Chapter 36

( Alexavian's POV)

Two hours prior to the escape of my two prisoners of war, I was in my room, lying on my bed and all the while, lost in my thoughts. It had now been four whole years since Viesryan and Wolfendon had been at war under my regime. The war was vicious and no side seemed to want to back down. During the last attack, I captured some members of the royal family of Wolfendon. Though I was pressured by my sister Salome, to end their lives as a statement to Wolfendon, I refused and let some escape while I held onto their oldest daughter, the princess. I gave her special treatment, unlike what you would expect any rational and wise person to do and I soon found out that I had a soft spot for her. I honestly did not know that I had a soft spot for her until when I invited her over to my bedchamber. Unlike me, I was actually nervous while undressing her. I could feel my heart beat really fast. It was weird to me, having never experienced anything of that sort. I kept what I felt to myself, since I didn't understand it myself. Then I called for a meeting with the members of the royal family. I got dressed and headed to the dining table where the rest of the royal family was waiting.

Then I took my seat and looked at everyone for a while and then I greeted.

" Good morning ladies and gentlemen", I said to them, to which they all responded, " Good morning, your majesty".

" Sorry I called for such an impromptu meeting", I said to them, " but I'm afraid we've got a case on our hands", I added.

" And what would that be brother?", Andreus asked.

" Well, my eyes and ears in the woods tell me that we've got Intruders from Wolfendon in our territory and it is my opinion that we take them captive and interrogate them", I said, " so I would like to know what you all think", I added.

" Well boy, I particularly think it is unwise to keep taking these Wolfendon bastards as hostages or prisoners", Alaric said, " as such an act would encourage them to come, since they know fully well that such an act wouldn't be life-threatening to them", he added.

" Hmmm", I hummed as I got lost in my thoughts, " so you're suggesting that we kill them, I believe?", I asked.

" Exactly!", Alaric said, " at least that will let them know that we aren't just a bunch of pushovers", he added.

" Alright, we'll do as you have said Great Alaric", I said, " let me make the preparations ready. Alright, this meeting is dismissed ", I added.

As everyone stood up from the table, one of the maids ran towards Alexavian and bowed and said, " Your Majesty, the princesses of Wolfendon have escaped and the palace has been breached by a couple of dangerous wolves from Wolfendon".

" Damn!!!", I said as I hit the table with my fist, which caused the table to shatter, " I didn't think they would act this fast. Anyway, get all the vampires to attack without mercy. I want them dead or alive. I don't care. Now move!", I ordered.

" I hope you see what your leniency has caused?", said Salome to me, " I'll go and take care of them myself", she said as she walked out on me. I knew I had to stop this menace before it got too far. These guys from Wolfendon didn't seem to ever want to stop fighting. Anyway, I went out to engage them in a fight. Hopefully, we would put an end to this before it could escalate any further.

( Third person POV)

Meanwhile, Koryn and her sister Nyla are still on the run, along with Jane of course. They had already killed a couple of vampires just to get to this point.

" Jane, don't you have any idea where the exit is?", Koryn asked," because I don't seem to know where we're going anymore", she said.

" Yeah girl, it seems like we've been walking around in circles for hours", Nyla said.

" Well, I haven't really left the castle for a very long time", Jane replied to both of them, " honestly, I haven't had the chance to leave since I got here so I really don't know the exit", she said.

" Well,now we've really got a problem", Koryn said.

" Yeah, we've just agitated a vampire nest without knowing the way out", Nyla said, " man, we are so doomed", she added.

" There might still be a way", Koryn said, " we just have to think", she added.

" Sorry to break it to you princess, but we've got vampires on our tails, so we don't really got time to think much", Nyla said in an impatient tone.

" Let's just keep moving stealthily for now", Koryn said, " I'm sure we'll find a way", she added.

While they were moving, they started hearing attacks and screams of vampires. It was hectic and you could hear the vampires wriggling and writhing in pain. We decided to hide ourselves and quietly observe the situation while being on guard in case we were attacked.

" Do you guys hear that?", Koryn asked.

" If you mean the sound of vampires dying, then yup, I can hear it loud and clear", Nyla said, " want us to go check it out?", she asked her sister.

" No", Jane said, " I don't think it's a good idea", she added.

" But then again, if it's killing vampires, perhaps it could be an ally", Koryn said.

" Or a vampire that kills other vampires", Jane said.

" Don't be silly. There's no way such a thing could possibly exist", Nyla said, " and I for one, say we check it out", she suggested.

" Fine, let's try", Koryn said, " hopefully, it won't kill us too", she commented.

So they walked quietly and carefully towards the direction from which the dying vampire noises came from and just as they were getting there, a huge werewolf jumped on Nyla who immediately assumed her beast form and then a voice said, " Stand down soldier! It's the princess".

