Deanna and Lance were startled by the sudden noise.
They quickly separated from each other.
Deanna was initially a bit shy, but when she saw that it was Eula who had barged in, her shy expression immediately disappeared, replaced with a displeased frown. "Miss Eula, didn't your upbringing teach you to knock before entering?"
Eula struggled to suppress the jealousy that was boiling inside her upon seeing Deanna's disapproving look.
Fortunately, her rationality reminded her that Lance was still there.
"I heard that Lance woke up, and I rushed in because I was worried," she quickly found an excuse for herself and then looked at Lance with concern. "Lance, how are you feeling now?"
Deanna's face suddenly turned cold.
"Miss Eula, my fiance has a poor relationship with you. You should address him as Mr. Mercer."
"What makes you think so?" Eula exploded with irritation and confronted Deanna without considering Lance's presence.
Deanna didn't say anything in response to Eula's angry appearance. Instead, she turned her head to look at Lance beside her.
Her dangerous gaze spoke volumes.
Lance understood and naturally went along with Deanna, coldly saying to Eula, "My fiancee is right. Our partnership has long ended. Now you mean nothing to me. You should address me as Mr. Mercer."
Upon hearing these words, the anger on Eula's face visibly transformed into hurt.
"Are you really going to be so heartless? Just for someone who hurt you, you're disregarding our nearly ten years of friendship?"
She had wanted to call Lance by his first name, but under Lance's icy gaze, she changed her mind.
Lance said coldly, "It's you who disregarded our friendship. You know very well what you did."
Eula clenched her fists, overwhelmed with regret and self-blame.
If she had known that Lance would doubt her like this, she shouldn't have handed Deanna over to Bella just to avoid suspicion.
She should have taken care of Deanna herself the moment she caught her, even if it meant killing her!
That way, even if Lance suspected her, there would be no evidence and no extra complications. She could have found another way to clear her name.
Lance, being the perceptive person he was, almost sensed the killing intent in Eula's heart when it surfaced. His already cold expression darkened even more.
He mistakenly thought that Eula had murderous intentions towards Deanna.
"Eula, this is my final warning. Don't think everyone is a fool. You know very well the consequences of provoking me!"
After saying this, he didn't care about Eula's unpleasant expression and directly ordered her to leave. "There's nothing for you here. Just leave!"
Eula's face couldn't be described as anything other than ugly upon hearing these words.
She took a few deep breaths before reluctantly suppressing her anger. She then retorted, "I'm not leaving. I want to stay here and take care of you!"
Upon hearing this, Deanna's face immediately darkened.
Lance's expression didn't improve either.
"Eula, can't you understand human language? I said, leave!"
He emphasized his tone in the last two sentences.
Even so, Eula persisted, saying, "I'm not leaving. If I go, I won't feel at ease leaving her here. What if she tries to harm you again? You'll be in danger."
After saying this, she looked at Deanna with malice in her eyes and continued, "If anyone should leave, it should be her."
Deanna couldn't help but burst into laughter at Eula's shamelessness.
But before she could speak, Lance's icy voice rang out.
"Shannon, Nightingale, take this woman away!"
"Yes!"
Shannon and Nightingale nodded in agreement and walked into the ward from outside to forcefully remove Eula.
Little did they know that as soon as they stepped out, they ran into Samantha who had rushed over with two little ones.
Samantha looked at the scene in front of her and didn't hide the disgust in her eyes as she coldly asked Eula, "What are you doing here again?"
"Samantha, I came to see Lance," Eula explained.
She had initially wanted to badmouth Deanna but a voice inside her warned that doing so might worsen Samantha's opinion of her.
Samantha was unaware of these thoughts and indifferently said, "Miss Eula, it's best if you don't come again. Our Lance can't afford your kindness."
With that, she ignored Eula and led the two little ones into the room.
As they passed by Eula, the two little ones looked up and whispered, "Bad woman, we won't let you take our daddy!"
Hearing this and watching them enter the room, Eula's eyes turned venomous and chilling.
Shannon and Nightingale noticed the murderous aura emanating from her and their expressions tightened as they stepped forward to block her view.
"Miss Eula, please leave."
Though they said this, they made a mental note to warn Mr. Mercer and Missus to be cautious of this woman.
