Chapter 35

Back at Wolfendon, three Alphas continue their discussion with Marco on how the kingdom will be ruled. Marco is furious with the idea and revolts against the plan.

" Even if that's the case Marco, you simply cannot be given absolute power at least not while Keldon is still alive and breathing", Lucas replied to Marco.

" It makes no sense for us to discuss this, because I am royalty just like Keldon who you guys always give the special treatment is and according to the laws governing the politics of Wolfendon, pending the inability of the Supreme Alpha to carry out his duties, the next in line to the throne shall usurp his position and carry out his duties", Marco said to them.

" You can revolt all you want against it, but have you ever wondered why there are always four Alphas in Wolfendon?", Henrik asked Marco.

" Isn't that just for division of power so that the remaining three Alphas govern the three clans in Wolfendon and report their progress to the Supreme Alpha?" that's what I learnt in school", Marco replied to Henrik.

" While what you said is true, it is actually only a fraction of the duties of the three Alphas. The three Alphas serve as a sort of senate or board of directors who each own some shares in the governmental power in Wolfendon", Henrik said to Marco.

" And in case you don't understand what the implications of that sentence means, it simply implies that the three Alphas have the power to impeach the supreme Alpha if they all agree to do it", Wallace said to Marco.

" This is preposterous!", Marco exclaimed, " it is totally unfair that you plan to limit the full extent of my right as the new supreme Alpha, even when I am the rightful person to sit on the throne in the absence of Keldon", he complained.

" We are taking precautionary measures as it has come to our notice that his Majesty Keldon, was poisoned with wolf bane and hence we have inferred that there is a traitor among us ", Lucas said to Marco.

" Are you trying to imply that I am responsible for the condition of my beloved cousin?", Marco shouted at Lucas as he stood up from his chair.

" Please calm down Marco", Wallace said to him," no one has accused you of anything. We are only saying that we will be taking some precautionary measures until we apprehend the traitor that is among us", he explained.

" Fine", Marco replied, " you guys work out the division of power", he continued as he stood up from his chair while adjusting his suit. " Now if you'll excuse me gentlemen, I have some important appointments to attend to", he said to the three Alphas in a calm voice. Then he walked out of the room and was escorted by Luggard to his car before they drove off.

" The audacity of those three", Marco said to himself while they still were still driving, " can you imagine what those sorry excuses for three Alphas were telling me?", Marco asked Luggard.

" Perhaps it was something that made my Lord angry", he replied.

" Not just angry but disgusted Luggard, disgusted I say" Marco said as he picked up his handkerchief to wipe his face, " they are planning to restrict my power as supreme Alpha all because of that son of a bitch I have for a cousin", he said angrily.

" Calm down, my Lord", Luggard said to him, " I am still trying to figure out a way to end him for good", he added.

" Well keep working on it", Marco said as they sped off into the horizon.

Meanwhile, in the meantime, Evette, the Queen, was getting better and showing signs of improvement and was in her room when she heard a knock on the door.

" Yes, who is it?", she asked from her bed.

" It's me Rorhy, your highness", replied her doctor Rorhy from outside the door.

" Oh come in, the door is open", the Queen said to him.

Then he opened the door and took a bow, " Good afternoon, your highness".

" Why Good afternoon Rorhy", the Queen replied, " how are you?", she asked.

" Well I'm the same as always except that today has been stressful even more so than other days", Rorhy answered her, "besides I can see that you are feeling better than you were the last time we met", he said.

" Yes actually", the Queen said, " I've been feeling rather fine since I woke up. I guess those drugs you gave me yesterday did work", she said to him with a smile.

" Well they've always been working", Rorhy said, " it's actually your change in attitude that's making you feel better, not just the drugs", he explained.

" I guess I'll continue having a more positive outlook", the Queen said to him, " but I can't help but think about my two daughters", she said, " I can't help but think that they might be in danger".

" Well if I may suggest something, your highness", Rorhy said.

" Of course, dear Rorhy", the Queen said to him, " please do".

