Chapter 188 17 hours before the Escape II
“If you as much as call her that again, I will beat you to a pulp right here,” Samantha warned her.
“Who the fuck are you? Do you know how much the face you touched right now is worth?” she asked.
She turned to Fabian. “She signed a contract, and breaching it costs $700 million. She has to go back there. I don’t know the lies she might have told you, but she is not who you think she is.”
“Despicable,” Fabian muttered.
“Very despicable,” Summer agreed.
“She didn’t have to tell me anything. I have already seen it for myself. The kind of horrible family she comes from.”
Summer’s face fell.
“What is going on here?” Old man Johnson had arrived a bit late because he had been cooking up a big gift for the kids’ engagement.
Heaven wanted to explain, but Fabian beat her to it. “Father, nothing much. I was just about to call security.”
Men dressed in black approached them.
“Damien?” Old man Johnson quickly recognized him.
Damien’s eyes scrutinized the man who knew him. His face went from confusion to recognition and then to fear in one second.
“M-master Oliver,” he called.
Summer moved and approached the man. “Thank goodness my father knows you. Maybe you will understand that this bitch over here is deceiving you all. She—”
Damien immediately covered her mouth with his hand.
“You had better keep your daughter in check right now, Meredith,” his voice rose an octave at his wife.
His mind began piecing things together. Color drained from his face.
“M-master… is he your son?”
“Yes. And you and your family members are disrupting his best day,” the old man said.
Damien looked from Heaven to the old man. “They can’t get married,” he said.
“Exactly my point,” Summer blurted out.
“If I hear your voice one more time, it will be the last time you ever speak,” Old man Johnson’s voice was cold as ice.
“I heard she signed a contract, and breaching it costs how much again? I will transfer a billion dollars to them. Is that clear?”
The invitees gasped.
Heaven’s eyes widened.
Summer couldn’t believe her ears. She had come here to sabotage things for Heaven and see if she would be thrown out so she could return to the Richards and be of help to her.
“Throw them out. Let’s party.”
The men in black grabbed them immediately.
“Don’t fucking touch me! I’m pregnant. Do you know who I am? I will sue you!” Summer yelled at the top of her lungs.
“After feeding and clothing you all your life, is this how you choose to repay us? Ingrates like you,” Meredith cursed.
“Stop!” Damien roared at his wife and daughter. “Master Oliver, they still can’t get married.”
“What are you still waiting for? Drag them out of here right now!” Fabian immediately got pissed off.
“She is Lady Adison’s daughter.”
“What?” Old man Johnson whispered. His face drained of color, and he staggered back a little.
Heaven stepped forward. “Who is Adison? What do you mean I’m her daughter? You are not my parents?”
Old man Johnson looked at Heaven. In quick strides, he moved toward Damien and wrapped a hand around his neck.
“Your family is at my mercy now. I will cut them into pieces and give you the privilege of watching it. Tell me the truth now!”
Summer wondered how things had suddenly gone south. Meredith’s eyes widened in shock.
Damien struggled, his face turning red as he clawed at the old man’s hand.
“I-I will say it…”
The old man let him go. Damien coughed hard.
Heaven didn’t understand what was going on, but she wanted to hear it. Had her whole life been a lie?
“After you left, Lady Adison found out she was pregnant. She waited for you every single day until she gave birth. She suffered complications after childbirth and couldn’t hold on any longer. She passed away, handing Heaven over to me. She said we should remain in the house, that you would come back, and we should give her back to you.”
Heaven covered her mouth with her hand. She moved away from Fabian’s grasp. Fabian stood like a statue in shock.
The hall fell quiet.
“Father, are you saying you and mother didn’t give birth to her?” Summer broke the silence.
“No, we were meant to serve her.”
“This is fucking bullshit,” Fabian cursed. “Old man, you can’t listen to this trash. Throw them out. Let’s get this over with.”
The old man’s eyes didn’t leave Heaven. He just stared in shock. Pain, guilt, and regret swirled in them.
“So how did she end up serving you all then? If I’m right, her mother employed you. Why was she suddenly treated like trash?” Samantha asked.
“We got greedy,” Damien answered truthfully. “My wife and I sold the house and moved away to start a new life.”
“I don’t know anything about this. It’s all on Damien. My daughter and I will take our leave now,” Meredith quickly said.
“How dare you, Meredith! Are you not the one who pushed me into it? Your constant nagging and insults.”
“You should learn to man up and take accountability for your actions. I am a woman. What right do I have to sell properties, considering I was pregnant then?” Meredith denied being part of it.
A strong punch landed on Damien’s mouth. Blood spilled on the floor along with a tooth.
“You turned my daughter into a maid, treated her badly, and even sold her to clear your mess?” the old man roared.
“I-I’m sorry,” Damien apologized.
It was all too much for Heaven. Her vision blurred, and tears fell from her eyes. She took a few steps forward.
“Did my mother love me?”
She just wanted to know. She wanted to have one childhood memory filled with love, since all the ones she had contained none. Only Damien could answer that.
“Yes,” Damien nodded. “You brought a spark back into her life. You were the reason she held on for so long. She loved you with everything she had. She never left your side for a second. She even wrote you a letter for each of your birthdays until you turn thirty.”
Heaven broke into sobs. Her shoulders shook.
The old man didn’t know how to hold her.
Samantha stepped in and pulled her into a hug.
She was loved.
She was truly loved.
Her mother loved her.
Five police officers stepped into the hall, walking toward them in quick strides.
