Samantha brought the two little ones into the hospital room and immediately sensed something was off.
She glanced at Deanna and Lance without showing any emotion and asked with concern, "Lance is awake. How are you feeling?"
The two little ones crowded around the bed, looking at Lance with worried expressions.
"Daddy, are you okay?"
Lance's face softened at their concern. "I'm fine. Why are you here? Isn't today a school day?"
Samantha explained, "Yesterday's incident was reported online. I was worried Gregory and Chloe would be talked about at school, so I gave them the day off."
The two little ones, recalling the online information they had seen on the way, looked from their mommy to their daddy, hesitant to speak.
Deanna and Lance noticed their looks.
Lance ruffled their hair and reassured them, "Don't overthink it. Daddy and Mommy didn't have a fight."
"We don't believe you fought. Daddy and Mommy love each other so much," the two little ones said in unison.
Deanna and Lance exchanged a glance, the previously tense atmosphere between them dissipating.
After all, Eula's pestering couldn't be blamed on Lance. He had made his stance clear; it was Eula who shamelessly clung to him.
Thinking of this, Deanna pinched Chloe's chubby cheek with a smile. "Do you know what love is?"
"Of course, like how Daddy loves Mommy," Chloe replied in her sweet voice.
Deanna's heart melted at her adorable demeanor, and a smile curved her previously tense lips.
Seeing this, Lance knew Deanna's anger had subsided and felt relieved. Otherwise, he wouldn't know how to appease her.
Noticing the dark circles under Deanna's eyes, he said with concern, "Since my mom and Gregory and Chloe are here, Deanna, you should go home and rest. You stayed up all night and you're pregnant. Don't wear yourself out."
Samantha also remembered Deanna's condition and urged her, "Yes, go home and rest. Otherwise, I won't let you stay here tonight to take care of Lance."
"Mommy worked hard all night. Leave the rest to us. We promise to take good care of Daddy!" the two little ones chimed in.
Their innocent words made Deanna laugh.
Lance couldn't help but smile too.
In the end, Deanna left the hospital room under their persuasion, planning to go home.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she stepped out of the hospital, someone who should have left blocked her way.
Shannon and Nightingale immediately went on alert as the person appeared.
It was none other than Eula, who should have left long ago.
"Can we talk?" Eula asked, ignoring Shannon and Nightingale's actions, her blue eyes fixed on Deanna.
Deanna glanced at her coldly and said, "We have nothing to talk about. Good dogs don't block the way."
"Deanna, who are you calling a dog?" Eula snapped angrily.
"Whoever responds," Deanna replied indifferently.
Her attitude wasn't surprising. Any woman would be annoyed by someone constantly trying to steal her fiance and badmouthing her in front of him.
Deanna didn't consider herself a patient person either.
Eula was infuriated by Deanna's dismissive attitude but suddenly calmed down at the critical moment.
"Deanna, you're really good at hiding your true self. You want to provoke me so I'll attack you and make Lance hate me. Well, I won't fall for it."
Eula adjusted her mindset and looked at Deanna with a smug expression. "Since you don't want to go elsewhere, we'll talk here. After all, I won't be the one embarrassed."
As soon as she finished speaking, Deanna noticed the eyes of people around them.
Deanna frowned slightly, disliking being watched like a spectacle. "There's a cafe ahead. I'll give you half an hour."
Without waiting for Eula's response, she left the hospital first.
Of course, Eula wouldn't refuse.
Soon, they arrived at the cafe.
After ordering coffee, Deanna looked at Eula with cold eyes. "What do you want to talk about?"
Eula's eyes gleamed as she slowly began, "Miss Deanna, don't you think your presence is holding Lance back?"
"Since being with you, Lance hasn't had a single peaceful day. He's either cleaning up your messes or saving you. Sometimes he's even betrayed by you. This time, you almost got him killed!"
