Chapter 39

( Third person POV)

The time had come for Lucas, Koryn, Nyla and Jane to head back into the kingdom of Viesryan. They had been adequately trained and ready for anything and they now had potions that both stopped magic and hindered regeneration. They obviously could not let the queen know about their movement for her health sake. As they were packing their bags and saddling up their gear, the queen walked in on them, quite flustered by the war-like looks their outfits portrayed.

" What exactly is happening here, Lucas?", the queen asked him with a perplexed expression on her face.

" Oh it's nothing your highness", he said as he took a bow, " your daughters and I are going camping in the woods where I will train them to be hunters. I have seen their innate talent and their interest in hunting", he explained.

" Is this true Koryn and Nyla?", the queen said as she looked at them, " you truly want to learn how to hunt?", she asked.

" Yes mother", Koryn replied, " while being stuck in Viesryan, we saw the importance of being proficient hunters, so we have decided to train ourselves in it and Alpha Lucas here has offered to help us learn as quickly as possible, right Uncle Lucas?", she explained.

" Indeed, my princess", he responded, " and if you will allow us, your highness ( he said addressing the Queen), we will take our leave", he said.

" But if you were going to take such a step, why didn't you inform me?", the queen asked.

" Well, we didn't want to disturb you mom", Koryn said, " I don't want anything that would make you jeopardize your health", she explained as she held her mom's hands.

" Oh my sweet Koryn", said the queen as she caressed Koryn's cheeks with her palms, " alright, you guys may go, but stay safe", she said.

" Sure thing mom", Koryn said to her, " we'll be back soon, okay?", she said.

" I know you will", replied the queen.

" Alright mom, off we go", Nyla said to the queen, " don't miss us too much and you can have that damned Rorhy to yourself", she said.

" Sure, I'll keep your lover entertained till you get back", the queen said laughing," he'll be here whenever you need him", she added with mischievous wink.

" Urrghh mom, you can be really annoying sometimes", Nyla said to her.

" That's my job", she replied with a haughty look.

" Sheesh", Nyla responded, " you are such a pain in the ass mom", she said with a smirk.

" Alright, your highness, we have to leave now", Lucas said, " we will return in less than a week", he said to the queen.

" Okay Lucas, you guys may leave now", replied the queen, " and make sure you keep my daughters and our pretty Jane safe, okay?", she said to Lucas.

" Sure thing your highness", he said with a bow. Then they got into the SUV and drove off, while the queen was waving happily. Then Rorhy came up behind her and said, " they sure grow up fast don't they?".

" They sure do and you are part of them", the queen said, " you were so little just a few years ago", she mocked, " and now you want to act all grown up".

" Geez, talk about an attack", Rorhy said holding his chest as if he had been shot.

" Yeah, you keep crying kid", the queen said to him, " and go check yourself. It's just plain stupid for a doctor to die of a heartattack", she said as she walked out on him.

" Geez, that's messed up", he said , " you do know that doctors die too right? we ain't immortal", he said as he chased after her, " and come and take your medications", he yelled.

Meanwhile, back in the SUV, Lucas and the others are discussing the strategy with which they will infiltrate Viesryan.

" It seemed easy to enter the first time I did it", Nyla said, " it shouldn't be that difficult this time as well", she said.

" Nah, that's not how this works", Lucas said, " they are aware that a group of mercenary werewolves from Wolfendon not only infiltrated the kingdom, but also the castle and worse still, killed a high ranking vampire not to mention the that the so-called high ranking vampire is the sister of their king. From plain common sense, we should expect much tighter security than the other times we've visited", he said.

" Well, more security or not, they're just vampires", Nyla said, " I'll destroy them with ease", she said.

" Yeah, I get that you're confident but being overconfident is usually a precursor to a person's demise", Lucas said," so we've still got to exercise caution as we head there", he added.

" Factual indeed", Koryn said and then turned to Jane and said, " I hope you're ready Jane? this entire mission depends on you".

" I'm very ready", Jane replied, " as long as it will help us stop the madness of the vampires, I'm ready to do anything", she said.

" That's good", Koryn said, " let's get this mission over with in the shortest time possible", she added.

" Sounds like a plan", Lucas commented and so their SUV drove into the horizon.

Meanwhile, at Viesryan, preparations are being made to launch an attack on Wolfendon. The citizens of Viesryan are all enraged at the murder of their beloved princess Salome, and the death of Salome who was the dream girl of all the young male vampires triggered a response from the citizens of Viesryan as had never being documented in Viesryan history. Back at the palace, reports are being brought to Alexavian about the strange behavior of the Viesryan populace.

" What is it that you guys wanted to report to me ?", Alexavian asked the ministers.

" Well my Lord, we are having reports that our military personnel have tripled in number", one minister said to him, " it's literally crazy and the numbers are still on the rise, my Lord", he said.

" Well, strange as it is, I suppose that is good news for us", Alexavian said to him, " however, what exactly is the cause of this increase? because I recall that there has been some sort of apathy on the part of the civilian makes to join the military, with them claiming that their clans forbid this or that", he said.

" If I may speak, my Lord", another minister said to Alexavian with a bow.

" Very well, let me hear your opinion", Alexavian said to him.

" Thank you, my Lord", he replied, " My Lord, it turns out that my team carried out a survey and our results show that most of the young males civilian and military alike, had some sort of attraction to the late princess Salome. You could say she was sort of like their idol or as they themselves call it , a crush", he explained to Alex.

" Okay, so how does that relate to the surge in our military personnel numbers?", Alexavian asked.

" Well sir, it is highly correlated I must say", the minister replied, " as most of the new applicants into the military state that their purpose for joining the military is vengeance", he said.

" Vengeance, you say?", Alexavian asked.

" Yes my Lord, vengeance", the minister replied, " obviously we've been attacked numerous times by Wolfendon and have lost lives on our part some of which were also influential and powerful, yet such losses have never solicited a response from the populace similar to what the death of your sister has done. So after connecting the dots, I believe your sister's demise is the reason for this response from the populace", he said.

" Excellent", Alexavian replied, " she is now a national hero whose name will engraved in all history books for all eternity. Let a statue of her be erected right here in the capital and let her be the motivation for the greatest war in the history of existence", he said.

" It shall be done as you wish my Lord", one of the ministers responded with a bow.

" And the name of your great sister shall surpass even that of Helen of Troy", the other said and then they left Alexavian alone in his chamber. He was lost in thoughts as he envisioned how he planned to make his sister's name the most glorious name in existence. Surely, this was going to be a war to remember.

" Wolfendon will be wiped off the map and erased from the history books", he said to himself, " this I promise you Salome", he added.

The Viesryan army trained gruesomely to produce the best killers ever documented in history. The statue of Salome was erected at the centre of the capital and served as motivation for the new recruits to train gruesomely hard in order to exact vengeance on their adversaries in Wolfendon. This was going to be a war to be remembered, that is certain, buy little did anyone know what the future held in store for them.