" Thank you your highness", Rorhy said, " but I feel like we shouldn't take chances waiting for them to come back. While we are sure that Koryn is stuck in Viesryan, we can't really tell were Nyla is currently, but it's logical to assume that she went after her sister to save her. I think that her mission to save her sister failed and she got stuck there too. Hence it's safe to assume that both your daughters are currently in the exact same place", he explained after which to paused as though he was organizing his thoughts.

" Go on", said the Queen to him as she looked at him with interest in his words.

" Yes, your highness", Rorhy said, " I presume that they will have a hard time busting their way out of Viesryan easily so I propose we send them help", he said.

" But it's not like we can send troops in there as we are already at war with them and we can't easily take them by surprise", the Queen said.

" And that's where stealth comes in", Rorhy said to the Queen, " we don't need to send in a troop, rather we ought to send about three elite mercenary werewolves that will infiltrate Viesryan and bust your daughters out, leading them safely back to Wolfendon", he explained.

" Hmmm, I must admit that seems to me better than waiting here hoping for their return", the Queen replied to him, " please help me call one of the three Alphas", she said to Rorhy.

" As you wish, your highness", Rorhy said to the Queen, " I shall get it done", he added.

Meanwhile back at Viesryan, Koryn is trying to send a message to her kingdom to let them know their location. She has been trying to figure out a way to communicate with Wolfendon for a while in order to let them know her location, but it had proved futile a couple of times. First off, both her phone and that of her sister were confiscated hence sending a message via text was already futile. Secondly, their room is underground so there was no chance of using birds. Koryn was really worried as she wanted to escape this place by all means necessary. She lay down on the bed with a look of worry on her face. Nyla, who had been sleeping since, then woke up and stretched her body only to see the look on Koryn's face as she stared with a blank expression at the ceiling.

" Yo sis", Nyra said before being cutoff by her own yawn, " what's the problem? ", she asked her.

" There's no problem", Koryn replied.

" Then what's with the long face?", Nyla asked her again.

" I'm just lost in thoughts", Koryn replied, " I'm thinking of how we can send a message to Wolfendon for assistance", she told Nyla.

" Hmmm", Nyla hummed as she thought to herself, " nah, that's gonna be way too difficult", she said to Koryn. " I say we break out by ourselves and get ourselves back to Wolfendon", she suggested.

" I think that's the best idea", Koryn said, " we will break out tomorrow", she added.

" Now that's the spirit", Nyla said patting her sister on the back, " finally you're back, the good old Koryn", she added.

Meanwhile back at Wolfendon, the Queen is having a discussion with the three Alphas about how they would send three mercenaries to Viesryan to rescue her daughters.

" I think it is a good idea", Wallace said to the Queen, " the earlier we send them the better", he added.

" Indeed, we simply can't have the daughters of the Royal family being put in harm's way", Lucas said, " I'll go along with the mercenaries", he added.

" You don't have to go that far", the Queen said to Lucas, " both of my daughters are fine warriors and they are fully aware of how to behave when in a hostile situation. Plus with mercenaries to back them up, they will be formidable opponents even while in the enemy camp", she added.

" I appreciate your concern, your highness, but I have made up my mind to go to Viesryan this time. I want to enter the enemy camp myself. I've got a score to settle", Lucas said to the Queen.

" On the bright side, it would actually be beneficial if he goes along with the mercenaries to infiltrate Viesryan as he can gain some intelligence on Viesryan and is just as good as any mercenary we have", Henrik said to the Queen.

" Alright then, it is settled", the Queen said, " we move at dawn. I want my daughters back by tomorrow evening, no matter what happens", she said.

" Consider it done, your highness", Lucas said to the Queen, " not only will your daughters be back by tomorrow evening, but the Viesryan's will receive a souvenir from Wolfendon", Lucas said with a smirk on his face.

" Alright, you three gentlemen, see to it that it is done speedily", I will be waiting for your feedback.

" No problem, your highness", Wallace said to her, " get some rest and get well soon", he added.

