Chapter 66

Emeralds POV

The next few days I was so determined to focus on moving that napkin that I kind of forgot about calling my dad back. I remembered to go to work and everything else but I forgot to call him back. So when I did call him back on Thursday to ask if we can have lunch for Saturday because I had plans that night. It was Amelia’s last game and I wasn’t missing it. He said yes that it was completely fine with them. I felt like I should have made it for Sunday but I figured I had to get the conversation over with like a band aid. Then I figured even I was stressed I had that whole even win got relax and hang out with my friends.

I made sure to tell Jeremy about it too that night after I had gotten home. We had ate dinner like normal then went to the workspace like a normal routine now. I sat down with a bottle of water next to me on the end table. He had sat down next to me and I said, “So I called my dad today to tell him that I decided Saturday at noon to have lunch with him to talk over some things. Basically clear the air about stuff.”

“That’s good.” He said. Then he looked at me with a weird an expression. “Wait you just called him today deciding that?”

“Yes. I had told him I needed a few days to think about it. Why are you looking at me like that?” I asked.

“I’m not looking at you like that for any particular reason. I was just thinking about something. But what you said took me by surprise.” He said as he ran a hand through his hair deep in thought.

“Why?” I asked curiously.

“The day I had built this a few days ago remember I said that your dad was there having tea with my parents?” He asked.

“Yes. I remember.” I said in confusion.

“He had said that we would be having lunch on Saturday at noon and that he would see us then. So when I was leaving I said I’ll see you Saturday at noon. But I had thought you had already talked to him.” He explained with confusion on in face as he was deep in thought.

“No. I had just spoken to him today. He had mentioned dinner when we were first talking about it but I didn’t agree. I just said I would think about it. I wonder how he knew that I was going to change my mind about dinner to having lunch on Saturday instead?” I asked completely confused. “Isn’t that like seeing the future or something?”

“I don’t know but that is interesting. He must know a lot more than he is saying. For him to see something as simple as that conversation between you two but a few days ago like, he must know who knows how many other things.” He said.

I shrugged. “I don’t know. I don’t think he’ll tell me all that he knows. He might not want anyone to know more than what he does.”

“Kind of like my dad. I still don’t know the type of powers he has either. Like I said god are very secretive about what they can do and what they can’t.” Jeremy said.

“Well I mean obviously we are having lunch at Madame Margaret’s on Saturday at noon.” I said.

“Right.” He said.

“Not that it makes me upset. But it does slightly because it’s like I don’t need him telling me about my future or telling others about my future. I don’t need him deciding stuff for me. I can do it by myself. I am an adult and can make my own decisions. I mean I don’t know who he thinks he is. And you can bet that I’ll be bringing it up on Saturday. He needs to understand even if he knows something to let me be able to tell you or be able to who ever I am talking to or going to talk to. I understand if it’s for my own safety then I get it like go ahead and tell people, tell anyone just to make sure—“

“Uh, Emerald,” interrupted Jeremy.

“That I am safe. Like then that’s fine like obviously I want to be safe. But like when it comes to stupid simple stuff I should be able to—“

“Emerald.” Interrupted Jeremy.

“Make my own choices. Like how do I know he isn’t making my choices for me and I am just going off what he wants. I’ll show him what—“

“Baby girl!” Said Jeremy loudly grabbing my hands as they flew when I spoke to keep me still.

“What?” I asked.

“Look.” He nodded towards the table.

The napkin was in mid air just floating there.

“Okay Jeremy I know you feel bad for me today with now finding this out but you didn’t have to make it float for me.” I said with my arms crossed as I stared at it thinking he was playing games with me.

“I’m not doing that. I swear.” He said his hands up in surrender.

“You’re not?” I asked staring at it putting my palms on my thighs.

“No I’m not. That’s all you.” He said.

“But how am I doing it?” I asked.

“I don’t know. What are you thinking about?” He asked.

“That I wanted that napkin to show him that I can do things on my own.” I said.

“Well see if you can move it in a direction.” He said.

I nodded and took a breath. I now focused all my energy on the napkin. I stared at it as it was still floating. I thought about it being on the table but it didn’t go anywhere. I closed my eyes and thought about it being put down. I then watched as I opened my eyes to see it slowly ever so slowly being lowered to the table. It took a few minutes to get it on the table but it was put on the table.

“I did it!” I yelled.

He grinned at me. “You did it baby girl!”

“Thank you Jeremy!” I said in excitement.

“Now let’s see if you can do it again.” He said.

I sat there and thought about it. I thought the napkin being up in the air.

After a few minutes I watched as it started to slowly rise. It took a few minutes but it was able to rise back in the air to where it was before. Again ever so slowly I had thought about it being put back down on the table and it did. It slowly lowered to the table.

“I can’t believe I made it move.” I said slowly.

“I think with practice and over time you will get faster with moving objects from place to place. I think over time you will be able to do more.” He said believing in me that I could do this.

“Thank you so much.” I said and kept playing with the napkin. I kept making it go up and down. Then I would try to get it to go sideways. I practiced for a while more.

“Oh I forgot to tell you.” He said and grabbed my hands and made me look at him. The napkin fell to the table.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“My parents said I can come and go to the human realm whenever I want. I can live here technically live here if I wanted or at least vacation here.” He said.

“Oh my god! Jeremy that’s great news!” I yelled practically climbing into his lap, throwing my arms around his shoulders.

“I just didn’t want you worried that I was going to disappear on you tomorrow. I’m not. I still am going to go back to my house on my island because I do love it there as much as I love it here. I do want you to visit and see how you like it.” He said.

“I would love that.” I said.

“Good. I figured I’d tell you now especially now that I’m your teacher and all.” He said.

I laughed, “True.”

“Well, I know you’re excited about being able to move the napkin finally but I definitely think we should go inside and take a break for the night and relax.” He said.

“Okay.” I said sulking like a little kid.

“Come on,” he said helping me up and pulling me into his arms. “Plus as a reward I have some ideas for you.”

I laughed, “Okay I do like the sound of that. We could also celebrate you being here for longer and not having to go back right away. Finding out that you could come and go as you please.”

He laughed, “Well come on then. What are we waiting for?”

He then took me into the house and gave me a the best reward slash celebration of my life.
