Chapter 105: To pursue her

Hazel’s eyes widened slightly in surprise, “Twin brother?”

That was when she remembered the day she asked Matilda about Roman. She had told her that Killian had a brother but he was out on an important mission.

So this is him.

At first glance, he did not really look identical to Killian at all, but if you looked closer, you would notice that they had the same sharp jawline, the same eyes and almost the same confident posture.

The only difference was the aura they gave off. If Killian had a cool temperament, then Alex was cheerful and playful. That was the major difference between them both.

And Alex also had a small scar at the corner of his forehead, and if not because of his carefree personality, it would have made him seem ruthless..

“Yes, Killian has a brother and it is I, even though I wish that was not the case.” Alex said, still holding Hazel's hand gently.

Killian snorted in his seat and replied with, “I wish that were not the case too. Who would want someone like you as a brother?”

Alex rolled his eyes, then he gave Hazel a smile, “Do not mind him, that is his way of saying that he misses me.”

Killian almost choked on the tea he just took a sip of, “Miss you, my foot.”

Having never seen Killian lose control of his composure before, Hazel smiled in amusement.

The two brothers made an amusing smile.

“So, my lady, may I know your name?” Alex asked again, his eyes fixed on Hazel.

Hazel studied him, trying to find out if he was being sincere or just playing tricks on her, but after a while, she arrived at a conclusion.

Alex must have been gone for long and the news probably hadn’t reached him.

So, she replied calmly, “My name is Hazel.”

She did not bother explaining more than that, and Alex didn’t seem like someone who would ask sensitive questions.

“A beautiful name for a beautiful woman. No wonder my heart skipped the moment I laid eyes on you. It’s my pleasure meeting you, Lady Hazel. I would like to be your friend.” Alex said smoothly and Hazel stared at him, entertained.

“My friend? How can you make that decision on our first meeting?” She asked and Alex chuckled.

“To me, the first impression decides the direction of every relationship.” He replied.

“Nice to meet you too, Sir Alex.” Hazel merely replied and Alex placed his hand on his chest.

“At your service, my lady. But I would prefer it if you called me by name.”

His gaze swept across Hazel’s face again, completely unashamed.

“I must say, the Alpha’s residence has grown more interesting than I expected.” Alex added.

Killian could finally not take it any longer. He gave a quick glance at the expressionless Damien and quickly prayed for his brother inwardly.

That bastard was courting death. Trying to flirt with Damien’s woman? Was he that eager to die on his first day back from such a mission?

“Alex, you’ve only just arrived. Will you stop flirting like some peacock? At least, have some shame, will you?” Killian snorted, but Alex ignored him and turned to Hazel with those earnest eyes that gave Hazel a funny feeling instead of being disgusted.

“Miss Hazel, I hope you forgive my forwardness, but I believe honesty is also a form of sincerity.”

Hazel blinked, “Oh?”

He smiled, “Yes, I believe I have fallen in love with you at first sight.”

The hall went silent, then Killian burst out laughing.

Alex turned to glare at him in annoyance, but Killian didn’t seem to care.

“Hey, you literally fall in love with every woman you see at first sight. Isn’t that what happened with Lady Aurelia from the luminant pack and when she started liking you, you lost interest.” Killian said mockingly.

Alex gritted his teeth, “I lost interest because I found out that she has been lying to me all along. Lady Hazel has my utmost sincerity. A loveless man like you will never understand how I feel, no wonder those women kept avoiding you. You are just so hopeless.”

Now it was Killian’s turn to glare at Alex and Hazel stifled a laugh.

Do twins bicker like this all the time? It was very funny.

“My lady, what do you say? Could you give me the chance to pursue you properly?” Alex asked softly and Hazel fell silent.

She glanced at Damien from the corner of her eyes, expecting a reaction from him. She could remember how angry he would be whenever he speaks to another man, she assumed it was jealousy.

She waited, expecting him to at least say something.

But she was in for a disappointment.

Damien simply sat calmly in his seat, his eyes expressionless as he stirred his soup, eating calmly without partaking in the conversation going on.

He did not look particularly bothered like Hazel had expected and the light in her eyes dimmed slightly.

She suddenly felt irritated, the kind that makes her want to force him into reacting.

So he really didn’t care?

Fine. She wants to see how long he could keep that calm facade for.

“You are bold, Alex.” Hazel began, staring at Alex with a smile. She didn’t withdraw from his hold and left her hand in his grasp. “We’ve only known each other for thirty seconds.”

“To me, thirty seconds is enough when destiny is invlolved.” Alex replied and I could hear Killian sneering, making me want to laugh, but I held it in.

“Very well. Since you are so sincere, I will give you the chance to pursue me. Let’s see what tricks you’ve got in your arsenal to make me fall in love with you.” Hazel replied and the hall fell silent.

Killian stared at Damien who had no reaction, but for some reason, Killian felt the temperature drop and his scalp tangled.

Goodness, why did he even decide to join them for breakfast today? He should have remained in his chamber, now he had been caught in the fire.

And it was all Alex’ fault.