Then the three of them turned around to leave the Queen's room so that she could get some much needed rest. Then the Queen suddenly stopped them and asked, " How about Keldon, my son? how is he doing? are there any signs of him gaining consciousness soon?".

" While we can't really say we know when he'll wake up from the coma, we can assure you that he is in good health. Rorhy has extracted the wolf bane from his body and his organs are stable and in good state. Just think of him as being asleep for a while", Henrik said to her with a warm smile.

" And the traitor. Have you guys figured who the traitor is yet?," the Queen asked.

" Unfortunately no, but I do have reason to believe that it is Marco", Lucas said to her.

" Why exactly do you suspect him?", the Queen asked out of curiosity.

" Well he seems too eager to permanently usurp the throne in the absence of Keldon so much so that it seems suspicious. A bit kinda like it was a moment he had been waiting for", Lucas said to her.

" Or a moment he created himself", Henrik said, " regardless, we are surely gonna catch whoever is the traitor and will give them the punishment for high treason", he added.

" Alright, you guys see to that. We will meet again later on for further discussion", the Queen said, to which they all took a bow and left the room. They started the preparations for the infiltration of Viesryan to bring back the daughters of the Royal family, and just before dawn, while the sky was still dark, Lucas and the three mercenaries got into a stealth plane and flew at supersonic speed and passed over Viesryan before skydiving into one of the forests in the country.

On landing, Lucas took his phone and used his GPS to locate where they were in Viesryan.

" We are really far behind", Lucas said, " we have to get to the palace as quickly as possible", he added. The mercenaries nodded in agreement and then they began leap from tree to tree in a bid to get out of the forest. On getting to the edge of the forest, Lucas said to the mercenaries, " Remember let's try to blend in. Do not engage in a fight when it is not necessary. Also remember that we are mercenaries, not an army, so only kill when it is mandatory to kill and depend on stealth more than strength, okay?".

" Noted sir", the mercenaries replied in unison.

" Alright let's move out", Lucas ordered and they left the forest.

Meanwhile, at the palace, Koryn and Nyra are preparing to break out. Koryn put all the intelligence she gathered in a fanny pack she carried on her waist. Nyla was busy doing push-ups and getting fired up. From a young age, both Koryn and her sister Nyla were trained to be warriors and it was the only thing that they knew as fun, that is until Koryn started reading. While Koryn remained a very proficient fighter, she became more engrossed in knowledge, however Nyla never lost her childhood thrill of fighting. She loved it more than anything in the world. Koryn was more of an calm fighter while Nyla was really aggressive, a character she was said to have inherited from their late father. Anyway, Koryn decided that they should go over the plan again which they did.

" Alright Nyla, come over here", Koryn said, " let's go over the plan again".

" Must we?", Nyla replied while still doing her push-ups, " I just want to fight, I don't really have time for complicated plans", she said. " Besides, you've already told me the plan before, so I still have an idea how it is supposed to work", she said.

" Fine, but you have to obey everything I tell you, okay?", Koryn said to her.

" Yup, you're the boss", Nyla replied while still doing her push-ups.

Now the plan was quite simple, Koryn and Jane had been meeting for sometime with the excuse of Jane bringing them their meals. They would discuss at length and would always talk about busting out from the castle. Then the previous night, prior to this day, Jane had come to serve them dinner and they talked for a while before they both came up with a plan. The plan was that Jane would go and find out where their phones were kept and would carry a knife from the kitchen and sneak it to her room disguised as a part of the meal. That knife would later be used as a form of self-defense by Jane herself.

They soon heard a knock on their door. " That must be Jane", Koryn said and ran to get the door.

She opened the door and Jane was right there, holding the tray of food. Then Koryn dragged her inside and shut the door.

" Did you find out the room ?", Koryn asked her.

" Yeah, it's down the hall and there are tons of royal guards there", Jane said to Koryn, " it's a bit too risky", she said.

" If it's gaurds, we can take them", Nyla said while still doing some more warm-ups, " I've been craving for some action anyway", she added.

" Well just in case, I brought my cologne. It has the scent of vampires and I think it will help us so that we don't get sniffed out by the gaurds", Jane said and gave koryn the Cologne.

