Chapter 104: His arrival, the second beta

Damien’s frown deepened and he uttered coldly, “Hazel, do you think I won’t do anything to you for disobeying orders?”

Hazel’s heart skipped a bit, but it wasn’t because of his coldness, but because she realized how much she had missed him in just a few hours of not seeing him.

It felt as though it had been thousands of years since they last saw each other.

She stared at him in a daze and forgot what to say for a while.

Damien glanced at her, his patience wearing thin, “Hazel, what is the meaning of this?”

His voice brought her back to her senses.

“I just want to see you, do you think you can stop me from doing that?” Hazel asked with a confident smile at the edge of her lips.

Damien hated the way his eyes lingered on her lips, he didn’t like what her smile was doing to him as well. His decision to place her under house arrest was the best right now.

In a way, Damien was running away from his feelings, but as usual, he was too proud to admit it.

The guard approached quickly, but they couldn’t do anything and just lingered close.

At that moment, Little Red also came back and while Damien was not paying attention, she jumped into his lap and a look of satisfaction and glee flashed in her eyes.

Damien wanted to push the little thing away, but she clung to him and refused to let go. Whenever he pushes her, she would whimper and whine, clinging unto him tighter.

Killian watched this scene and almost could not suppress his laugh.

Hazel smiled, “You can’t even stop Little Red, so how do you plan on stopping me? Do you think that a house arrest can keep me still if I wanted to leave?”

Damien raised his brow, suppressing the itch to caress Little Red’s fur, “Are you telling me that I shouldn’t have been lenient on you?”

Hazel's smile did not subside as she nodded, “An house arrest is too lenient. You could have given a harsher punishment instead of deciding to imprison me in my chambers and not allowing me to see you.”

“So you came here to complain about your punishment?” He asked coldly but she shook her head.

“No,” her smile slowly faded as she lowered her head. “Actually, I came to apologize properly.”

The hall fell silent and something flashed in Damien’s eyes.

“For what?” He asked flatly.

“For everything. I shouldn’t have arrived at a conclusion without asking you about the truth of the matter, I was afraid you would lie to me, so I acted while thinking about the consequences.” She paused for a moment, before continuing. “I know you don’t want to see me right now and I understand why. But you can’t stop me from seeing you, I will keep disturbing you and wasting your time until you forgive me. You can’t push me away, I won’t let you do that.”

Killian stared at Hazel with a twitch to his lips. Which kind of apology was that? As expected of the woman Damien has feelings for, they were both stubborn, irrational and domineering.

That was just how Hazel was. Nobody can stop her when she’s determined to do something.

Damien fell silent, unsure of what to feel.

But Hazel didn’t stop there. She parted her lips and said, “I’m sorry.”

She had never seriously apologized to anyone before, but this matter was really never Damien’s fault, so he deserves an apology from her.

Damien remained silent, he stared at Hazel’s lowered head and did not speak for a while.

But just as he finally found something to say, the sound of another footstep approaching filled the air.

“Hey, why is the atmosphere so heavy? Should I come back later?”

A casual and amused voice sounded from the entrance of the mansion which was connected to the dining hall.

A smile flashed in Killian’s eyes and everyone in the hall turned.

A tall man stood at the hallway, with one shoulder resting on the wall and his legs crossed lazily. At first glance, you could see how good-looking he was and the open, but playful aura that surrounded his entire being.

He walked into the dining hall slowly and Killian muttered, “Great, just what we needed.”

Alex, the newcomer, smiled and punched Killian squarely on the shoulder, “Just admit that you are happy to see me, brother.”

Killian rolled his eyes, “You think too much.” But the smile on his lips sold him out.

“Brother, you wound me.” Alex uttered exaggeratedly, his hand pressing on his chest like he was covering a stab wound. “Is this how you greet your brother after coming from a life-and-death mission?”

“I wonder how the other guards who left with you coped. I would have sewed your mouth shut a long time ago.” Killian replied and Alex rolled his eyes, choosing to ignore him.

He turned to Damien and smiled, “My precious Damien. Come, let me give you a hug.”

With that said, he rushed towards Damien with his arms wide open, but when he was a few steps away from Damien, he suddenly stopped.

Slowly, he looked down and glanced at the sword pointed to his chest and he grinned.

“I am guessing this is a way you show love to me. You are unique, Alpha.” Alex said sheepishly, but did not dare to take any step forward.

Killian smiled to himself in his seat, wondering why this troublemaker decided to come at this time.

Hazel, on the other hand, glanced at Alex and Killian before asking out loud, “Brother?”

Alex’s eyes suddenly landed on Hazel and for a second, he stopped talking and simply stared at her, eyes wide open with admiration.

Killian immediately recognized that look on his face and rubbed his forehead, knowing that trouble was brewing.

“Not again.” He muttered to himself.

Alex walked straight towards Hazel and said, “Forgive my manners, it would be such a crime not to greet a beautiful lady like you properly.”

He extended his hand and after a moment of hesitation, Hazel placed her hand on his and he did not hesitate to kiss her knuckles slightly, his gaze remaining on her through the entire process.

“I am Alex, second Beta of this pack and unfortunately, the twin brother of Killian.”
