Chapter 50 ~The Love Garden~
(Xander's POV)
“What do you mean there are cops in your room?” I clutched the phone tightly. “Wh— you're still at the hospital right?”
“Yeah. Yeah.” She answered hurriedly. “The doctor walked in a few minutes earlier and said some Inspector Chadwick asked to question me.”
Shit! Shit!
“Okay, where are you? Are the cops with you?” I was getting agitated now.
“I lied that I needed to throw up. So I'm in the bathroom right now.”
“Okay, smart. Don't say anything, alright. It's about Fiona, her dad involved the cops in her disappearance.”
“Right. But, where the fuck is Hillspring hotels?”
I'm so fucked!
I knew that was a shitty name.
“I'll be on my way.”
I walked back to the dinner. Nova and Arthur were literally dry humping, but that was besides the point.
I went towards Calvin and whispered into his ear. “The inspector went to Dakota's hospital to question her, we need to go.”
Calvin's jaw slackened. “Sure thing.”
We both looked to see Luna Jacqueline, Nova, Arthur, and Jackson throwing curious looks at us.
Calvin gave a forced smile as we stood up. “We have to bounce.”
“Where the fuck are you going to?” Nova squinted her eyes.
Calvin laughed awkwardly. “To get…”
“Groceries.”
I really needed to work on my lying skills.
“You both want to get groceries by this time?” Luna Jacqueline seemed to have a lot of questions. But she shrugged. “Very well then.”
Calvin and I briskly walked to the garage.
“What did Dakota tell them?” Calvin asked as I turned on the ignition.
“I don't know, yet. We have to get there in time. I think they want to find out where exactly we live ‘cause the cop didn't buy the whole hotel shit.”
“Damn!” Calvin swore. “Maybe he thinks you and Dakota have something to do with Fiona's disappearance.”
When I saw Dakota's call, I thought it was about the request I made for her father to help us find Fiona.
I never expected it to be this.
We pulled up to the hospital's parking lot and ran towards the building.
There was a nurse in the reception area.
“We are here to see Dakota Reign.” I spoke hurriedly and the nurse looked at both of us weirdly.
“Sure. Are you family members?” She asked.
“Listen, we don't have that time. We've been here before. We know where her ward is.” Calvin nudged me, “Come on let's go.”
We arrived at Dakota's room.
“Oh my goodness, Xander!” She sighed with relief. “They just left.”
“What did they say?” Calvin asked, his eyes darting around. “Are you sure they aren't still hanging around?”
“No. I saw their car drive off. They asked me what my relationship with Xander was. I told them we were friends. They asked if I had a hand in Fiona's disappearance and I said no.”
“Then what?”
“They asked me about some weird hotel that doesn't exist and whether that was where you were staying.”
“What did you say?” Calvin looked alarmed.
“I said no.”
‘Shit!’ Calvin and I exchanged worried looks.
“I might have said something I shouldn't have.” She looked guilty. We stared at her to continue. “I told them where Nightfang is.”
I took a deep breath.
“You what?!”

(Fiona's POV)
I still couldn't stop thinking about the letter Dr. Mel dropped on my bed.
Thankfully, Beckett was moved to another room and I was here alone.
Dr. Mel walked in with a tray that contained cotton wool, sterilizer, and some ointments.
“Hey, Fiona. How are you feeling?” She asked as she dropped the tray on the table beside me.
“I feel like shit.” I muttered. Honestly my throat was sore from all the screaming, I was still confused about what exactly I was and all my body was aching terribly.
Dr. Mel looked around discreetly as she dressed my wound, then she whispered so only I could hear. “Did you see the note?”
“Yes, I'm so happy. I thought I'd die.”
She literally squirmed at the word, ‘die’.
“Listen, from what I heard, you're to be executed tomorrow night.”
I gasped as my heart rate increased.
I was shaking by now. “Really? What should I do? I don't want to die.”
She shook her head as she continued to dress my wound. “Honestly, it's not looking good. I've been thinking deeply about how to get you out of here before tomorrow night.”
No. I didn't need to get out of here before tomorrow night. I needed to get out now!
I must have been pale. “I need to escape.”
“I know but how? There are warriors at every entrance and exit.”
“Is there any exit that's been forgotten?”
A faint thought flashed through my head.
Yes! I knew one exit. But that was so long ago.
I don't know if it was still open.
“Love garden!” Dr Mel and I resounded together.
It was where forbidden lovers usually secretly met. Sometimes they followed the woods there to leave the pack.
“Is it still open?” I asked.
“Only one way to find out.”
–------
Dr Mel walked beside me as we tried to quietly reach the garden.
“If it goes wrong, you return. If someone catches you, make sure you run, okay?”
I nodded. I was filled with gratitude. “How can I ever repay you? Thank you.”
She waved away my thanks. “Just stay safe. I'll be on the lookout until you leave. Hurry!”
I ran through the woods, trying not to stumble on bark and wet leaves on the floor.
I ran until I reached the exit door. I was about to open it when I heard the sounds of laughter and footsteps approaching.
I quickly hid behind the bushes.
I saw two figures, a male and female walking together.
Under the dim moonlight, I could make out the male figure. It was the bulky gamma from the dungeon.
I squinted, but couldn't identify the female.
The night was so dark.
I heard the shuffling of sounds like them getting undressed. Then the sounds of moaning and kissing followed.
They were having sex in the love garden.
The female was moaning wildly as the gamma passionately made love to her.
It lasted maybe twenty minutes and I was just hoping they'd be quick and leave so that I can escape.
They hadn't said a word since they came.
My heart was hammering in my chest.
This was the gamma, if I got caught, it was over for me.
I tried to breathe quietly as they dressed up.
“So, when am I going to see you again?” I could barely make out the female's voice because she spoke lowly.
“I thought you said this was the last time?” The gamma spoke. “This isn't right.”
“You know I don't love him. It's you I love.”
Wait… that voice!
“Stop it! Goodbye, Isis.”
“What?!” I yelled.
Shit! Did I say that out loud?
They froze and looked towards my direction.
The gamma walked closer.
“Who's there?” His voice boomed and I froze.
Shit!