" Wow, I've read that vampires release pheromones that are contained in this cologne. It's scent is actually nice", Koryn said, " it actually smells like them", she commented.

" Hurry up sis", Nyla said, " let's put on some of that stuff and get going. My blood is pumping", she added.

" Fine fine let's hurry up", Koryn said as she put on some of the cologne and passed the bottle to her sister who also put some on.

" Alright", Koryn said," I think we are ready, I wish us good luck and I hope we all come out of this place alive",she said. Then she turned to Jane and asked, " did you bring the knife I asked you for?".

" Yeah I did", Jane replied, " But what is it for though?", she asked.

" Apparently, it is actually for you", Koryn said as she took the knife, opened her fanny pack and brought out a tiny bottle.

" What's that ?", Jane asked Koryn.

" Well, it's a little something I saw on our way to Alexavian's bedchamber", Koryn said to Jane, " and after using them on some vampire samples, I found out that it affects their rate of regeneration and by consequence, their immortality", she said.

" What do you mean by vampire samples?", Jane asked Koryn. " And where did you get them?", Nyla asked her also.

" Chill out, you guys" Koryn said with a slight chuckle, " calm down, I'll tell you", she told them.

" Alright, we're listening", Nyla said while standing with both of her hands on her hips.

" First off, when Alexavian invited us over for breakfast, I got some fingernails from the maids without their knowledge, after having confirmed that they were vampires through their fangs, which I could easily see when they responded to commands from that jerk, Alexavian", Koryn said, " I also managed to get some hair strands from that Minister's daughter, when we met in front of Alexavian's bedchamber", she added.

" Wow, I didn't know you did all that", Nyla said to Koryn, " I just thought you were being a wuss", she added.

" I've told you before that there are moments when you just lay low and observe. It is highly unintelligent to launch an attack when you are heavily outnumbered by equally formidable predators", Koryn said.

" That's really impressive", Jane said, " even I didn't know and I was there the whole time on both occasions", she added.

Koryn was still doing some little manipulations to the knife and after a few minutes, she raised the knife up and laughed, before noticing the awkward faces of Nyla and Jane staring at her in obvious confusion. Then she stopped laughing abruptly, cleared her throat and then said, " Sorry about that, I got a bit carried away".

" Well we could obviously see that", Nyla said to her, while Jane nodded in affirmation.

" Anyway, I modified the knife by attaching to the blade, a syringe injector that contains the fluid", Koryn said," this is for you Jane, and if any of the vampires approaches you to attack, you stab them with this knife and then press the syringe just a little", she continued.

" But I've never killed anyone in my entire life", Jane said to Koryn, " and I'm not sure I can do it", she added with a sad face.

" Sorry to break it to you, baby girl but this place is practically a death trap for you", Nyla said, " in case you haven't noticed, you are a human surrounded by human- killing predators in this palace and sooner or later, that cologne won't be able to protect you and you'll be discovered and then you will end up as a feast for the vampires here. So you are left with only two options, it's either you kill them, or they kill you. So make your choice", she said to Jane.

" Yeah Jane", Koryn added," you don't really have much options here. So make your choice. What's it gonna be?", she asked her.

Jane stayed silent for a while, contemplating what she had just heard from them and after a couple of minutes, she finally decided.

" Fine", she said and took the knife from Koryn, " I'll do it. I will kill the vampires, and escape from this terrible place", she said.

" Now that's the spirit", Nyla said to Jane, " way to go girl", she added and gave her a light smack on the back.

" You made the right choice Jane", Koryn said to her in a low and soft voice.

" I sure do hope so", Jane said while looking at the knife.

" Don't worry kid", Nyla said, putting her hand over Jane's shoulders", we'll protect you, so you got nothing to fear", she added.

" Yeah Jane", Koryn said," you might never even have to use that knife after all", she said.

" I'd like that very much", Jane said with a smile.

" Alright girls, let's move out", Koryn said as she opened the door and spied, " the coast is clear so let's move it", she said again and they snuck out of the room.
