed right into my office like you were expecting to see me? That doesn't make sense Lissa,” he rubbed his temples.
There was a bunch of paper work on his table and he stared between them and me, swinging slightly on his swivel chair.
Ever so often, his eyes would scan over to the laptop on his work desk.
I could tell that he was really busy, but nevertheless, I walked in and grabbed him by the collar.
“What is it between you and Morgana?”
why wouldn't she leave me the fuck alone?“ I began, getting straight to the point.
His eyes widened in surprise. “She showed up?”
“Yeah and you wanna know what makes me really angry? Why the fuck would you tell her about the contract marriage? Are you out of your mind?” I demanded.
He looked at me shocked like he had seen a ghost.
“I didn't tell her anything. I haven't spoken with her since the day I told you that I would take care of her,” he said, his eyes narrowing.
“Oh save it! I know you're lying. How else could she know huh?”
His eyes flashed with anger for a fraction of a second.
“I'm telling you the truth I didn't speak to her and why do you think I would tell her about our arrangement when clearing I'm obviously trying to avoid any complications with her?” he demanded with a frown.
I eyes him suspiciously for a moment or two and then I let go of him.
“Well it would please please you to know that your little ex-girlfriend knows about it now and there's no saying what is going to do.” I said.
“Did she threaten you?” Damien asked.
I could see his fists clench around his side.
“It doesn't matter,” I said off-handedly as I making my way out of the room.
All that I could think of was that if Damien didn't tell her then there was one other question. .
“Who did it?”