" Uncle Lucas! it's you!", Koryn said as she ran to hug him.

" How are you?", he replied as he laughed, " sorry it took so long for us to get here. But we're gonna bust you guys out of here in a couple of minutes", he said.

" Geez thanks for the warm hug", Nyla said as she dusted her body.

" Sorry for the attack, my princess", the mercenary said.

" It's no biggie, I can get why you did it", she said.

" Anyway, let's get the hell out of this hellhole", Lucas said, " your mom is waiting for you back at home", he added.

" Alright let's move", Nyla said, " we don't have much time. The other vampires will be on our tail any second now", she said.

" Yeah we gotta hurry", Koryn added.

" Alright, let's take this way out( he said as he pointed in the direction that thy came from) and who's the new girl?", Lucas asked.

" She's a friend", Koryn said, " her name's Jane. She's the one who helped us escape",she explained.

" Well is she a vampire?", he asked, " 'cause she sure smells like one and kinda looks like em too", he said.

" Nah, she's a human", Koryn said," the vampire smell is just her cologne. We even put in some of it to avoid been easily sniffed out by the vampires", she explained.

" Alright princess", Lucas said, " let's move out now, and that includes you kid", he said while looking at Jane.

So they all moved out and headed back in the direction from which they infiltrated the castle. As they went, they heard strange noises as if they were being followed. Lucas beckoned them and they stopped for a while. He sniffed around and said, " Someone is here and it's a vamp".

" Everyone, be on guard", Koryn said as she transformed into her beast form. All the mercenaries along with Nyla and Lucas transformed too. Jane held her knife but was drawn closer by Koryn.

" Show yourself, you satanic creature", Lucas said, " or do you plan on being a coward as all other vampires are?", he taunted.

Then out of the wall, they heard a voice. A voice that sounded female and it said, " you are but insects in a spider's web and unfortunately for you, I am the spider".

" You sure as hell do sound like one", Lucas said, " and I can tell that you're just as ugly", he mocked.

" Then again, there never was any pretty vampire", Nyla taunted.

" You prey always have a way of humoring me before your obviously imminent death", the voice said, " but unfortunately for you guys, I really don't have much time to play today, so we'll just skip to the part were you die", she said. Then they saw a shadow moving across the wall. It was shaped like a lady. They kept their eyes fixed on the shadow and then the voice spoke again and said, " what are you guys looking at? are you enjoying the show?".

Then they turned around to look in the direction of the voice and there she was, with Jane in her grasp as she lifted her from off the ground with a choke hold.

" I always knew that you weren't a vampire", she said, " I just never had the time to eat you", she added. " But to think you were a traitor too......now that's just unacceptable. I guess this is the end of the road for you", she said.

" Wait!!! you ugly bitch", Koryn said to her. She was only trying to buy some time. She was surprised because she had drawn Jane close to her side and yet Jane was taken in a flash and she didn't notice. " How did you get her?", Koryn asked.

" Oh", she exclaimed, " does it really surprise you that you couldn't sense my movements? Don't be arrogant you little bitch. I am Salome Vannoir, an elite vampire with abilities that you cannot fathom. Don't even begin to think you can stop me even if you tried", she said to her.

" Well unfortunately for you, I am an Alpha", Lucas said, " I am as strong as a werewolf gets so I'm afraid you might be in trouble", he said with a smirk.

" Oh, is that a challenge big boy?", Salome asked.

" I'm afraid it is", he replied, " I do hope you're not the kind of lady who rejects a man without hesitation. At least try me out, you might find me quite interesting", he said.

" Okay, I accept", she said, " let's see if you can handle me big boy", she added with a devilish smirk.

" Oh with pleasure", Lucas replied. And immediately, with blinding speed, they collided, and the impact alone caused the whole castle to shake. As they fought, Salome would disappear into the ground or into the walls. Her hypnotic tricks were futile against a feral beast like Lucas. It was a battle of strength and she was losing badly. Then, after about ten minutes, he pinned her to the ground and looked her in the eye and said, " you're probably thinking of using some hypnotic technique on me. But I'd advise that you give up, because I see through your eyes. I can see your evil intentions".

" I must say, you're one big bad boy. But unfortunately, I still don't like you enough to not want to kill you", she said.

Then Koryn said to Jane, " Hand me that knife I gave you". Then Jane took the knife and gave it to her.

" What do you plan on doing with it?", Jane asked.

" I'm gonna use it to buy us time", Koryn responded. Then she took the knife and walked over to where Lucas and Salome were and she used the knife to stab Salome in the heart.

" What are you doing?", Salome said, " do you really think this can kill me?", she mocked.

" Yes actually, I just stabbed your heart with silver and a poison that destroys your regenerating abilities. You're already dead", Koryn said and then, Salome started shaking till she died and the rest of them ran out and continued their escape.
