Chapter 14 14
Alpha Knox~~
Her audacity was top-notch, one I didn't know would grow in her at this time.
I looked forward to seeing her succumb to my feet each time, begging for her life, but she wouldn't. The guts she had to step back into that underground with that spy I had spared by enslaving, I couldn't fathom where she got it.
After two hours that I left the throne room, I sent for Levi through mindlink, and he showed up instantly.
“Alpha,”
“Did she really bribe the warriors with those fruits she took yesterday?” I asked, and he gave a single nod. ‘What makes her think she could control my palace? She already made a friend, and claims she wanted to use the library, when the camera footage said otherwise.’ I thought and hissed angrily.
I walked to the bar and pulled out a bottle of drink, then said to Levi, “Bring her in here!”
“Yes, alpha!!” he bowed and left immediately.
I unsealed the bottle and poured myself a drink in the glass I held, then tasted it.
‘Juicy!’ I said in my mind, smiling.
It's been a long time since I tasted a juicy wine. If not alcohol, then I wouldn't do it.
By the time I had already drunk half of the wine, the door beeped, and Phoebe walked in with Levi behind her. She looked so weak and reluctant, and her face paled.
How sad was she that her friend was going to be executed? She was supposed to be glad I didn't judge her that way, or was she feeling guilty? Yet, it didn't change the fact that the spy was supposed to be dead from the onset. I only spared her life previously because I read her mind and noticed she didn't want to return to the Crescent Moon Pack.
Without getting my order, Phoebe sat on the floor, her legs curled up and arms folded against her chest. She stared at the floor, as though lost in thought. And what I hated most was the pity across her face.
‘Leave!’ I ordered Levi through the mind link, and he did so.
I poured a drink for her and squatted before her, handing it over.
What I expected wasn't the result. I was waiting for her to ignore me, but she didn't.
She grabbed the glass, sipped from it and nodded, as though loving the flavour, then she emptied the glass in one go. “Again,” she said to me, handing the glass over, and like a servant, I still took the glass and poured her another and another, until the bottle was emptied by her.
“I feel so refreshed now…” she muttered and lay on the floor.
Was she okay? She was supposed to be ranting, right?
I didn't even know what to say until I began hearing her deep breaths, only to realise she had dozed off.
I walked to where she lay, tucked her hair behind her ears and had a good look at her face.
‘Not now! I shouldn't!’ I reminded myself, standing away from her.
I didn't want her dead, but I also shouldn't fall for her again.
My wolf whined in me as I grabbed a stool and sat beside her. The floor was heated, so she wouldn't catch a cold lying there, and I didn't want to wake her up. The least I did was to grab a duvet and cover her up, then watch until she woke up when the sun had set.
I couldn't even believe myself. It's not like we were dating, so I wasn't supposed to be this lovely.
By the time she sat up and saw me, she was shocked that her eyes almost popped out of the socket. She looked at the duvet covering her and grinned widely.
“I knew it. You're still sweet.” She giggled and flung the duvet off her body. “Yet you keep forcing yourself to hate me.”
And that was fucking true. I was forcing myself to hate her because I needed to live for my people. But at the same time, I knew I didn't have much time left on my side, because my heart kept deceiving me, and I did what was gradually leading me to hell.
She folded the duvet and took it to my bed, then made her way towards the bathroom.
How she felt so comfortable was one thing I didn't understand.
I thought she was pressed, not until I began hearing the sound of the shower running.
‘What the fuck!’ I cursed under my breath and stood up, heading to the door.
She was busy humming a tune I taught her in there, while I leaned on the door, unable to make up my mind, and listening to the tune she hummed.
Until she was done, I didn't get to scold her like I wanted. Rather, I walked to the sofa and sat, waiting for her to step out.
She walked out in my towel and began looking around. “My dress isn't here? You had other things besides my dress? Oh, you burned it all.” She scratched her head and began walking to my wardrobe.
“What do you intend to do? Have you forgotten your place already?” I shunned her and stood up. “Maybe I should remind you. You are a slave princess, and a whore, so you have no right…
“That's your business, Knox!” she cut me short, checking on all my shirts. “I am still Princess Phoebe. Not a slave or a whore, so get it together. That I accept to get fucked by those men was because you wouldn't do that for me, and I need to climax each day.”
My chest tightened. I just didn't know whether to be pissed at her or not.
“Oh, this is my dress. Isn't it?” She pulled out her lingerie, and her lips widened.
She turned to me, and I quickly turned away, my heart racing and my wolf whimpering while I was supposed to at least drag her out of my room.
“Don't worry. I'm leaving already,” she said, and I felt she was putting on the lingerie. “Soon, I will be taken to the club, so I should get my pùssy damn wet.”
My fingers curled into my fist, and I gnashed my teeth not to yell at her.
“Uhm, looks like I'll take all of my property from you, but that will be tomorrow. I should go see my friend and spend some time with her before she's executed,” she stated, standing beside me. “Knox, your ears are all red. Do you wanna fuck me first? I don't mind.”
I rushed back to the sofa and sat down, but what I didn't expect was her coming to me.
She placed her palms on the backrest of the sofa, her eyes glued onto mine. “What do you say? It wouldn't take time…”
