Chapter twenty four: Unleashing the Darkness

Chapter twenty four: Unleashing the Darkness

Seraphina POV

It’s been two weeks of vigorous trainings. Two weeks of mastering tricks and maneuvering them,

And no matter the principle and lesson taught, it still didn’t feel enough, I still didn’t feel ready,

The mind control test was one thing that made me feel like I could overcome it all, if only I put my mind to it,

But with each level of the test, it got more intense, like when she was trying to reach me how to harness fire, she made me walk upon coal of hot black stones.

Sometimes I think Annika is trying to punish me for the deaths of those students, other times it felt like she really cared for my training process.

To simply put, I was beyond exhausted and I would really like to leave.

I was in my room, preparing for today lesson, my body had some sort of injury marks over almost everywhere,

I had just finished putting on my clothes when a knock sounded on my door.

It was one of the servants of the witch haven.

“Sorceress Annika said today training is excused.”

I instantly felt confused. But before I could question more, the servant was already gone.

Today had to be the first time that training was ever skipped, did something bad happened?

I went out of my room,

Witch haven was a green house built upon a mountain top and surrounded by trees and water fall.

It indeed was a beautiful place, and everywhere you turned had one sort of magic being performed.

Today I was going to first have my breakfast at the dinning center with everyone, after which I’d go find Annika to figure out why the training was skipped.

I suppose I should be happy about it, yet I didn’t let my self indulge in it, no training means more time spent here.

I got to the dinning center, it was a hall filled with tables and chair where everyone was to their tables and were eating.

I hadn’t been successful in making friends here, just like the academy, though i didn’t feel bad about it, I wasn’t to remain here for long anyways.

I took my food from the servers and headed to a table by the corner.

I hadn’t begun digging in, when two girls walked towards me to stand in front of my table.

What could they possibly want?

“You’re not a witch.”

“You don’t belong here.”

Great. More bullies. Seriously why can’t the world be rid of people who feel like torturing others inflates their self confidence

“I heard her academy is being torn to the grounds, does that mean more freaks like her get to come here?”

Wait what.

“Oh goddess please save us from such calamity.”

I snarled at her. “What do you mean the academy is being torn to the grounds?”

“Oh haven’t you heard? Monsters and whatever creatures that exist have made their claim to the academy, all the sorceress and royal guards are trying hard to defend them, but they all keep dying.”

My heart almost skipped.

Ronan. Ciaran and Lena.

They are in trouble, they need me. I stood up, not caring to listen to any more of their bullshit.

Instead I headed straight out of the haven, except when I got to the entrance I realized that no one can leave without the use of vortex.

And I’m not witch.

Then it hit me, mind control, I could control one of them to open up a vortex.

Sure I hadn’t mastered the trick well. But it was my only shot.

I went back to the dining center, and when I found those two girls, I touched one of them.

“Get your freak hands off me.” Her shout invited many eyes. Not what I was hoping for.

So I closed my eyes. And tried it again. Not specifically to anyone. But just in hope that it trick gets to someone,

With closed eyes, I saw different fears, darkness, pain, death, heights, monsters, love, they were so many, and they were all surrounding me. And when I would open my eyes.

The entire dinning center was a mute. Everyone was as still as corpse.

“Stand.” I expected just one, but the entire people in the dinning center stood up,

I had just controlled the minds of everyone, holy hell.

I didn’t have time to process what just happened, instead I just grabbed the hands of one witch and stormed out the dinning center.

“Open up a vortex going into the academy.” I instructed.

The girl eyes were cold and lifeless, even as she raised her hands to chants the spell that would open the vortex.

When the vortex was immediately done, I entered through it, and it closed up behind me.

I arrived right in front of the academy. And the sight I saw was enough to cause chills all over my body.

Dead students on the floor, dead teachers, dead guards, all brutalized beyond recognition.

The academy grounds was as silent as a graveyard. But I could feel it.

The strange evil lurking beneath, it was as though it had infected the air, so even as you breath in, you’re breathing in the smell of death and the atmosphere of ruin.

The monster couldn’t have killed everyone. Right?

I was soon rushing to the door, and into the academy,

More dead bodies, more stench of death and evil.

My heart beat faster, my skin pricked with fear.

I heard a loud thud, from down the hallways, I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, it came from one of the teachers office, I entered it, to see a human form making snarling sounds.

And when the person turned. I froze.

Principal lena, no. She wasn’t principal lena. Her eyes were black, her skin white and marked with black veins, her lips drilled blood, her hands were covered in blood.

She held the head of a teacher, and she sunk her large fangs right through the teacher head. Which pieced in a go,

The blood spluttering on her face.

My legs were weak, Paralympic fear and shock.

“Lena?”

She snarled even loudly,

Definitely not lena.

She was now snarking towards me, I moved back, looking to see if I’ll find any weapon to use against her.

But before I could find, she had jumped at me, and pushed me to the floor,

Trying to sink her large fangs into my skin, I pushed and pushed? Even as my heart roared.

But she was persistent,

I tried the fire control, except my hands only got hot, and the creature was even more pissed.

And just when I felt her fang try to sink in on me, a swift arrow came flying and landed straight on her head, causing her to fall off me immediately.

I breathed through my nostrils, I looked to see who my rescuer was.

It was ciaran. Drenched in blood, with mark of scars on his arms,

He helped me get up, my heart flooded with relief from seeing him alive, and not in lena form,

“You shouldn’t be here.” He said, even though I wanted to hug him to show my gratitude and relief. I held back

Trying to calm my raging heart instead, lena body had begun to transform into her original form.

Only that it was now lifeless.

My heart squeezed painfully.

“What happened here?”

“I’ll tell you on the way. Right now we need to leave, there’s more of that hidden and lurking.”

I swallowed hard. I followed him, he was alone, meaning a lot of students were most likely dead, or turned into that creature.

We got into a store, it was dark, but according to ciaran it should keep us safe for a while.

He dropped his arrow on a surface, and ran his hands through his hair, tugging on it tight.

“What happened?” I asked again.

“Kyros. He happened.”

The lump in my throat felt bigger. I had thought kyros threat would have ended if I left the academy,

If he did this—

“And Ronan? Where is he?”

Ciaran eyes narrowed even more, “he did this, he made this happen.” His tone was vengeful

How? I felt lost. As though reading my mind, he went on to explain.

“Ronan had been locked up, and because he wanted to reach you, wanted to be with you, he harnessed his dark powers, to be able to break through lena spell, except by doing that…”

“He freed Kyros.”

My legs went even more weak. Ronan. He’d… my visions were right. The blood. The death.

Because of me. He’d caused thousands of students to die.

I felt even more guilty than ever.

“The fool wasn’t aware that his powers and kyros was linked. But I’m not sure that would have been able to stop him, he was determined to get to you.”

I suppose I should feel flattered, and maybe under a different circumstances, I would have.

But these are dead people. There’s nothing to feel flattered about.

“Do you know where he is currently?”

“No one has seen him since he tapped into the dark powers,”

I swallowed.

“can kyros be stopped?”

“I don’t know, we’ve been trying to figure it out, me, lena and the staff.

“It started with just one students getting bitten by Kyros, and then another student got bitten by that student, and like an infection it spread. From what we’ve discovered Only fire can truly kill them, and well a shot to the brain.”

The dread in me just reached its horizon. A strange evil had been released. And I was nowhere near to stop it.

Instead I was far off, while the man I love brought down ruin upon the world.

Was this the destiny grandma meant? The one where I caused students to die?

The door to the store room rattled, and it started shaking hard. Ciaran stood on full alert.

“It’s here.”

I swallowed hard in dread.
