Chapter 26 Sudden Visit
While fixing her stuff to prepare for leaving the site, she saw Thyago from afar coming towards her place. She reviewed the floor plan before she decided to leave while her co-designers just left the place a while ago. Thyago usually visits the site and often brought food for the team. After the reconcilement they had, they somehow managed to be comfortable with each other.
"Hi! Preparing to go home?" He asked with that warm smile that made her heart skips a beat.
"Yeah. Wait, what are you doing here? Don't tell me you're visiting the site this late?" She stated smiling back at him. She couldn't help because, after their reconciliation, she found out that he was still the same Thyago, funny and nice to speak with. He was still comical and fun to be with.
"I was wondering if you wanna go out with me? You know, dinner and stroll around." He said it in a chill and friendly voice. Funny because he had been inviting her whether lunch or dinner these past few days and she always decline his offer for some reason.
"I'm sorry, I can't." As much as she wanted to go with him, she really can't for Matt have reserve a dinner date for the two of them.
"Again? Come on, we won't take long. I just wanna eat dinner with you and then I'll bring you home after that. How about that?" He still insisted on trying to convince her.
"I really can't, Thyago. I have a dinner date with my boyfriend." She tried to explain to make him understand but it just made her uncomfortable and awkward explaining.
"Oh..." The only word he uttered out of surprise.
He might not be expected her answers but something that wonders her is the tinged of sadness hit through his pair of blue orbs. She doesn't wanna entertain or assume things but by the look of his face, it's like his moods suddenly changed.
"I see... I guess better luck next time?" He still managed to make his voice cheerful though but it feels like he was trying to fake it now.
If in a different situation, she might have thought that he was jealous but knowing Thyago and their past? She had long accepted that her kind is not her type so that's nearly impossible.
"I should be going." She finally decided to say before she go.
"Are you sure you don't want me to give you a ride?" His eyes are hopeful and a bit stray and she doesn't understand why does she feel so bad about rejecting him.
"I brought my car." She answered. Thyago just nodded then stared blankly as they walk together through the parking lot.
"Take care in driving okay?" He still stated before he hops in his car that made her smile.
"Thank you and you as well." She added.
That night, strange but her mind is occupied by Thyago all through the night. She couldn't help herself to think about him and she just don't know why. It was like yesterday when she hated him and now, it's as if they brought back their friendship the way how it was before he found out she had feelings for him. She had missed him and she was glad she decided to patch the rift between them. He might never know that he had hurt her big time, but the thing is he repented and learned from his mistakes. It's time to close the chapter and forget her stupidity in her teenage days, it was past after all...
Tomorrow after, she never expected him to visit the sure again. She was currently one of the units helping with the paints when Thyago came. It was another working and busy day when he came. Sometimes she wonder if he wasn't busy just like her? As far she was concerned, he has a huge Corporation and Businesses he administers, how could he manage to make time and visit the site very often?
"Hi!" Her attention automatically caught when she heard and recognized his voice. He suddenly burst out from the mouth of the door and that surprised her.
"Oh, hi!" She greeted back cheerfully.
"Come on, let's lunch outside?" He invited in a cool voice.
"Lunch?" She repeated while her forehead knotted in confusion.
"Yup. Just in case you didn't notice, it's already noon and you haven't taken your lunch yet, I presume?"
She then look on her wristwatch just to be surprised when she found it was twelve noon already. Time fast so fast when busy for and because she was too engrossed with her job, she never noticed that it was time for lunch already.
"Oh, I didn't notice the time." She frustratedly said.
"I know you're too busy but it's not a good habit to skip meals, Bea." He reprimanded looking a bit upset.
His kind of stare suddenly made her uneasy because he seems to be full of concern. He might have noticed her wondering so his expression changes and then he smiled at her.
"Come on, let's lunch out at the nearby restaurant. My treat." He said with a mischievous glint in his eyes. He even winks at her after that.
"Someone's tryin' hard to look cute here!" She stated rolling her eyes then walked past him outside the door.
She heard him chuckle then followed her until he reached her pace. Together they went out of the building to have lunch. She asked some of her co-designers to come but each of them has a different plan and destination for their lunch. Some prefer their food to be delivered and eat in their office and some have a lunch date and wanted to be alone.
She hops in on his car for it will be convenient for them to use one car. Besides, she only has one hour for lunch. Who could have thought Thyago and her will be this close again just like before after what happened way back then? The thought of it made her smile.
