Chapter 150

Vanessa's POV

The next morning, I woke up to a sight that took my breath away. My apartment was filled with dozens of lilies, their sweet fragrance permeating the air. Everywhere I looked, delicate blooms with white petals glowed softly in the morning light, transforming my home into a floral wonderland.

My heart swelled with surprise and delight as I took in the scene. Among the flowers, I noticed an array of candies scattered across the table-my favorite tamarind ones, which I hadn't been able to find anywhere around South Africa. The sight of them made my heart skip a beat.

Excitement bubbled within me, pushing away any lingering sleepiness. I rushed over to the table, my fingers trembling slightly as I picked up one of the tamarind candies. The familiar, tangy flavor burst in my mouth, each bite bringing a wave of joy and nostalgia. I let out a deep moan, and was it me, or did I hear a curse somewhere nearby? I pushed that thought away.

Who could have done this? The thought flickered through my mind, but I pushed it aside, simply reveling in the unexpected happiness of the moment. The combination of lilies and tamarind candies was so personal, so thoughtful, it felt like a dream come true.

Evie stirred within me, her presence warm and content. "Someone knows you very well," she murmured, sharing in my excitement.

I nodded, unable to wipe the smile from my face. "Yes, they do," I replied, my voice filled with wonder. Whoever had done this had gone to great lengths to make me feel special, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude.

As I moved through the apartment, admiring the lilies and savoring the candies, I felt a renewed sense of hope. Despite the challenges and uncertainties, this gesture reminded me that there were still moments of beauty and joy to be found. Even while you are depressed. I would cherish each one, savoring the sweetness of the tamarind candies and the delicate elegance of the lilies that now filled my home.

As the initial excitement began to settle, curiosity took hold. Who had sent all these lilies and tamarind candies? I paused, thinking it might have been Alfie, trying to make amends in his own way. But another part of my mind dismissed the idea-it didn't quite feel like his style.

Determined to find out, I began searching for a card among the flowers and candies. My heart raced as I moved from table to counter, finally spotting a small envelope tucked among the blooms. I opened it with eager hands, my breath catching as I recognized Alpha Alexander's bold, masculine handwriting.

The note was short but resonated deeply:

"To the most enchanting woman I've ever known,

May these lilies brighten your day and the tamarind candies bring you sweet memories. You deserve all the beauty and joy in the world.

-Alex"

A mix of emotions flooded through me. Surprise, gratitude, and a touch of warmth spread from my chest. I read the note again, savoring the words. Alexander had gone out of his way to find my favorite things, to bring a smile to my face. Despite everything, he was trying to show he cared, and his gesture was undeniably touching.

Evie's presence stirred within me, her voice soft. "He truly cares for you, Vanessa."

I nodded, a small smile tugging at my lips. "It seems he does," I whispered back. The lilies seemed even more beautiful now, and the tamarind candies even sweeter. Holding the note close, I allowed myself to feel the happiness and warmth that Alexander's thoughtful gesture had brought. Whatever lay ahead, this moment was a reminder of the small joys and the people who cared enough to create them. But I don't know whether to trust Alpha Alexander or not. I mean, he is the man I grew up with.

I decided to shower. As the warm water cascaded over my body, I let out a sigh, my thoughts inevitably drifting to Alexander. The memory of his thoughtful gesture lingered in my mind, bringing a mix of emotions. His words, the lilies, the tamarind candies-it was all so unexpected and touching.

I stared down at my rising bump, gently caressing it with my hands. It was already showing, a small but unmistakable curve that marked the new life growing inside me. The realization that it wouldn't be long before Alexander saw it, before he knew, sent a ripple of anxiety and anticipation through me.

The steam from the shower wrapped around me like a comforting embrace, but it couldn't completely soothe the whirlwind of thoughts. How would Alexander react? Would he be angry, surprised, supportive? The questions swirled in my mind, each one carrying its own weight of uncertainty.

Evie's voice was a soft murmur in my mind. "He cares, Vanessa. Remember his gesture. He might surprise you."

I nodded slowly, letting the water wash away some of my tension. "I hope you're right, Evie," I whispered back. The thought of Alexander seeing my bump, knowing about the baby, brought both fear and hope. This new life was part of me, and soon it would be part of my world with Alexander. As I finished my shower and wrapped myself in a towel, I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the inevitable conversation that lay ahead.

I couldn't predict how he would react, but I knew I had to be strong, for myself and for the life growing inside me. With one last look at my bump, I stepped out of the bathroom, ready to face whatever came next.
