Chapter 30 Sunday Getaway
Just like Thyago said he pick her up at 10in the morning. As promised, they will do an outside adventure activity for the day. They drive for like two hours and even bought food from a fast-food chain and ate it along the way before they reached the place. Their destination was a zip line adventure park outside Austin and thinking about it got her very excited about the activity. When the car stops at the customer's parking, she got stunned when he unfastened her seatbelt and then opened the door for her. A smile automatically drew her face with the gesture. Even before, she knew Thyago was a gentleman but she was not still used to this kind of gesture she thought.
When they reached the forest area, the first thing they tried is rappelling. Thyago did it first and he did a good job in doing it. He descended in the harness with ease and certitude just like a pro. Well, why he shouldn't be? He said it was an activity he was so fascinated about that's why it was no surprise he was good at it. When it was her turn, at first she was hesitant and a bit nervous but when Thyago tried to approach her telling her it was fun and easy, she got the courage from and trusted his words but the moment her feet touches the ground, she felt ecstatic and a bit trembling in nervousness.
"How does it feel?" Thyago cheerfully asked when he finally descended on the ground for the second time around trying.
"A bit shaking. You know, fear of falling for the first timer but it was fun." She replied joyfully.
"I told you it was fun. You wanted to try again?" He asked.
"Sure!" She answered excitedly.
And just like that, they tried rappelling again but this time, they did it together and even raced who'll come down first. Fortunately, she won the battle but it was obvious Thyago let her win. He told her he wanted to try the waterfall rappelling too and tried to convince her to try it with him. He said it was more fun and thrilling but she declined because she suddenly felt scared of doing it. In the end, Thyago tried it on his own while she was just watching down waiting for him.
After rappelling, they went to zip lining. Just like the previous activity, he was hesitant and a bit scared of trying it but when Thyago convinced her that they will do it together, she got convinced to try it with him. They both jump and glide in the zip line while they held each other's hands. She even screams out loud as a strong gust of wind hitting her whole face as they glide fast the zip line. Even her hold to Thyago's hand went so tight like her life depended on him as if she was about to fall if she lose her grip on him.
"Hey, Bea! Open your eyes and look down!" Thyago shouted.
"What?" She asked shouting back.
"Look downward!" He repeated as his other hand motioning her to look down and check the view.
And just like he told her to do so, he looks downward and roams her eyes around. Next thing she knew, she was stunned by the beautiful scenery beneath her. Green trees of the rainforest, bubbling rivers, mountains, and plantations captivated her eyes. She felt like flying and it feels like she was on top of the world.
"Beautiful..." she couldn't help to escape her mouth.
"Yes, it is..." She heard him said only to find it was her face he was looking at.
"How does it feel?"
"Perfect!" she ecstatically replied.
After the ziplining, they even tried river hiking that really made her legs ache. Thyago oftentimes supporting and guiding her along the way until the end of their hiking. When they got tired of doing different activities, they decided to rest for a while and were seated on the grassy plot. Thyago handed her bottled water that she willingly accepted and drank.
"Bea, can I ask you something?" He said that took her attention.
"Yeah, what is it?" Her eyes went to him eager to listen to what he was about to say.
"How did you and your boyfriend met?" He asked seriously. His stare was from afar and his face was void with emotions.
"Why the sudden curiosity?" She asked back. She suddenly felt hesitant to answer his question. What's with this guy and his inquisitive mind?
"Don't you know it's impolite to answer a question with another question?" He mischievously stated that made her laughed.
"Is that so?"
"I asked you first so you better answer me." He said solemnly. She thought for a while and shed off the uncertainty she felt before she decided to speak.
"Matt and I used to be friends. My father and his father used to be best friends, so we built a friendship out of it. We've known each other a lot, likes and dislikes, each other's tantrums, and even on how to compensate for each other's loss. I must say we're really compatible." She answered.
"Don't you know that compatibility doesn't only mean you both can get along well or you have qualities that compensate each other? It also means filling each other's gaps and weaknesses and making it complete. It's something more deeper than that..." He explained seriously as his eyes went to hers. She don't understand but the feelings now written in his eyes were so deep and it pained her staring back at those orbs.
" Do you... Love him?" His eyes then jerked away from her and looked down on the grassy plot. He kept his hands busy picking some of the grasses then will throw them away in front of him as if he was frustrated or upset.
"What kind of question is that? Of course, I do" She retorted.
She started to get confused. Why does it feel like she was just forcing herself to answer that? Did he really love Matt? The question is still hanging on her head.
"How about you? Are you in a relationship now or you were still with Elena?"
Thinking about Elena made her feel bitter. She could still feel the anger and frustrations towards her cousin brought by the past. Did their relationship work out? Are they still together?
"What do you think Bless?"
"Well, a guy like you will never lose a woman for company. I mean, women are always after you." She honestly stared in her opinion. She suddenly felt uncomfortable with how their conversation leading them to.
"And what do you mean by that? Is that a compliment or an insult?" She'd seen him winced, obviously not liking what she'd said and that made her wanna laugh.
"I don't have an official girlfriend as of the moment but I must admit I have flings who make my bed very comfy at times of chilly and lonely nights." He admitted.
Well, she shouldn't be surprised about that revelation. He was a billionaire and a prominent business tycoon, that's just normal with a man who has it all but hearing it right from his mouth? Something bad feeling crept inside her thinking about those women which according to him makes his bed very comfy at times of chilly and lonely nights.
"Does that mean you can't settle in a serious relationship?" Too bad the question suddenly escaped her mouth. Her sudden interest made her somehow embarrassed.
"Of course not! I said I have no official girlfriend but that isn't mean I won't settle for good. I told you that my greatest dream is to have a family of my own, didn't I? Well If I can only have that girl's heart again, I'll marry her right away." She heard him pulled out a frustrated sigh afterward.
Now he was talking about that common girl again. He must have loved her very much, she thought. Whoever she is she must be very lucky, she thought. Strange but why she suddenly felt suffocating and having a hard time breathing?
"Is she one of your ex-girlfriends?" She couldn't help to ask.
"Yes, she is." He replied giving her a mischievous and meaningful stare which she couldn't understand why?
Elena...
Realizing that, she felt disappointed. She will be more than happy if Thyago was pertaining to other girls. He doesn't deserve her evil brat cousin. He deserves more than that. A girl who will love and know how to appreciate him. That is what she wished for him. A long silence engulfed her just thinking about it.
